Worst Notary and Customer service…read more I had 10 documents notarized at this UPS Store, and we paid $15 per document. ($150 total) We later went to the California Secretary of State's office in Los Angeles to have the documents apostilled, but we were told that the notarization was invalid because the notary certificate was missing the required statutory wording and/or was outdated. Because we needed to send the documents out urgently, we contacted the UPS Store and spoke with the manager Essence and told her that the secretary of state office rejected the notary and I would provide the rejection letter provided by the secretary of state. She then agreed to offer a refund provided that I have provide the letter to them when I come back to the store as they could not process a refund over the phone. Since the notarization was invalid and we could not use those documents, we had to pay another notary near the Secretary of State's office in Los Angeles to have all the documents properly notarized. We then went back to the UPS Store in Temecula and spoke with Lydia (who did the notary) and requested a refund because we were unable to use the notarization service we paid for. She said that she cannot issue a refund were told to call the supervisor the following day because it was already late. The next day, I contacted the supervisor and was told that they would not issue a refund because the notary claimed that we had refused to put the required wording on the documents to make the notarization valid. This explanation makes absolutely no sense to us. We paid the notary specifically to properly notarize our documents. Why would we intentionally refuse something that was necessary to make the notarization valid? We had no reason to refuse any required procedure, especially when our goal was to have the documents legally notarized and apostilled. We also told the manager and supervisor that if there is a disagreement about what happened, they should investigate it instead of simply taking the notary's word for it. If there is CCTV footage or any other evidence showing that we refused to comply with a required procedure, we are willing to have that reviewed. However, it is unfair to deny our refund based solely on the notary's statement without investigating what actually happened and while on the phone they just hang up on me and whenI called again and asked who's the best person to contact to discuss our concerns and essance responded "I don't know, there's no one and I cannot help you with that" good thing I put our conversation in recorder the 2nd time I called. I have all conversations recorded. At this point, we feel that the manager and supervisor are simply refusing to help because they do not want to investigate the situation or take responsibility for an invalid notarization. We are asking for a fair review of what happened and a refund for the notarization service that we could not use.
