I chose this vendor based on good reviews on wedding wire pre Covid. My original wedding date was during Covid so we pushed it back. When this happened, the owner was demanding a newly scheduled date within so many days or I'd lose my deposit. This was stressful because no one knew when things would be normal and we didn't know at that point when we'd be able to have our wedding. Once it got closer, my trial wasn't even scheduled until only a week before my wedding. The photos posted below are the examples I showed the MUA that I wanted vs what I actually got. It was nothing alike. And to say my makeup looked horrendous would be an understatement. It was nothing like I wanted and definitely nothing that made me feel beautiful for my wedding day. When I left I contacted the owner, Joanna. When I told her how I felt, she gave the girl who did my makeup my phone number and she reached out to me directly. This is very unprofessional and left me very uncomfortable. Joannas way to fix the solution was have me come in again for another makeup trial, when my wedding was less than 11 days away. I already paid $75 for the first trial and was not paying for another one. Never once did Joanna offer to refund me for my trial. Nor did she offer to let me have another trial free of charge. She ended up taking the makeup services off my invoice. However I was forced to use her business for my hair or I would have lost hundreds of more dollars. I was supposed to receive my $200 deposit back towards my invoice. $100 on the invoice and $100 after the wedding for any outstanding charges. Attached is the poorly worded contract and Joanna's email refusing to give me any part of it because I "did not fulfill my contract" I think any bride wouldn't have based on the poor service I received mixed with how the unprofessional owner acted at different times throughout the course of me dealing with her. I would not recommend this place to anyone. There are so many other make up artists in the area that do a wonderful job. Save your money and your time and avoid this establishment. read more

To start, I planned a destination wedding in Lake George, NY, and I booked a hair stylist the week of! Many a bride may find me nuts, but honestly time totally got away from me. Good news, best choice ever because we got Sarah from Lipstick N Lashes to come do our hair. Sarah was calm, cool, and collected. She arrived early, while I was still in shower, and got right to setting up. Very professional. I loved my hair! My two bridesmaids loved theirs as well! She looked at a picture and did just as we asked. I would honestly recommend her to anyone looking for a wedding hair service. I am not one to put down anyone or any business, being a business owner/manager myself. However I am very upset in their customer service. As far as the actual service, I went for my hair trial and I did not get what i was looking for, but i will not discredit the stylist for her service. i was also told I would see Sara.. that was not who was there for me.upon my arrival From the beginning, there was a contract, I was told by the owner the contract and deposit of $210 was to hold the date on my wedding. This was in April. I had my trial done May 11th, which happen to be my cousins wedding I was attending. When I went to pay I was told cash only, which I didn't have on me. This place doesn't operate like a typical salon, which confused me when I got there. So I said I will call the owner to figure this out. When I approached the owner about this I informed her I was not satisfied with the trial. It didn't give me confidence that my hair would turn out the way I was hoping for on my wedding. I even set very clear pictures of what I wanted and what I received with in one hour of it being styled. I have a lot and long hair which could be hard to do unless you have the correct products and knowledge. I happen to be a licensed cosmetologist as well. I know what it takes for my hair to be done and hold a style. I was uncomfortable that I saw styling product brands that you buy at a drug store being used to do my hair. I asked if she could please take the $80 for the trial and an additional $20 tip (total of $100) out of the $210 deposit and refund me the difference. Instead she charged my card the $100 without a credit card authorization form filled out for that transaction. That's when things turned nasty. She was beyond rude and kept saying refer to the contract... which I did!, and in the contract it states there could be a forfeit of the deposit should the contract not be satisfied, and second there would be a $60 charge per person should it be cancelled within 90 days of the wedding. Now here is the thing... I was not a satisfied customer with the service provided I lost hope and confidence that I would have what I was looking for, for my wedding. Even more I tried to cancel this contract 97 days out. A week outside of the time line stated in the contract. So now I am out $310 on a trial that didn't satisfy my expectations and a deposit was used to hold a date. I didn't even ask to be refunded the whole amount... they deserve to be paid for the time spent actually doing my hair and the tip. When I asked to be refunded the deposit or at least a portion of it she was EXTREMELY irrational, unprofessional & rude as a business owner. During this time keep in mind I'm stressing about the wedding and I'm just at a mental loss in dealing with someone that could care less about a potential customer. We came to the point where she said she will refund me should she be able to fill the date... she said being that its over 3 months it "shouldn't be a problem filling the date." As time got closer I checked in and she said the date hadn't been filled. With such a "wonderful reputation" how could they not book up!?? So now its the day of my wedding and as I was having my hair and makeup done by real professionals... who happen to know of LIpstick & Lashes, bc everyone is local. They have heard other unfortunate stories regarding the owner in particular and the customer service. My mother decided to call to see what their availability was to get a blowdry for a wedding that day... and wouldn't you know it ... they were "booked solid" according to the woman that answered the phone. Now we knew from the start she would have never told me if she actually was able to fill the date, but all together it was just a poor terrible experience all around with this place but really the owner is just a selfish terrible person to do business with... as a business manager/owner I WOULD NEVER LET A CUSTOMER LEAVE MY PLACE UNHAPPY OR AT LEAST DO WHAT I CANT TO THE BEST OF MY ABILITY CONTRACT OR NOT., as the owner you have the ability to make a customer happy or not. We all had a great experience working with these ladies for my wedding in September of 2022. Joanna was very good with communication and never left me hanging. My hair and makeup, along with all my bridesmaids and the moms, looked stunning and stayed all night long and even the next morning we all still looked great! I used Lipstick n Lashes for my March 2011 wedding, and was a part of another bridal party in December 2011 where they did my hair and makeup. 1) Joanna who does the makeup and owns the business is A-MAZING!! She was so helpful when it came to setting up times to do my trail hair/makeup and actual wedding. 2) I absolutely loved my hair and makeup for both events! I decided to use them for my wedding party..and opted to get my hair and makeup done for the other wedding. Obviously it's not a cheap endeavor to be in a wedding party (but in both my wedding and the other one bridesmaids were given an option..a couple of my girls found the price to be too much so they opted to get their hair and makeup done elsewhere). One girl I was in the second wedding party with decided just to leave her hair down and curled and was charged the same amount as my beautiful updo, but she even said she should have done something more exciting with it, or curled it herself. Lessons learned on her part. 3) I'd be happy to use them again for future events or recommend them to friends (which is how they did the wedding I was in the party for). Great customer service!! Great results..pricey, but being in a wedding is expensive anyway..so not really something to be upset with them for. read more

