A couple of more visits to this Park and I must say whomever designed the Parking lot should have been let go a long time ago before even being built! Why would you create such small parking spaces AND not have ample amount of them for a big public park?!? Doesn't make any sense at all! To top it off, the Men's Public Restroom doesn't have doors for the stalls!!! Who the heck is keeping maintenance on this place?!? Surely doesn't seem like anyone is taking care of this park and its facilities.... And we as tax payers are supposed to deal with these issues whenever we go to parks like these in Washington State?! Come on!!! Besides those complaints, the Park in general has good walking trails, good scenery and viewpoints of the Ocean. Beach shoreline has decent fishing spots as well. Hopefully someone will read this review and take the complaints and observations into consideration to improve things for the general Public...

    Playground near parking lot #2

This is a huge park with several different parking lots, a playground, outdoor public swimming pool, a gnome, beaches, and walking trails! Their playgound is newer with a lot of fun climbing features for the kiddos. Parking is limited I'm guessing this park is packed during the summer! If you want to find the gnome walk north of the public swimming pool and it'll be on the right. The beach is fun to walk along with all the driftwood, there are some fun structures people have assembled out of some of the driftwood.

Pretty little park, from lush trails through the trees to easy walking path on water. Beach trail has lots of stairs if you're looking for a little extra workout. Lots of wildlife (so many bunnies!) and a troll sighting. Good place to watch sunset. Lots of picnic tables and bathrooms around. Good spot!

Of all the parks we visit in Seattle, this was my favorite with its two playgrounds, a zipline, troll and beach. My twins loved the zipline and I loved the troll. It's easy to get 10k steps in. I appreciated that there was always a bathroom nearby. I was bummed we didn't have time to make it back to this park. It will be a go-to on our next trips to Seattle.

Doing the ascent after a nice, leisurely walk along the waterfront.

Lincoln Park primarily grabbed my attention when I knew one of the Thomas Danby wooden trolls was located here. Extra perks with going to the park was the waterfront view of Puget Sound and the pebbly beach that is all right by the spot where the troll is. Parking isn't too bad but it is a little bit of a hike as you need to go down and back up a ridge. Apparently if you go south the incline levels off but we didn't know any of that and went north instead. We went up a lot of stairs that go into the ridge to ascend again. But it was all worth it. Of course seeing the troll was really cool and the views of Puget Sound and watching the ferry that arrives and leaves from West Seattle to Vashon Island made the viewing all the more pleasant. If we went south it looks like we would have been in for a nice stroll. I am not sure how far it goes but it's definitely a nice place for a relaxing walk or run. Back up on top there are quite a few park amenities available which gives this park a great ability for it to be enjoyed for an entire day.

Bruun Idun Way of the Bird King Troll

Nice park, we went to find Bruun Idun Way of the Bird King Troll. It was a bit of a hump, a long trek down a steep muddy path, then back up. Troll looked good, my wife and daughter almost dies climbing back up the hill.

Lincoln Park is this really wonderful mix of waterfront beach with a park and a play area. It was probably one of our favorite mixed spaces thus far! We took the steep woodsy northern trail down and the much less intensive paved south trail up. If you have bad knees or small children, I'd recommend either doing the same thing or taking the southern trail both up and down. I didn't expect once we walked through the woods to happen upon a huge rocky beach complete with a seal in the water. Most of the trail isn't paved so bicyclists should steer clear since the ground is full of rocks, but it's a fairly nice meander up over to the huge wooden danish troll Bruun Idun (Way of the Bird King). Created by Thomas Dambo, there's another one of these near the Nordic Heritage Museum and you can find a list of them at NWTrolls. Once you've walked the length of the waterfront I would caution people that this area has really poor reception, so if you plan to jaunt over to Fauntleroy Park, make sure you have enough steam to walk back since your internet will be totally gone as soon as you hit upper SW Wildwood. All in all, (especially for the wooden troll) Lincoln Park is not to be missed if you're visiting Seattle!

WE FOUND THE GIANT TROLL!!!! The newest troll in Lincoln Park (September 2023). Come to take a look, a very beautiful master piece and very details from Thomas Dambo's collection that we have been following. Nice walking path along the beach and kids friendly hiking trails. Parking doesn't seem easy, but surrounding is always nice to stop and wondering around. The playground is the final reward before we left the park.

