The store was nearly empty--no customers in sight--and as I walked directly to the cashier counter, the associate stopped me and insisted I go back and enter through the designated queue lane, which is typically used when there's a long line. I explained that there was no one ahead of me and that I was simply taking the most direct route. Still, she insisted I follow her instructions, claiming it was store policy.
