I'm referring to my experience with Dr. Halweg, who, after a series (roughly 45-minutes) of behavioral questions, diagnosed me with ADHD. What I did not also realize is that Dr. Halweg is also focused on deeper problems within me that I was not aware of and brilliantly brought them to light. Today, I feel that my productivity has more than 10x. To some, this might find ridiculous, but it is true. If you were to ask anyone that knows me, they would almost always share with you that I work hard. However, what many people probably are not aware of is that even though I worked hard, I have always been frustrated with my output. Getting myself to focus in the past -- especially on tasks that I did not want to do -- was incredibly difficult. When I first heard the diagnosis, it was hard for me to believe. Through hard work and luck, I have been fortunate to do many things, including giving the commencement address for my college. It blew my mind that even though I achieved so much, I could have had an attention deficit disorder. I have always had a hunch, but I never thought that I genuinely did because of what I accomplished. If you are someone who thinks you may have ADHD, I highly recommend you give Dr. Halweg's office a call. No matter your age. Trust me; it is life-changing. Let me say this up front, Dr. Lee is NOT my physician but he is my grandparents and my uncle's…read morephycisian. I am always bringing them in to see Dr. Lee and usually sit in on their appointments to make sure everything goes okay. So I thought I would write them a review from a non-biased, indirect patient, point of view. There is a lot of parking in the Queen's POB 2 (Parking is $1.00 every half an hour after validation). He is located on the 3rd floor, suite 303. Walking into his office there was a small waiting area with magazines to look at. The receptionist greeted us and we had a seat. Usually we're waiting another 15-20 minutes after our appointment time. This, I don't really like considering we're paying for parking and you set an appointment time and that's when I'm expecting to see the doctor. The reason I gave Dr. Lee one star is because of his service and people skills. As a doctor you are always interacting with people (your patients). This is a very important skill to have especially if your patients are depending on you, as a doctor with their health. Like I said, I've sat in multiple appointments with my relatives making sure everything is taken care of and I am somewhat appalled with how he interacts with my relatives. When asking questions he is always sighing in between questions like he's exasperated or irritated or something. I don't know if he's always having a bad day or always stressed but that's not the way to interact with your patients. Very blunt and very unprofessional in my opinion. I really hope he isn't like this with all his patients but this is just what my experiences are with him. Others may have a different opinion. Some of my relatives have a hard time hearing him and it seems like when he has to repeat himself he gets more irritated. If he reads this, I hope he takes this as constructive criticism and doesn't takes it personally. Does Dr. Lee have credentials? Absolutely, and I can't take that away from him. I saw his certificates up on the wall in his office. He graduated from University of Hawaii at Manoa in May of 1979 and has been practicing officially since February of 1981. So he has been practicing for almost 31 years. He must be doing something right, I personally... I'm just not seeing it. He is very thorough, listens to everything you say, and explains every reason for why he is doing certain things or sending you for labs. He is the nicest and personable doctor out of the all the doctors I have met. As with any thorough good doctor, he never rushes through his patients appointment so with that you might have a wait of 20-30 ish minutes after checking in for your appointment before you see him. Please be understanding with this and plan accordingly. He talks thoroughly with his patients so all their needs are met and you are not his only patient. Accessibility: Poor. Attention to Patient Needs: Poor…read more Bedside Manner: Poor. Initially friendly, but quickly impatient. Interrupts, does not allow the patient to communicate. Assumes rather than inquires. Lectures rather than listens. Knowledge Base: Questionable, remedial. My Experiences: Dr. Behling was physically absent at 2 of 3 in-office appointments, unprepared at 3rd visit. At my initial assessment, the MA took my vitals, led me to an exam room, and then after a long wait brought in an iPad with Dr. Behling on a video chat app. If you work in healthcare, you know all initial assessments are performed in-person. This also happened at my third visit. It is frustrating to drive 35 minutes to an office and sit there for an hour only to discover that the doctor is on a ship in the middle of the ocean, using satellite internet with unreliable service. Dr. Behling's impatience, assumptiveness, and proclivity to jump to incorrect conclusions impeded effective communication and appropriate delivery of care. A healthcare assessment starts with the physician asking questions and listening to the patient's answers. Not only did Dr. Behling not ask the questions, but when given a small amount of information he immediately jumped to wrong conclusions and did not allow the opportunity to communicate further. When I called to report a problem, Dr. Behling refused to take or return my phone call and instead instructed his staff to set up a telephone visit a couple weeks later. This resulted in me seeking medical advice elsewhere, but Dr. Behling did not bother to ask that question either. Testosterone Pellet Placement: Dr. Behling did not demonstrate expertise with this procedure and would benefit from further education. He placed the pellets in the middle of the gluteals instead of more towards the hip. Every time I sat down, such as to drive home, the pressure of sitting made it feel that the pellets would be pushed out. I was constantly checking for correct placement. This area was very sore for 2 weeks and I now have a noticeable scar in a once beautiful area. I'm sad to say I experienced very poor delivery of care. Before writing this review, I attempted to communicate these issues to both Dr. Behling and his office staff; however, his office manager/wife was more interested in defending him than listening, resulting in her outright contradicting her own husband's medical instructions.
