This makes me smile but it's totally fine. Be passionate about the product you sell, right? I feel like I only have 2 choices when it comes to finding a good liquor store in my neighborhood. The other is Mariano's. Together, these businesses would complete an impressive liquor store. There are others in the area, I'm sure, but I feel like they are too far away for driving. Especially during rush hour.

Maybe Foremost is a great place for craft beer, but I was looking for a decent, inexpensive domestic red. What I found were wines I can find elsewhere, but at jacked-up prices. I finally bit the bullet, grabbed a longtime fave bargain zinfandel, marked up to $11.99. Now, I don't expect to pay Binny's prices at neighborhood stores, but that's $2 or $3 more than the same bottle runs at my old corner liquor store, Windy City Liquors. In short, if you're desperate for a BYOB bottle, plan ahead or be prepared to pay the premium.

This IS an old skool liquor store, and I expected to walk into a decrepit, crumbling place jammed full of cheap beer and those high-alcohol wine cooler thingies, whatever those are, I don't even know. And bunches of Swisher Sweets on the counter next to the Slim Jims. Well, throw your stereotypes out the window, E! This is a clean, bright, fresh-smelling establishment. Cute guy behind the counter bobbing away to "Bust A Move". There might have been Swisher Sweets and Slim Jims, but I didn't see any. What I did come for is beer, 'cos that's what my budget is now. What a selection! And the prices were great! I got a six pack of Hooegarden Belgian White Ale for $8.99, which I thought was a pretty good price. A lot of specialized beer is lost on me, but someone who is an aficionado of that stuff would find a lot to love here. Seemed to be a lot of local microbrews and foreign stuff. Always a fan of foreign stuff. Beer and the usual array of other adult beverages. Nice, clean, well organized booze purveyors!

Just before Thanksgiving I was trudging home after work and passed by the store a few minutes…read morebefore closing time. I spotted a sign for glögg being sold and thought of someone special who loves it. I popped in and tried to be quick about my purchase so they could continue closing, but in my haste I left my ID case with my credit cards on the counter, not quite in sight of the register clerk. It was a couple days later that I actually realized my ID case was gone (as I much more often use mobile pay). In a panic, I retraced my steps over the weekend. When I got to their shop and asked about my case, they immediately presented it to me right at the counter. They had even gone out of their way to find me on Facebook, though I hadn't spotted their message until after retrieving my case; and they had apparently considered dropping the case off at a nearby clinic since they noticed I had a card there, and they would have my contact info. Very thoughtful and clever! So this isn't about the shop's products (though the glögg was a big hit and I bought a few more bottles) - I think that shopkeepers who actually go out of their way to try to return important/sensitive items to their owners, rather than just dropping it into a lost and found behind the counter to be forgotten, is a business that I want to continue supporting - luckily I live just down the street now (unfortunately my ID hadn't been updated yet!).

Their selection isn't that of Binny's, but for the normal drinker, I guarantee they have whatever it is you need. Their prices tend to be about $1-$4 higher than average, and usually closer to $2 on average. You're obviously paying for convenience, so if you know you're going to need a lot of booze ahead of time, maybe make the trip to Binny's or Jewel. If you just need a case of beer or a bottle of wine/liquor, this store will do just fine.

Additionally I travel to Mexico several times a year and am a long time tequila aficionado. Most of my purchases are from SipTequila, Old Town, Remedy, just to name a few. I have on occasion have purchased from OffPremise as sometimes the have something that my other previously mentioned "go to distributors don't have". Quite honestly I never had an issue with OffPremise until today. I placed two separate orders this week with them, two different bottles / two entirely separate orders, for which I gladly payed two shipping charges for. So the other day I receive ONE package with both of my orders in the same box, mind you I paid for shipping on both as I assumed since two separate orders I would receive two separate shipments. I reach out to Adam Kamin at OffPremise to simply ask that since I did receive both orders in ONE shipment if he could kindly refund me for one shipment since they put both in one shipment ... guess what , his reply was very condescending and told me to go F myself. He'd rather say F you to a customer than to refund me a lousy $13.11. I have been buying tequila online for well over a decade and never have had an issue with any distributor that I've purchased from ... except for this guy !! BUYER BEWARE, steer clear of OffPremise !!!! Go spend your money at reputable distributors such as SipTequila, Old Town, or Remedy. The nerve to tell me to F off, F off to OffPremise and to Adam Kamin. DO BUSINESS ELSEWHERE !!! Don't listen to the responses from this poor excuse for a "so called" businessman. Clearly hasn't been in business very long, maybe his daddy helped him, Adam is definitely not self made and he acts like it !!
