Drove way out of my way to check this place out and was feeling good about it when I saw several cars here before opening. Clearly this place has regular. I was greeted and the guy was as nice as you could expect. I respected a sample of the pepperoni. Not only did he accommodate, it was a generous piece. Unfortunately, I wasn't impressed with the flavor so I passed. I wanted to try the jerky, but they have it prepackaged. I bought a package and can tell you, when I tried it, I regretted the purchase. It wasn't smokey, and didn't have a strong beef flavor. Last was the Red Hot Sausage. They claimed it's the best Hot Link west of the Mississippi. The link appeared to be made out of quality ingredients, but I made one when I got home and it was at it's absolute best 3/10 on the heat index. Any grocery store sells hot links hotter than this. In Seattle you can go to the Oberto store and they sell a sausage called Southern Brand. It's spicy, hot and flavorful. This place really lied about their product and earned this poor review. I'd give them a 10 for service, but the product, at least the ones I tried were terrible. You don't find many butchers any more. Maybe it's because grocery stores carry the popular cuts, or maybe it's because meat is so inexpensive at Costco. Ask me, it's because place like this claim to have unique product that is ultimately flavorless and overpriced. read more

Been coming here since the 90's. My absolute favorite are the pepper steaks. I don't know if it's the cut of meat or the pepper sauce marinate, but I can't get enough of them. They have such a huge selection of all meats and some seafood, as well as different sides and rubs and sauces. When you walk in, you need to grab and number and hang out- they have an online ordering system also..staff is really nice and knowledgeable. read more

Our family has been shopping here for YEARS. Not only did they give our eldest her first job...but they truly sell the best BACON I have ever had! Recently I headed in to buy my usual 2-3 pounds of boneless skinless thighs and some ground beef (and of course BACON!). And instead of.stopping there I thought it would be nice to get our newly DELIGHTFUL four footed members of the family some.doggie bones. Luke O. Went back 4 times (and these days...its ALWAYS BUSY!) to make sure our puppies Hank & Scooter each got a bone a piece that were similar in size. That was a month ago. We finally moseyed on in here. Wow! What an awesome selection of meats and some seafood choices. The prices were very reasonable and the quality and freshness were perfect. The dude-behind-the-counter was very friendly and knowledgeable. The only thing that bugged us is that he didn't want to grind the sirloin steak down for us to make fresh hamburger patties. But, I get it. It was the beginning of a holiday weekend and the place was bustling. No biggie. We'll ask next time when it's not so crazy. read more

So I've been going here for many years and thought I should give them a shout out. Good selection and quality of assorted beats. Meats and other goodies. Some of my favorites are the house smoked sausages, bratwurst, hot dogs, hot links, ect. Also the breakfast sausage has great flavor. The baby back ribs are meaty and they happily remove the membrane for you. The pepper steaks are a real favorite also. Staff are always friendly. I grew up in the Gresham area, and while I haven't lived there in quite some time it's always great to revisit White's Meats as a local staple. You will be hard pressed to find better quality elsewhere and their products are worth every penny. Not only will you find quality meats, but side dishes, seasonings, local goods and breads, etc. Walk in, take a number, and be ready to order! Things move fast here if they are busy, but their staff is ready and super helpful. Some of my favorites include their bacon wrapped filet, sausages, stuffed game hens, jerky, and pickles! You can also find Sayler's products here which are some of my fave. Can't say enough good things about this place. I can be a touch hard to find/easy to pass if you aren't familiar with the area but there's plenty of parking and on weekends they will sometimes even have a tent set up outside. read more

