Hill House at Chestnut Hill - Updated Kitchens

Hill House at Chestnut Hill

My boyfriend and I moved in last month and we can't say enough good things! The leasing manager…read moreFrancesca has been so very helpful and kind throughout the application and moving process. The building has 24 hour front door coverage, library, fitness room, basment storage and laundry units on each floor. The library is small but comfortable. They have a keurig machine in there also, so if you have $1 (quarters) you can fix yourself a cup of coffee. This was very helpful when we moved becuase I needed energy and had no coffee! The fitness room is also on the smaller side but so far I haven't seen it really busy. A couple elliptical machines, a couple treadmills, a weight machine and there's a flat screen TV on the wall. The basement storage (again is small but more on that later) is convenient and it doesn't smell down there, which is a plus! Our one bedroom apartment is one of the larger ones with a huge window in the front of the living room. It is very spacious overall and we have so much closet space in the apartment, the smaller basement storage is not even an issue. Kitchen has lots of cabinets and counter space, the stove is gas (which I love) and the appliances are fairly new. The hardwood floors in the apartment are classy and really make the place feel open when the sun shines in. The utilities are all included in the rent (which you pay online, yay!) so there are no surprises from season to season and the apartment has central air/heat. I'm sure there are plenty of things that I'm forgetting but we are so thrilled to live here. Message me if you have questions, I'd be happy to help!

After collecting my application fee and deposit, I did not hear back from Hill House until I followed up with Francesca Devlin in the office who informed me that my studio of choice is and will not become available and the only choices available to me were 2 significantly more expensive apartments which I declined, explaining that I am a graduate student on a fixed income and very little flexibility with regards to certain expenses. I asked a refund of my deposit and was very curtly informed both by her and a very unpleasant man who identified himself as the manager that deposits are non-refundable when an applicant "chooses to back-out of an application". Given the fact that my decision was based on the inability of Hill House to provide me with the apartment I applied for and was verbally promised, I consider it a broad inaccuracy to term Hill House's inability to fulfill their end of the contract as a "back-out" on my part. I now realize that Hill House collected my deposit knowing that the studio of my choice would not be available, and with the underlying intention of up-selling a more expensive apartment which I would be pressured to accept. This is a highly unethical rental practice and a borderline criminal one which; had I the time or the inclination, I would be pursuing legally. But I will assuage my anger by strongly advising future prospective tenants to carefully review their decision to apply to Hill House. Unless you are absolutely able to accept and pay for whatever size of apartment you are offered regardless of the choice stated in your application. Do not be fooled by the positive reviews as I was. There are a great many alternatives in the Chestnut Hill area, and if you do not want to fall victim to their unethical practices would advise that you look elsewhere.

This is the original section of the complex. When firsr built it was incredible for the time frame (…read more1967 ). It had features that now we take for granted but back then was ground breaking. They even built the shopping center across the street that had everything there even a 2 screen movie theatre. ( Eric, Chestnut Hill ) drug store, deli, several restaurants & 2 banks. Now it is 2016, almost 50 years since built. A second section was added down my Mermaid Lane. My grandmother & several childhood friends lived in those sections ( Norwood ). When her lease had expired management attempted to enforce a new 2 year lease. The judge disagreed cause they let her live there for over a year without getting a new lease signed. Now these units need a serious update, roofs need to be replaced, carpets need replacing, appliances now are the cheapest possible units made. In my opinion rather than making this development a cash cow for some management company they have not maintained it the way they did years ago. The short comings of the build now are glaringly apparent and should be corrected to insure future stability and that the occupants have a pleasant stay no matter how long or short.

It was a waste of time to come for 5 mins snd come see 2 places.. why don't someone actually take the time to show me a few places, give me a grand tour So I can see everything.. I wouldn't come back. Thats not how you conduct business.. you lose credibility and customers.. thanks Tyrone... ‍ Sinan ‍‍‍‍‍

Apartment Tour Review: Kayla Lee was friendly, professional,…read moreand very knowledgeable throughout the tour, making the experience welcoming and informative. I really loved the variety of amenities the community offers and could see the potential for this to be a great place to live. I was surprised, however, that one of the apartments did not appear to be fully up to standard, and I noticed a few differences compared to the virtual tour of what was supposed to be the same unit. Other than these minor differences--which I hope can be addressed prior to move-in should I decide to make this community my home--I am hopeful that living here will be a positive experience for both me and my family.

They won't ban BB guns, they won't ban teenagers from the gym. They won't pay for my medical bills. Not to mention, the landlord of Towers of Wyncote won't kick out Pot smokers and cigarette smokers who were smoking in the stairways in Building 2 even after I told them they're smoking in all 3 stairways several times. Marijuana is an illegal drug federally and in Pennsylvania if I recall. You can go to prison for having Marijuana in your bloodstream after inhaling 2nd hand smoke. And let's not forget about how the landlord of Towers of Wyncote refused to help me register for the auto paying of rent. I tried to call them 5 times to help me with autopaying rent. They either won't pick up the phone or they hung up.
