Our favorite Indian restaurant ever. The staff make us feel like apart of their family every single time, we love the people that work there. The food is to absolutely die for. The vibe inside is so comfy cozy, and makes you feel welcomed in. Lovely non-ai art murals dress the walls. They have a great buffet during the week if you're looking to try new foods, it's how we've expanded our palette! Pashwari naan is an absolute must get, it's sweet crispy coconut shavings ontop of the warm bread, dipped into a curry of your choice and it's incredible. My mouth is watering writing this. We love this place and try to go often because they deserve the business. Lovely people making lovely food. I've been back and forth between NYC and Philadelphia now for several years. It's enabled me to sample foods from both cities....while New York will always be my 'restaurant Mecca', Philly's been a nice touch. I hadn't yet found a truly good Indian restaurant in Philly, until last night. Amma's came close, but fell short due to a goat dish I had with no goat! We happened upon Lilly's by looking for 'good restaurants in the Jenkintown area' on Yelp. Ironically, we'd walked by it dozens of times without noticing it, as there are other stores and restaurants in the area. It had several good reviews and since my partner had NEVER had Indian food before (I know it's hard to believe), I felt this was a must try! We walked in and immediately noticed how nice the interior looked - beautiful murals on the walls, a quiet, a relaxed atmosphere and everything looked clean and new. I knew exactly what we were going to order - the same two dishes I've been having for decades in New York, DC and other Indian restaurants I'd been to....Chicken Tikka Masala and Lamb Rogan Josh. Of course, we added an order of Naan. I initially judge these dishes based on the quality of the meat - in this case - chicken and lamb. I started with the Tikka Masala - as soon as I tasted a bite of the chicken, I knew we'd come to the right place! It was a delicious piece of lean, tender, white meat that had the most luscious, creamy, tomato based sauce - not too spicy ( we requested a very low 'heat'/spice level. My partner had never tasted a curry sauce before and was very impressed - she loved the dish! Next up, the Lamb Rogan Josh! I was pleasantly surprised to see large, lean, tender chunks of lamb in the pot that was served. The sauce was a little spicier than the Tikka Masala, but had an excellent flavor! It complimented the chicken dish perfectly. Both the lamb and the chicken were high quality meats that enabled these dishes to shine! Not to forget the delicious Naan - I took several scoops of both chicken and lamb and put them between a folded piece of Naan! Such a great place to get Indian food. Came in with a party of 3 for our monthly ladies dinner. We were greeted and seated right away, waitstaff were friendly and fast to bring the food and drinks. The decor was really nice and made you feel like you were in another country, the music also added to the ambience of the restaurant. The food was incredible, I'm not big on spice but I nibbled on a little bit of everything even the spicy things. Everything was so delicious- prob the best Indian food I've had in a long time. This restaurant looks like it's a family owned business. The restaurant itself isn't big but very nice interior and unique. i say unique because they have 2 people playing live music. Parking: Street parking. We got lucky and found a spot literally right across from the restaurant. I believe there is a nearby parking lot too. Service: Wonderful! There were 2 servers on and off checking with us to see if we need anything. They also offer complimentary Rupee beer that night I dine in there with my husband. They also offer complimentary Henna too! That's I'm not sure if it was that night or a permanent offer. Food: I love it! The mango lassi was delicious! The food here is honestly so good everything was packed with flavor and tasted really fresh and authentic. The salmon was especially flavorful, and you can tell all the meats, including the chicken, are really high quality. You can tell a lot of care goes into each dish. The service was just as great, super attentive but not in an overwhelming way, which made the whole experience feel really comfortable and easy. The atmosphere is warm and inviting too, the kind of place you actually want to sit and enjoy your time. And Nidhi, one of the staff, was amazing she truly went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. You can tell she genuinely cares, and it made a big difference. So we have had friends talk about this place for a while now. I'm so glad we finally took the time to try it out. We seemed to be the first customers of the day and were soon joined by others. Quiet atmosphere, gentle Indian music in the background, and inspiring wall murals complete the scene. We ordered a smathering of items. Started with fresh squeezed lemonade and Soda Naranga. Really enjoyed the soda. Lemonade was okay. Goat curry, Keena Naan with lamb, Chicken 65, Gobhi Manchurian, and vegetable samosa. All a delight of flavors. Samosa was descent, curry at #3 heat was just spicy enough, Naan, especially when dipped in curry, was very good. My favorite bite was the gobhi manchuruan. We had a lot of food to pack up and I am willing to bet my daughter will really like the chicken 65. Very well flavored bites of chicken. read more

Loved our dinner at Lilly's! The staff was friendly and attentive, and the food was served hot and fast. The food is pretty good at Lilly's but the system for ordering is the pits! We are still not going to restaurants so we do delivery a lot. I try to order in a way that benefits the restaurants, but I will have to rethink Lilly's next time. I ordered through Toast and it clearly says that there is no delivery fee (see attached screen shot) but they charged me $5 plus a $.99 fee. When I tried to order through some of the other delivery services at 4pm the "schedule for later" button was grayed out until the next day! In addition, the menu and the pricing were different on every site. I couldn't order plain naan on Toast so I got what I thought was the next best thing - Bhatura - and it was awful. Dry and chewy. Plain naan is available on the other sites so why not Toast?! I placed my order around 3:30 - 4pm and on the GrubHub site I couldn't get a dinner menu and there was nothing but vegetarian options. When I looked later at night the dinner menu was there. Between the menu and pricing discrepancies, the varying delivery fees, and the menu not being available on some sites ordering was so frustrating that I probably won't order from them again. I felt like I was given the runaround at every turn - and the prices were all over the place! Every site was different. I don't need the aggravation and there are other Indian restaurants to choose from. read more

