I hesitate to do this review as I want the hotel to myself. But I'll be fair. This hotel is great. Excellent location right across from the little garden or ficus trees and all the partiville. Came here for first time with the wife for our 21st anniversary. Waiting in our room was a hand written card wishing us an excellent 20th. So funny. Also a nice little tart paste. So good. The room is roomy. Has a great flatscreen TVs with Satilite tv. Excellent shower and bathroom. It's literally 15 feet from a huge party of music restaurants a garden pop up craft tables But what's crAzy when inside the hotel room you can't hear anything or barely anything. This place is comfy and I may only stay here when I come to GTO again.

Hotel 1850 is a boutique hotel directly across from the Jardin de la Union. It includes a delicious breakfast next door at Casa Valadez, one of the top restaurants in Guanajuato City. The rates range from $180-$300 (depending on room choice). Lorena and the rest of the staff will take good care of you. It's our favorite hotel in all of Guanajuato & we stayed at Casa Del Rector, Edelmira, Villa Maria Christina, & Casa Virreyes. Don't forget to enjoy the beautiful terrace.

Be prepared to be pampered! Hotel 1850 is the place to stay if you want to be centrally located. The hotel is beautifully decorated and the entire staff is a solid 10 in customer service. You are made to feel welcome!! Our stay included free breakfast at Casa Valadez restaurant which offered a large selection of breakfast dishes, all delicious! The parking in GTO can be challenging but the hotel staff took care of our parking needs at a very reasonable cost. We stayed in room Sara which features a vey comfortable king sized bed. This room does not have any windows but is perfect for sleeping in as its almost soundproof. Perfect for two persons but not ADA compatible as there is a two step level that leads to the restroom/shower area. Several nights we returned from our days activities to find a special treat. The best surprise was an assortment of macaroons, unbeknownst to them, we were celebrating a birthday! All in all the best part of this hotel is the staff. They were so attentive, always a smile and seeming to guess our every need. The day we left we had an early morning flight. Wouldn't you know it, the staff had our car ready, helped us with our bags and had even packed a lunch to go!! Bravo Hotel 1850!!

You wish you could stay in someone's historic home in the city's centro district. Look no further than La Casona de Don Lucas Hotel.  This 18th century home was updated and converted to a small boutique hotel.  It has the modern conveniences but is still a little rough around the edges to maintain its charm.  Walk out onto the balcony see history in all directions. Out the front door you can walk to all the attractions and beauty you've come to see, and the traditions you've come to experience, and the foods you want to taste. Our room slept four with the main bed on the third floor, and two double beds in a loft with a small table. Just like 15th century, there are no elevators so pack light.  The decor was basic but functional. All three beds were very comfortable. There was plenty of drawer and closets if you need it. There's a couple small sitting areas. Unlike the 15th century, the hotel offers decent internet. The room was mostly clean with the exception of the bathroom which our Room Attendant went above and beyond to try to remedy. Generally, we found the staff to be friendly. Service is on par for a three star hotel. You will normally get what you ask for, but not anticipated. For example, we had a room which slept four on two floors, and only one refillable water bottle and two glasses were provided.   Breakfast was included with our room rate.  It's limited but solid. Chilaquiles, eggs, chicken Milanese strips, frijoles, lentils, and a selection of sliced fruits, breads and pastries. All you need to get out the door.  You are in the center of it all so your room won't be silent.  That means the last thing you hear before nodding off are bells of Basílica Colegiata de Nuestra Señora de Guanajuato which chime on the quarter hour and bells that count the hours at the top of each hour.  These are the first things you will likely hear when you first wake up along with the street coming back to life.   There is no valet Parking and self parking is about a 12 minutes walk away through the centro streets and tunnels. On arrival, someone from the hotel rode over with us and walked us back.  On check-out another gentleman was happy to bring the car.  We would stay again.  The location is excellent.  It's historic and has character.  The rooms are spacious, and we liked the staff.  The hotel is also priced right.

