We delivered at Community Memorial Hospital in Ventura. Her prenatal visits were extremely helpful as we finalized our birth plan. She was very organized and the topics she brought up spurred good discussions about what my wife really desired for her birth. During labor she arrived at the perfect time. Our goal was to labor at home as long as possible before going to the hospital. She gave us the confidence to do just that. Saralynn was attentive and sensitive. Her techniques were wonderful. For example, as my wife moved into transition and the labor became more intense her sounds became high pitched and her body would tense. Saralynn began to make low pitch moaning sounds, which my wife mimicked and allowed her to relax and stay calm. As the father I would not have known when exactly to go to the hospital, but Saralynn knew. My wife started to feel "pushy" and so we packed up and went. At the delivery she became a great advocate and assistant. Bringing my wife water to drink, cold compresses for her forehead. Saralynn encouraged us to get my wife on her side, which she stayed and delivered in that position. Her coaching in the final moments (crowning) were spot on, telling my wife to pant was key to reducing peri trauma. Our baby was born in less than an hour after arriving at the hospital, perfect timing. And using our camera she got the pictures we wanted. Postpartuam visits were also very helpful. She showed us a great swaddle. Gave my wife some helpful breastfeeding tips. And pointed us to some local parent, new mother and breastfeeding support groups. Bottom line is, Saralynn was wonderful coach and advocate. She complimented out natural childbirth class perfectly and helped us have the birth we wanted. Thank you Saralynn.