Came here to meet some friends for a 'photo walk'. This was basically, a meetup of 10+ people where we bring cameras and take pictures of everything, particularly wildlife and landscapes. This particular visit it was an overcast, chilly day so not the most ideal for an outing like this but it was still a lot of fun. I had a great time as a novice taking pictures of random things, and there is plenty of it. Beach views, the islands across the way, the mountains (if you're lucky, we weren't this visit). Word is the sunsets are very nice here. There are plenty of birds around, and we even were lucky enough to see some eagles hanging out in the trees shortly before they flew away together. I had a fun time here despite the weather, so I'm sure the weather being nice here it's even more of an attraction. The paths are long for walking/running/biking, Colman pool, picnic areas and much more. Upon leaving I saw a small group of people setting up Easels as they prepared to paint the landscape which was nice. The ferries make repeated trips to the islands, so it's nice seeing them come and go and make for some nice shots, in addition to the other going-ons. Lincoln Park is described as a multipurpose park and that's about right. Lots to do here, again definitely so on a more pleasant day. Even on a cooler day, it could be a nice visit with less people around.

Giant park that is still packed full of people on any given day, but it's so large, you can hang out where there is no one else. Lots of fields, picnic tables, trees and views of the water along with playground areas and trails.

    Coastline views
    Vivienne C.

One of the most beautiful parks I have ever been to in the United States. Essentially it's a coastline walk overlooking all the beautiful views of Elliott Bay as well as various landscapes across the Bay. Even on an ugly day, the views are absolutely stunning and you can see so much wildlife here including various species of ducks and even fish flying out of the water multiple times like we did. The water is extremely clear as well as the sound of the waves lapping the wall is just so serene. Also as you walk towards the parking spaces, there are these huge redwood trees greeting you and its just beautiful. Seriously one of the best walks I have ever been on and cannot recommend it more if you're in the Seattle area.

Great walk in the park to find this troll. Lots of friends and families, people with their dogs, runners, and walkers. We wound around different trails and enjoyed the weather. There was plenty of parking and lots to see in this lovely park.

Stunning park right next to the water! The hike was short as well, not too long. Amazing views!

Ask the Community - Lincoln Park

Can you do bonfires by the beach?

Thanks for asking - the only beaches the City of Seattle permits bonfires at is Alki and Golden Gardens in the summer, and they must be inside the fire rings provided. As of Labor Day the rings are closed for the season.

    Can you swim in?

Not really. Folks will wade in it but, the beach is pretty pebbly/rocky and low tide can have painful barnacles. You can swim at the Coleman saltwater pool in the park but first check their schedule and requirements by googling it.

Are there any drinking fountains in the park (or place to fill up a water bottle)?

As of right now, I don't believe so. I have never seen a drinking fountain in the park, and right now, the bathrooms are still closed (there are some porta-potty's down by the water).

There's also a cool statue here if you're interested, and if you go down the steps there's a small playground. I'm not sure if I've ever seen anyone use the playground though, since there are no bathrooms associated with the park and small kids can have bathroom emergencies. There are businesses nearby where I guess you could technically ask to use the washrooms, but it's just another hassle. Note: street parking only.

Okay, back to Discovery Park. I spent an entire day exploring the park. I started by ordering a carryout lunch at Damoori Kitchen, which is now closed according to Yelp. I then walked to Discovery Park and hiked the 4.4-mile Discovery Park and Lighthouse Loop. A map for that trail can be accessed using a trail app. The loop trail took me through several ecosystems such as coastal meadows, tidal beaches, forest groves, sand dunes, and vast stretches of thickets with wild berries. Once I finished hiking the loop, I walked back to Damoori Kitchen and caught a rideshare back to downtown Seattle. Highlights from my Discovery Park adventure included eating lunch at the tidal beach, exploring sea cliffs, seeing jaw-dropping views of Mount Rainier, hiking past the West Point Lighthouse, and experiencing the sights, sounds, flora, and fauna of the park's majestic landscape.
