Thanks to all the stars here, I thought I'd check out Foremost, since it's right off the Brown Line, 2 stops from home. Lesson learned... Maybe Foremost is a great place for craft beer, but I was looking for a decent, inexpensive domestic red. What I found were wines I can find elsewhere, but at jacked-up prices. I finally bit the bullet, grabbed a longtime fave bargain zinfandel, marked up to $11.99. Now, I don't expect to pay Binny's prices at neighborhood stores, but that's $2 or $3 more than the same bottle runs at my old corner liquor store, Windy City Liquors. In short, if you're desperate for a BYOB bottle, plan ahead or be prepared to pay the premium. read more

I don't get to Albany Park all that often, but I popped in recently before a friend's party. I am pathologically unable to show up to anyone's house empty handed, 'cos my mama raised me right. This IS an old skool liquor store, and I expected to walk into a decrepit, crumbling place jammed full of cheap beer and those high-alcohol wine cooler thingies, whatever those are, I don't even know. And bunches of Swisher Sweets on the counter next to the Slim Jims. Well, throw your stereotypes out the window, E! This is a clean, bright, fresh-smelling establishment. Cute guy behind the counter bobbing away to "Bust A Move". There might have been Swisher Sweets and Slim Jims, but I didn't see any. What I did come for is beer, 'cos that's what my budget is now. What a selection! And the prices were great! I got a six pack of Hooegarden Belgian White Ale for $8.99, which I thought was a pretty good price. A lot of specialized beer is lost on me, but someone who is an aficionado of that stuff would find a lot to love here. Seemed to be a lot of local microbrews and foreign stuff. Awesome spot to buy alcohol, especially when you go to byob places in the area! The three times I have been to Semiramis, I have stopped here since I always forget to bring the spirits. This place is a pretty nice size...staff is always helpful and friendly plus they have just about everything you need and want liquor-wise. read more

First, when searching for a hard to find beer, you would not believe how many varieties can be found here. Fat tire they've got every flavor, random import beers, micro beers, you name it. They've got all kinds of sizes of beer, even ponies! ( the cute little 8oz bottles of beer). There is just so much alcohol, so many brands, types of alcohol and wine. They have some grocery items too; cat food, cereal, beer nuts, etc. If you are nearby and in need of some spirits this is your one stop shop. Price wise, its not near a supermarket. A 6-pack of a micro or import starts at $9.99. read more

I love this liquor store! There are many, many liquor stores to be had in my neighborhood. Foremost is clean, staff is friendly and they have loads of wine and import beer. Foremost is very close to the Kedzie L stop so you can pick up your hootch before running of to a BYO dinner. They also sell random food items and limes! Before you have dinner at Semiramis, pick up some wine for a lovely Lebanese dinner. read more

Most definitely a fan of my only slightly shady neighborhood Foremost. If you're having dinner at one of the awesome area restaurants, Foremost is the place to stop for the booze you're bringing. They truly do have a decent selection of cold beer. Some of our household's favorite choices throughout our patronage have included Bell's, Magic Hat, Pilsner Urquell, Goose Island, Franziskaner Weissbier, Delirium Tremens, and many more.* This particular location also happens to have a deli and they make CHEAP sandwiches with Boar's Head products--gotta love those quality meats! I do believe they have a $15.00 minimum charge on credit cards...but if you're lucky, one of the nice men behind the counter might make it your lucky day. Or, you could buy a couple of those icky shots that come in sperm-shaped packages, and that might put you over...hah! *Many more may or may not include MGD 64. My fellow aspiring hotties, take note: they only carry the cans. Slight bummer, as I prefer my favorite pisswater to taste less like aluminum. read more

Just moved into the neighborhood and turned to Yelp to point me in the direction of a store where I could pick up some craft beers to consume while packing everything away from boxes. Yelp pointed me to Foremost, and I was very pleased when I walked in and saw a massive selection. I decided on a 6 of Stone Mocha Porter and was surprised once again when I saw they were advertising 120 minute IPA at the register. I guess this should have been a red flag... While it's nice that I was able to pick up a bottle, this stuff should be long gone since it's ultra limited, ever beer fan's wet dream, and had already been on the Chicago market for a month now. That should have told me that not too many craft beer fans pass through this store. When I got home, the 6 of Stone was skunked and of course, I had tossed the receipt, so there was no going back to the store for a refund. Out of curiosity, I returned today and started checking dates on the bottles. While the selection is very large, not a lot of higher end stuff gets sold, and a lot of stuff on the shelves is expired or very close to being over the hill. I'll definitely drop in here for future releases of select brews like Hopslam or KBS, but as far as a casual six pack, I'm going to have to find somewhere else. read more

The best place to pick up some tasty beverages in the neighborhood. They carry all of my favorite beers: Gumball Head, La Fin du Monde, Honey weiss & Berry weiss, Red Stripe, and they have those adorable mini kegs of Heineken. Wine selection is pretty darn big, and it's a great place to browse and find something new if you're not quite sure what you want. Staff is always laid back and friendly, decent prices, and close to the Brown line if you're going to party or a BYOB. Check it out! read more