My first Oregon review. Whites Country Market is in Gesham, and one of the best meat markets I've ever went to. My first experience was home smoked Maple flavored bacon. We always cook our bacon in the oven, and their bacon is well suited to this. Thick cut and tasty. Just delicious. Went back to Whites yesterday and the wife got me a Porterhouse steak for my birthday. I cooked it on the gas grill and it was wonderful. To sum it up, Whitesis my new go to place for meat. Holy Moly! Haphazard and out of control. The photos are incredibly deceiving. It's a small area you stand in front of a butcher counter. It's lined with meat behind a foggy scratched dirty looking glass wall. The prices are super high, you'd have to be there for a special dinner or event for it to be worth it. I bought 3lbs chuck roast for $9lb and it wasn't any better than Fred Meyer beef. The service is confusing, no one is paying attention. If you are a Masker and appreciate shops following COVID guidelines.... You may be uncomfortable here. It looks, feels and probably IS very dirty/dated and not ventilated well enough to feel clear of exposure. This is by no means trying to say their meat handling is improper.... This is just the outside customer experience from shopping at the counter. read more

Whites would happily charge you more than any other butcher in town to completely mess up your order and offer you nothing in return. Take your meat processing elsewhere folks. I've been coming to Whites for many years and love the quality of the meat and the service used to be fantastic. I had them process a pig that was locally raised and the order got SO MESSED UP. The pig was not cut EVEN CLOSE to my requested cuts. I asked for a spiral ham and was told they could not do so at this time (no big deal) so I told them, and was very specific, that I needed the hams cut down to smaller portions. It was written on the order form. I was given approx 50lbs of solid frozen WHOLE ham. What the heck am I supposed to do with these? Thaw them out, cut them down and re-freeze them? What am I paying YOU for? (and they charged me full price) I ordered breakfast sausage and they did NOT give me ANY whatsoever (but they charged me for it) I wasn't offered any trade for the products I didn't get or any sort of pricing accommodation. I kept pointing to my order form and asking where "this was" and where "that was" and I just kept being ignored. I asked them if I could just leave it with them until it all got figured out and come back another time to pick it up and was told "No" there isn't anything to figure out, it is what it is...They didn't credit me for the products that they charged me for and were not included in my order. They took my money and I was not given what I paid for. There was no "lets make this right" or "Hey, lets get this figured out" attitude. Here's the real crime: They never apologized or even seemed to care whatsoever. Just shrugged their shoulders and walked off. I wasn't going to make a scene so I left. After living in east county for 35 years, Whites has always been my go-to meat store. However, about 4 or 5 years ago I noticed the quality start to drop, getting worse with each passing year. Their beef used to be choice or better. Now it's barely select grade. Their pork and chicken comes from the very same places Walmart, Winco, and Safeway get theirs (I asked). The difference? They lay it out in their fancy cooler, and of course charge much more. When it comes to the ground meats, like hamburger, sausage, etc.? There's now a good chance you'll encounter something crunchy. (gristle or bone pieces) That was never the case, and I actually stopped buying it because it continued to show up even after complaining. Even their famous beef sticks have fallen into the gross zone. Squeeze them and you'll pop the grease from the end. (also never the case before) One last note. White's own website backs up my claim! You won't find a review newer than 2017 or lower than 4 stars. I left one much like this and they didn't post it. And I'm sure mine was one of MANY critical reviews swept under the rug. AVOID this company. (You're better off with Gardners or one of the smaller butchers on Sandy Blvd.) read more

I freaking love this place! I mean... I'm an extreme carnivore... so of course I love it! It's close to my house thankfully... When you walk into this seemingly steady and calm, but actually bustling and extremely busy location --- make sure you get a number right away if you want to buy anything! Large display case of fresh meats of all kinds, including fish. Coolers with prepackaged meats etc to grab and go (after your number is called)... Ok love the fresh cut cheese etc... love that I can get 3% ground beef.... 12oz bacon wrapped filet for just over $8... cube steaks, chuck roast, top sirloin, porterhouse, t-bone, tenderloin, ham hocks, skirt steak, pepper steak, house made chicken cordon blue, sausages of all types, bulk sausage, shrimp, halibut, etc..... and then to make things interesting home made pepperoni sticks, and fresh dog food! This place isn't necessarily your bargain location, but it's competitive and if you want fresh meat this is the place!!!
