Food/Taste/Flavor: 5/5 - order of Burrito Lengua and Menudo. The burrito was hefty but quite delicious as it's moist and on the cleaner side. The green sauce was great and the red had quite a kick. The menudo was very straight forward with just tripe in a chili pepper based soup. They did give some onions and cilantro to add in but didn't have the heavy oregano taste similar to other menudo that we've tried before. Service: 5/5 - friendly service but slight communication difficulties when we were ordering in English. However, we did get everything we asked for Ambiance: 4/5 - very tight space that is quite noisy. I've been to Lindo Michoacan more times than I can count. I never regret it. I've been there twice this week. I could be talked into going again tomorrow. The burritos are stellar. Carne asada is a favorite, but al pastor and chorizo are great too. Lots of meat means two people can easily split a burrito for a solid meal. The soup is legendary for good reason. Caldo de Pollo comes with two generous pieces of chicken, lots of vegetables, and extra minced jalapeño, onion, cilantro and lime. A big scoop of Spanish rice on the side makes it extra hearty. A small soup of the day (fideo or another pasta soup) is a decent sized bowl. Beef, seafood, chicken or tortilla soup is a massive bucket full of soupy goodness. Yep, chips and salsa are no longer free. But for 2 bucks, you get freshly made tortilla chips and addictive roasted salsa. Spend the 2 bucks and stop complaining. Like molè? Theirs is solid. Not too thick, mild and mellow. Perfect on enchiladas. Horchata is awesome, creamy with a definite cinnamon flavor. Never once have I had any problem with the service. They work hard and run a great restaurant. They get busy for sure. Be polite and be patient and don't expect it to be the same mechanized service as you get at Chili's. You are not in some suburban, cookie cutter, corporate owned restaurant. Relax and watch a bit of soccer on the large monitors at either end of the dining room. The volume won't be too loud, so if you don't want to watch, it won't intrude. There are hundreds of great Mexican restaurants in Chicago. I've been to a lot of them. For service, consistent quality, selection, and a comfortable and friendly environment, I don't think you can do better than Lindo Michoacan. read more

I was having lunch yesterday wit a colleague I have had lunch there many of times yesterday there was a man sitting two tables for me with a large plate of broiled shrimp. I asked the waitress may I have that order to go when I got home. My order was way less than half of the portion I saw on his plate, I have photos to back this up. I am very disappointed with this establishment. I have been coming here for years and I find this highly disrespectful. I opened my take-home. My portion was maybe three I'll give it to five small shrimp encased in various vegetables nothing like the order I had seen and I had requested. The owner or manager is extremely nice. He went around just making sure everyone was having a good time and enjoying their meal, which I always think says a lot about the restaurant. The food was delicious, ordered carnita tacos and taquitos. Neither were greasy and they both just tasted homemade. Their horchata is one of the best I've ever had in the area. A good amount of cinnamon to make it flavorful and you can tell it was soaked for a very long time bc the horchata was not watery. I have been looking for a good taco spot not too far away from home and I'm glad I found Lindo! Found my new spot. I've been here twice in 1 weeks since I first tried it. My favorite taco is the al pastor but the carne and pollo are also good options. I add the extra toppings for .25c each, which to me are worth it. I appreciate that they give you the tortilla chips and salsa complementary. Sopes here are huge and 2 is is good enough if you are super hungry. We made the mistake of ordering 3 and weren't able to finish it. 2 tacos is sufficient enough for me to be full. I ordered 3 and couldn't even look at the third one. Good portion sizes and they give you sauce to top off the tacos etc if needed. The servers are very nice but the service is a little slow because there is only 2 servers and the place gets busy. Just know you might have to get up or flag someone down to get service. No big deal to me considering the ambiance of the restaurant. Pricing is very reasonable and affordable. read more

I have been a patron of Lindo Michoacan for many years. The food has always been excellent. In my opinion, it is Chicago's best Mexican cuisine. In general, the staff is friendly and welcoming. However, I was made to feel like I was creating a disturbance during my most recent visit for asking if I could speak to the Chicago Albany Park Police about the average cost to rent an apartment in Albany Park. Contrary to what others may think, I find Albany Park charming, diverse, and fun. This especially holds true for those who live on a budget. Therefore, I will never understand why the server, who has known me for years and once valued my business, would behave so rude and disrespectfully. Since I have never been employed by this establishment, I will likely forgive and forget. I wish her manager or owner would approach her gently to let her know she insulted a loyal customer. Unfortunately, family-owned restaurants seem to be less concerned about losing customers than chain restaurants. Under the circumstances, I feel like I am owed an apology at a minimum and maybe entitled to a little compensation. Chain restaurants and a family-owned restaurant in Norridge have apologized and compensated me when they become aware of my being mistreated. Prior to this tragic experience, I would have given this place five stars. read more