Since my around the corner liquor store seems to have customer service issues I was on the hunt for a good neighborhood liquor and I think I found it! Granted, this is not kiddy corner from me it is on the way to my commute down town. So why 4 starts? Quick run down, it's close to the Brown Line by Kedzie stop. It has a pretty good beer and wine selection. Has cheap and good hard liquor (depending on what kinda party your heading to, right?). They clerk guy was nice, funny and helpful. I was there on a Friday evening, and the place was kinda busy with about 10 people inside and a steady stream of incoming people. I ended up getting 2 bottles of wines, each for about $12 (it was that kinda party). Overall, think I found my liquor store people. There was also plenty of street parking too. read more

Located near the Kedzie brown line, it's hard to pass up after a long day's work and most certainly a long day's worth of waitin' on that silly ol' brown line. The beer, wine, and liquor selection is wide in array, and the prices are competitive to boot. When you want to stock up your liquor cabinet and don't feel like traveling all the way to a Binny's (the one on Clark) - this is most certainly the place to be. Filling up your well drinks, and a handful of call and premium liquor won't kill your wallet necessarily. They have the kegs, a plethora of 24 packs ranging from your favorite lagers and ales, to your not so common microbrews. The only reason I don't give five stars is the cigarettes. Liquor and smokes go hand in hand, in my opinion. So when they (believe it or not) charge you nearly 8.50 for Camel lights, when a block away at Walgreens or at David's Food and Liquor you can get 'em for 6.50-7... you have to wonder what the hell is going on. read more

This place has everything you need. Tons of import beers. I was really surprised by their selection. They also carry limes if you're into that kinda thing. They have a decent selection of wines as well. Their prices aren't too competitive, but they aren't Binny's are they? very no frills. read more

They have a pretty good craft/import beer selection here. Though they have lots of Goose Island beers here I couldn't find Juliet here, though. I should ask next time if they will order it for me. Awesome selection of beer and wine; good selection of liquor. Given the plethora of BYOB places in the neighborhood, it's a great idea to stop by here first to pick up your wine/beer. The employees are always helpful so if you are looking for something specific, ask! If you are using plastic, there is a $15 minimum. read more

Proximity to home? Check. This place is a quick walk from the Kedzie Brown line stop. And a quick walk to/from my apartment. Selection? Check. When I first entered, I was a bit reluctant, but the selection here is amazing! I always spend way too much time trying to decide what I'm taking home. The prices seem a smidge higher than other (chain) stores, but because it's so close, I'd rather just pay the 2 extra bucks. Wall to wall alcohol. Exactly how a liquor store should be! Excellent selection of beers and liquors from all over the world. The owner has a special connection to the Bell's brewery, and often stacks limited edition Bell's beers. He's quite a beer aficionado, and always willing to talk about it! It's not the best place to buy wine, but the selection of everything else -- some rare specialty ethnic liquors from around the world -- plus the decency and fairness of the owners still make this a 5-star store. read more

Solid Liquor Store in 60618 with vast selection, and my favorite Turkish Beer, Efes Pilsner. More expensive than Cactus, probably because this is CHAIN establishment, much like Dunkin Donuts. But, they have Boar's Head lunchmeat. What is next, Paulina Meat Market II? Even the 60618 Liquor Stores are getting poshy. read more

Great place. One of the few places that carries a few varieties of Nickel and Nickel. Prices are about typical but you can find anything you are looking for there which is ideal. Definitely convenient one stop shop sort of place. read more

Man, i've really grown to love this spot. An old school liquor store. Every time I walk in, I feel like i'm 9 again and i'm with my Dad to pick up a 12 pack of Special Export! It really is the best liquor store in the Lincoln square/Albany Park area. First off, the selection of beer is totally solid. They could use a bigger variety of craft beer singles, both cold and warm, but all in all the current selection is great. Their wines really well chosen and extensive for a corner store. The prices are all very competitive, as are most Foremosts' stores. Definitely worth seeking out if you're in the neighborhood. read more

Glad this spot is in my neighborhood. Just moved here from Roger Park and Foremost has one of the best craft beer selections in Chicago. Fair prices and nice people. Good selection of wine and spirits as well - although there's a few items I wish they would carry that other Foremosts have but I'm sure I can make a request. This is my good to spot for liquor, no doubt. And, in the middle of some BYOB spots, it's in a great location. read more

Good selection of beer at this liquor store and the owner is always interested in speaking with you as well as seeing if he can get you something he may not already carry. Prices on some microbrews are high, but that could be a product of the 2007 hop shortage and increased prices of fuel, grain and other costs associated with making beer and not necessarily high pricing by the retailer. For example a 6 pack of a local microbrew could be anywhere from $7.99 - $12.99 depending on the brewer and what's in it. read more

DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!!!!!! I've never written a bad review in my life, but this one is necessary! I have never been so disrespected by someone in my entire life! I have been looking for zombie dust beer made by 3 Floyds for months for my dad for Father's Day. He told me he had it, which was HUGE so I flew over there to get it. He had three cases left. I asked for all three. He rang it up as 85 dollars. Not rudely at all I asked why it was so much!? He flipped out said he can charge whatever he wants for his beer and told me "no beer for me." I got really upset and begged him to please sell it to me. He said he would only sell me one now.I'm not a feminist at all,but I could tell that's the reason he treated me like that. Long story short please do not support this liquor store. A absolute horrible human being and even worse customer service. read more
