Well yesterday I finally made it and I am extremely happy that I did, my favorite food is Indian I love everything about Indian food, its always so flavorful some of it packs a punch and some doesn't, I like my food on the mild side but there are times I like a little bit of heat. Coming to Desi, I found everything to make the foods I hold dear and then some, I think they were the owners that I spoke too and they were extremely helpful, nice, and very patient when I asked how to make certain dishes. I've stopped in about 10 times over the past three years, and every visit reminds me why I keep coming back. Tucked away inside is a hot bar serving some of the most delicious tamales I've had anywhere in the Portland area. The masa is what really stands out. It's perfectly seasoned, flavorful, and incredibly satisfying on its own. You can tell these tamales are made with care and tradition. Every bite had me wondering why more people don't know about this place. Most of the staff primarily speak Spanish, but don't let that stop you. A smile, a little patience, and some friendly body language go a long way. Everyone has always been welcoming, and the food speaks for itself.
