DO NOT RENT FROM BUDGET CAR RENTAL in Leon, Guanajuato Silao (BJX airport) Here's what happened…read more They are shady as crap. So, my husband and I booked a full size vehicle, since we were traveling with my parents. Reservation went through online ok. When we got to the airport, the guy was gone, we waited about 20 minutes for him to (hopefully) return. He walked us over to our car, and he gave us a tiny, smaller than economy vehicle and we said NO, this is not what we booked. He assured us that in Mexico, this tiny thing, was considered a full size vehicle. (He lied) TO top it off the car was empty in gas. We took the vehicle and 20 minutes later we called the phone number and Rosalio picked up, he said he KNEW it WAS NOT the car we booked but said, he gave it to us anyway because it's the only one he had. So he admitted he lied. Then he said, he would have an SUV being dropped off that night and would call us back and NEVER DID. Our contract was written and paid for a FULL size vehicle. I called earlier today to get a refund but they said they are franchised. The lady that answered the phone says, she will give me a call tomorrow to see if the refund is possible, but I am not holding my breath on them calling me back. Their phone number calling from the US is 011-52-472-748-2001. My advice, DO NOT RENT FROM THIS PEOPLE!

I politely had him the cards. He looked at his paperwork, barjed off at me the total for the rental was $400. I looked at him and said no, it's $182. He responded with you have to buy liability. I said no, it is included in the carentals.com/Expedia reservation. He responded, "that works for you, doesn't work for me. Go to another company to get a car!"...never been so rudely handled in a customer service situation. We ended up at Mex, was wonderful, courtesious and professional. Never again Budget!

This was the best encounter with Avis staff at BJX Airport. There are some airport locations I…read moretravel regularly when I go to Mexico, but I have been a Sixt member for a long time so I gave Avis a try when visiting this city. I am glad I did because my experience with them went well and smooth, both in service staff and vehicle condition. Moreover Jose Pedro and Cristian at the service counter went well beyond my expectations due to the fact that I had to leave one of my suitcases at the airport because the POORLY TRAINED, LOWLIFE, IGNORANT, supervisor from VOLARIS IVAN MANRIQUEZ did not let me check in my baggage. These two gentlemen which they had nothing to do with my situation offered to store it while someone picks it up or even ship it to my house. After this wonderful and unique experience AVIS has gained my business from now on. Jose Pedro and Cristian really understand the meaning of CUSTOMER SERVICE. Once again, thank you, thank you. I hope AVIS corporate reads this review and gives you guys a raise or promotion.

When we got there, the car was great. Clean and in great shape. They walked us around and pointed out every scratch, ding, dent, and mark. Every one. We knew right away that they were going to ding us for ANY mark we made so we were sure to point out everything we say. We returned the car in perfect condition, but the guy found a ding on the rim of a tire. The rim. They NEVER inspected or noted anything on the rims when we rented it and then they claimed the damage was caused by us, which it wasn't. They refused to listen and when the bill game, they charged us $300 USD. That basically doubled the cost of the rental. We disputed the claim when we got home but so far they have not resolved the issue. The workers there are dead set on finding ways to increase profits. They required insurance even though our credit card provided coverage, and then they manufactured an additional $300 in charges. Unbelievable. I don't know if the other companies are any better, but I WOULD NOT use Enterprise to rent a car again.

We'd circled the town multiple times before a policeman advised him that the hotel is on a street where cars aren't allowed. Hotel 1850 is located right on the Jardin de la Union, the most central gathering place in all of Guanajuato. Yes, you can't get there by car but hotel staff is happy to meet you one short block away to guide you and your luggage directly there. And from there? Well, this is the perfect location for everything you may wish to do in Guanajuato City. I spent 3 nights here, at a cost of about $227US per night and that included daily breakfast for 2 at the restaurant beside the hotel. My room was nicely decorated, immaculate, featured a safe, mini-bar, ample hot water, and good water pressure. A rooftop bar plays loud music so I was pleased to be on a low floor but there's also a lot of music in the Jardin out front. Happily, closing tight the windows in the room drowned out all outside sound. The hotel itself is quite nice and safe, with a doorman and workers always right up front. Staff were warm and hospitable and versed in English. I didn't ask much of anything but they made it clear they could make arrangements for wherever I might wish to go or anything I might wish to see. On site spa services and a gym add to the offerings. I chose Hotel 1850 after doing a lot of research and was pleased to learn that I'd chosen well.

Whatever we asked they right away were so happy to help. Really this town is just full of friendly people, but it's greatly appreciated when you're staying in a new place where you barely speak the language. And the bar right next to the pool was really one of the best in town. They provided us with food and beverages (those packaged sandwiches with pepper jam are fantastic!) to help accommodate us during the long bus commute. There were also plenty of entertainment options, including several movies (I finally was able to watch the second Spongebob movie, in Spanish of course!). There was also this interesting word search game that showed me several words I've never seen before, but I guess I only know high school Spanish. Tip: You shouldn't play that game if you get motion sickness like I do. By the time I finished the game, I was in tears from a nasty headache trying to concentrate. Don't be me. Enjoy your bus ride! The seats recline and and there are plenty of places to hold your things, like hangers for a trash bag.