From the moment we made a phone call to inquire about directions, the staff was incredibly helpful. They guided us on how to find parking for our car, and we opted to use the valet service for about $15, which was very convenient. Upon arrival, the receptionist was friendly and welcoming. The on-site restaurant was nice, offering great food, and the staff was amazing. Our room had a charming hacienda feel and was clean and comfortable. The hotel's location is fantastic, very close to the center of Guanajuato with access to nice restaurants and wonderful churches. Overall, we had an amazing experience and would highly recommend this hotel.

There's a cafe down the street and tons of good restaurants nearby and tour buses close by. The staff is friendly and will greet you as you pass by. It's welcoming. I wanted to stay longer, but work calls. Another thing worth mentioning is that it's beautiful inside. It's clear that the hotel utilized all high quality handmade and hand painted wood finishings and antique decorations. Inside you are surrounded by the selected paintings, the modern sculptures, soft armchairs and sofas, and the Tiffany lamps. The views on the terrace and the fifth floors are breathtaking. I posted some photos so you can see my room and the terrace view. There are spots to sit and relax on comfortable furniture. You can grab your food to go at some restaurants in GTO and have it inside the hotel. I saw extra blankets and towels on the bedrooms. If you need lotion, shampoo, soap, they have extra. There's a standing fan and television in each of the bedrooms. Also, I noticed windows and outlets in each room. There's gorgeous tile inside the rooms. Downsides: the walls may be thin for some people, but the quality of service outweighed the noise. In addition, I smelled smoke from courtyard from neighbors so I'm not sure if there are non-smoking rooms but this is something to consider when looking at hotels. Otherwise, I enjoyed my stay here and would definitely recommend it to others!

Cecilia checked us in and couldn't have been nicer. The room was spacious enough, and the bathroom was well-appointed with a great shower. My only quibble was that it didn't have a mini-fridge (although there was a place for one). We asked about either changing rooms or having one brought up. It turned out that only four of the rooms had them installed, but they did provide one for us on the second day. The staff was lovely and Rafael was especially helpful in providing us with tips about getting around and what to see. We chose this hotel because it's not in the center, which can be very noisy at night, and because we knew it would have air conditioning. The only drawback to the location is that it's a 10-15 minute walk to the main part of town where all the action (and restaurants) are found. You do get a bit weary trekking back and forth. The only other issue was that my partner got food poisoning from the chicken sandwich he ordered for lunch in the bar. It was undercooked and laid him low for 24 hours. But the breakfasts we had there were great.

We were treated to a spectacular dinner. Dinner at the Villa Maria Cristina of salmon on tortilla's, tuna on toast, Guacamole with cured beef, pork rind and tortilla chips, Venezuelan arapas with Chicken and avocado; Durado fish with smashed potatoes & asparagus; mahi mahi with mango salsa on Mexican cheese risotto w/edible flowers washed down with a perfect half salt half chili margarita on the rocks and my room for two nights. It's an absolutely stunning property (once you get past the lackluster reception area) and it's up the hill, about a 20-25 min walk from the historic center of town. If you don't like to walk or you're averse to walking uphill (or taking taxis), this is not the place for you. It has a great, beautifully heated outdoor pool, as well as a geothermal pool and hot tub in the spa area (open to all guests). We loved using both. The on-site restaurant is good, but so expensive compared to all the other nice restaurants in town. Like, a glass of apple juice was $6 USD. (In comparison, we went down the street and had a huge, amazing omelette AND a latte for $6.) That said, there are some downsides. Our room was large, with a living room area and bedroom area, but it didn't feel warm and cozy (though the bed was comfortable). It wasn't a room in which we really wanted to hang out. The shower wasn't great, and the toilet leaked--which of course they came and fixed, but it was a bit of a pain. We tried to use the hot tub, and apparently, they don't leave it on and heated all day / evening, so when we arrived it was cold. We had to call someone to turn it on, and they said it would be hot "in a few hours." But would I stay there again? Probably! If the price was right. We got a good deal, so that made us happy. We also discovered that there are some fantastic restaurants at the top of the hill, a short walk from the hotel, so it turned out to be more convenient of a location than we thought.