Nice job on hair, but they charged way more than was advertised. I had my short hair curled with a curling iron and a small braid put in and they charged $65. Although i was told it would be $25. I was part of a wedding, so they were making a ton of money that day as it was. Seemed pretty greedy. When asked about the charges, they insisted it was an "updo". DO NOT USE THIS VENDOR FOR YOUR WEDDING. On the day before my daughter's wedding, our wedding coordinator called and spoke with Joanna to confirm the time the vendor could arrive at the venue to set up and the time that services could begin. In addition, no time was ever mentioned in the contract. On the morning of the wedding, I arrived with my daughter and was informed that two people were waiting at 8:00 a.m. when the coordinator arrived at work. They were informed they could not set up until 8:30 a.m., and at that time, they proceeded to set up. They were nowhere to be found at 9:15 a.m., but we thought they went to get something to eat. Imagine our surprise when Candy then texted my daughter and said that we broke the contract, were not showing up, and Joanna would be in touch with us on Monday. We spent hours attempting to find someone to style hair and makeup for my daughter's most important day. Luckily the wedding planner was able to locate someone who arrived to make my daughter look beautiful -- but not did not have time for the complete wedding party. Because of the lateness in finding someone, many of the pictures we wanted to take could not be done because the wedding party was not ready. After spending almost 2 years planning this wedding, it was almost ruined by Joanna. And to top it off, no one could get in touch with her because she was at another wedding on the same morning as my daughter's wedding! Joanna required payment in full before the event so everything had been paid in advance and Joanna had our money. And we still have not received a phone call - only texts from her. We spent a lot of money for the wedding of my daughter's dreams, only to be ruined by one person -- Joanna. read more

The price for services compared to the quality was very disappointing. I was looking for hair and makeup that would provide services at my wedding venue, which they did, however I was very upset with bridal makeup that Joanna did. The hair was okay, but I could've done a better job myself with makeup. I was actually getting ready to do my own makeup, but luckily she had an assistant named Chase that saved the day. Please do yourself a favor and ask for Chase or another assistant to be there if you're doing makeup for yourself or for your wedding party. Also, due to my name change, I had an issue with the check that I gave Joanna as tip, and she charged our credit card for it without notifying us. Even though gratuity isn't part of the contract, she took it upon herself to charge our credit card for it instead of waiting for me to resolve it as promised. When my husband called to look into the unauthorized charge, she was rude and unprofessional. If I had to do it again, I would definitely go with another salon for hair and makeup. read more

I used Lipstick N Lashes for my wedding in Saratoga. Sarah was super prompt and incredibly talented with hair! I didn't have a chance to do a trial as I live out of state, but I showed her a few pictures and she created an absolute masterpiece that was better than anything I was imagining. She was also very calm when things go a bit stressful! The stressful part of the day was when I was told the makeup artist had to leave my wedding and go work another. I wasn't aware that she had a different timeline than the one I was told initially, and as a result, I had my makeup done suuuuper early in the day, and she wasn't able to even start makeup for my mom. However, Sarah stepped up and saved the day!! Overall, both girls did an awesome job at hair and makeup, and I would recommend Lipstick N Lashes to friends! read more

I used Lipstick N Lashes for my wedding in April 2013 and loved them! Joanna was so nice and easy to work with. She did my make-up for the big day. I did not have a trial run for make-up and usually do not wear much (Bare Minerals foundation and blush only - no eye makeup or lipstick during the day). Needless to say I was nervous about how it would turn out for the wedding. I could not have been happier. Joanna is a true artist! I got the airbrush foundation, which was flawless. Joanna also did the make up for three of my brides maids. Everyone loved her work! We had 8 people get their hair done the day of too (with one being a last minute request). Each girl showed a picture and the stylists did them exactly as pictured. We got all hair and make up done in 3 hours. We decided to go to the salon since it has more room to fit everyone and was so close to our venue. Do yourself a favor and call Joanna for your wedding. read more