I've been on a Mexican food diet lately and I think I found a new spot! As usual, I went with my go-to meal, the steak taco dinner. One of the best that I've had! The meat was flavored perfectly, along with the rice and beans that it came with. And the chips! Its all about the chips for me. They were nice and crunchy and still warm! Perfectly salted and the salsa it came with was great. Plus it was complimentary! Our waitress brought our complimentary chips and salsa to our table seconds after we sat down. Very nice and friendly woman. Great service. Oh and the guacamole salsa was bomb! The prices were great too. The table next to me had these giant orange looking cocktails in their hands. With many taco joints in the city, how do you choose? I've been to many all over the city, but this was by far the best. This is the mom and pop Mexican restaurant "hole in the wall" places that you find all over the city. However, this place is connected to a pretty jumpin Mexican Supermarket so you know those ingredients are going to be fresh! That was certainly the case tonight! We started with chips and guacamole. I've read other reviews that this was one of their stronger dishes and I agree! Super fresh guacamole with crispy chips. I find the best guacamole is the freshest and this place does that. Also, kudos to them for not making it super spicy. Sometimes places go overboard, but this place showcases the fresh avocados. For dinner we all got the taco dinners. Two steaks and one ground beef. I actually didn't realize you can three different tacos on your plate (hack for next time!), but I went with the steak. Nicely cut, grilled to perfection, and not chewy. I appreciated the simplicity of it all! My dad got the ground beef which he liked, but thought it was a smidge too spicy. He will go with the steak next time! I tried it and will get ground beef next time. It was like the steak, but a little more "umph" One surprising thing with some of these reviews was the service. We had nothing but outstanding service and had two servers because one didn't speak English. Both checked on us a bunch of times and brought our food fast and hot! It wasn't crowded there tonight so that could have help on the service, but we were impressed. We were one of the few tables that was non Mexican so with so many Mexicans eating and enjoying, you know it's gotta be good. I would agree! This is the real deal. Service is terrible, I was waiting about 15 minutes for a to go box and my check, it wasn't even that busy, I had to get up and get it myself. I always come with my family and for 4 people including myself, we never get charged automatic gratuity. Today they charged us an automatic 15%, there was no sign in the restaurant, no sign in the menu, and the waiter didn't tell us about the automatic gratuity. While the sister grocery store next door doesn't impress me much, Lindo Michoacan Restaurant wins my repeated businesses. Well, it definitely has won many CPD men and women. I often see cops dining inside and doing their community outreach (maybe)? Anyhow, you can't legally follow the police vehicles, but you can certainly track down where officers go for food, at least it's what I do. It's one of a few restaurants that has a pretty extensive seafood menu items, especially the soup. Hubby and I ordered the caldo de pescado (fish soup) and siete mares (seafood combination soup) for to-go. They also have the pineapple drink, under the jugos naturales category. Hubby had one, and I sampled. It was delicious, yet if you've had the pineapple lemonade from Dos Ricco's (on S. Cicero by the Midway Airport), nothing else could measure up to that heavenly, refreshing, and soothing pineapple lemonade from the god of fusion (Dos Ricco's emphasizes on Asian and Mexican fusion dishes...an amazing place)! Sorry for digressing, but I thought it was necessary to share this piece of information on the previous paragraph for just being a foodie. The soup we had was well-made, even though it entailed a longer wait at the restaurant. My caldo de pescado was filling, and the amount of fish was considerably generous. I know it's a minute detail, but the tortilla that came with the soup was fluffy and thin enough to create a nice absorption when soaking up the soup. Hubby and I both agreed that we will go back for their soup, and perhaps other items on the menu. Lindo Michoacan restaurant is located one (1) block north from the CTA Kedzie Brown Line station, so it's readily accessible without driving your own vehicle. If I can stop at least one person from coming to this terribly run restaurant, I'll have done my job. I have been coming to this restaurant for over 10 years and it has steadily declined each and every year. From the terrible service and attitude that some servers give to the incorrect orders that happen all too often, this was the last time I ever come to this restaurant. The final straw came when the server who took my order down incorrectly, told me that I had to drive all the way back in the snowstorm to fix the mistake she made. Upon arriving, the restaurant was nearly empty which made her laziness to write down my order correctly all the more frustrating. Then when I tried to return the food she refused to put the appropriate money back onto my card and kept arguing with me that she would only give me cash. She claimed she needed some sort of 'code' to put money back onto my card, and that the person who knew the 'code' was not currently there. She finally told me that I'd have to drive back tomorrow mid-day to get my refund. Unbelievable. read more

So if you don't speak Spanish stay away, as you'll likely be charged far more than you should be. All of the dishes are delicious. My family and I have been going to this Albany Park restaurant for years. There's no other restaurant in Chicago that serves their vegetarian burrito the way they do.