Was on a business trip and was looking for something fun and interesting to eat. Looked at a variety of websites and this place came highly recommended. With good reason! I got there a little on the early side and the place was fairly empty, which made me nervous. No reason. Warmly greeted by staff and seated. Placed my order with the attentive waitstaff and my order came out after just a short wait. I ordered dishes that were somewhat familiar to me and I wasn't disappointed. This was some of the most delicious and aromatic food I've had. Had options for how spicy I wanted it and I kept it mild, which can sometimes be bland. This was not. Full of flavors. Naan was warm and flavorful. Hope I do this trip again soon I can go back. read more

We had a great Valentines Day dinner at Lilly's. It is BYOB, even though it doesn't say that anywhere on the website. We called before and asked. Reservations are recommended as the place was full by 6:30. We had a 6:00 reservation and it was pretty empty when we got there. We ordered veggie samosas and gobhi manchurian for appetizers. The samosa filling lacked salt but was overall very good! The gobhi manchurian was so delicious! For entrees, we ordered chicken madras curry and my favorite, malai kofta. Both were so delicious and full of amazing flavor. The size of the naan was huge compared to other Indian restaurants, almost twice the size! We got garlic naan and amritsari kulcha. My husband and I both liked the charred flavor of the naan. We were very pleased with our meal and will definitely return! read more

2nd visit but first review of Lilly's. We made a weekend reservation, as it starts getting crowded around 6:30pm. While overall good, there were some things that were lacking. First time I dined here was better, but perhaps it was because it wasn't a full house like it was this time. Appetizers we started with Samosa Chaat and Chicken 65. Both well done and no complaints there. I appreciate the Samosa Chaat is served hot as opposed to cold, which can be the case at other restaurants. Main dishes were the Shrimp Korma and Butter Chicken. Both curries were on point flavor-wise. That said, the Shrimp Korma had a shrimp size quality issue. It's a $21 dish and included 8 shrimps. 6 of those 8 were small shrimps. For $21, I expect better. For naan, we had the Makhani (buttered) Naan. While it tasted fine, I thought it was a bit on the soggy side. Service could have been better as well. It did take a long while for the main dishes to arrive, and the naan came out some time after that. I understood it was a full house, but wait time could be improved - as weekends will always be busy. Refills of water were also infrequent. At one point I watched a staff person walk towards the front where we sat, refilled water at one table, and then proceed to walk back towards the kitchen without looking at our table. And although minor, I felt like we were asked a few too many times how the food was. Despite all comments above, I do consider this one of the better Indian food locations outside Center City area. The reviews are great, so perhaps they just had an off night, but our takeout order was bad. - Raita was fine but kind of a small portion - Naan was cold. We showed up twenty minutes before the pickup time and it was still cold. Not room temperature. Cold. - Lamb korma seemed to have curdled. It was gritty instead of creamy. - Goan fish curry was bad. This is supposed to be the spiciest curry. They offer five levels of spice. I ordered the spiciest one. It was not particularly spicy. C'mon, guys. If people order the spiciest of five, they want something really spicy. This was not that. This wouldn't have been so bad if it wasn't also expensive. At $20 an entree it needs to be better. Edit: Got a message right away offering to make things right on our next order. That's worth another star and another try. read more

Lillys has recently reopened after a major renovation and the interior decor and seating are fantastic, clean and cozy comfortable. My food was tasty as always a bit spicy but I did order mild seasoning, my chicken 65 was tender served with crispy fresh vegetables and a rich tamarind chutney as well as a lime chutney . I also ordered Saag Lamb which was simply delicious the lamb is slow cooked and the spinach was deeply flavored and well developed. The steamed basmati rice was tender and well prepared. I was not completely delighted with the naan which was perhaps a tad undercooked and too moist but all in all a well prepared and well served meal. Went here with a large group (8 people) and it came highly recommended as delicious, authentic Indian food. I couldn't have been more impressed! We ordered a bunch of appetizers and the group's favorite was the samosa chaat. My husband has never liked it from other spots but loved it here. The tandoori wings and cauliflower appetizer were also outstanding. My favorite entree was lamb korma but everything I tried was delicious, including chicken tikka masala, lamb curry, and chicken biryani. Lilly's is a gem in Jenkintown. We were there for lunch today. The Gobi Manchurian sauce was excellent, though some of the cauliflower pieces lacked the crispiness you would expect. The saagwala paneer and chicken vindaloo more than made up for it. Saag (especially the mild version) can be bland, but Lilly's gets the seasoning just right. The vindaloo was a win for my spice-loving spouse, and the naan was perfect. Great meal with good portions. A great value overall. It does not have its own parking lot, but there is public parking just behind it. read more

We arrived at 11:30 am and were seated after a small wait. It was a little odd for no one to be in the dining room to greet us. The place filled up quickly. The atmosphere is beautiful. You walk in and are greeted with open shelves holding a colorful selection of pillows and various 'Indian' items. Along one wall is a beautiful mural. I had the Shrimp Korma ($20.97) which was a 10 - delicious. My sister ordered the vegetarian Baingan Bharta ($15.97). It was okay but nothing spectacular. I'll give it a generous 5. My sister asked for her eggplant to be mild. I asked for my korma to be closer to medium. Turns out my dish was mild and hers was was medium. The Khmer, (rice pudding), was an aromatic delight - another 10. The Masala Chai, $3.47) was not as good as some I've had but it was not horrible. I'll give it a 6. The Garlic Naan, $4.97) was a 10. I think this is the sort of place where you need to find out and then pick what they are good at. I WILL go again and find that out, but not too often because the prices are high. I'd have loved to have seen either a smaller portioned lunch menu or a buffet. They obviously have the means as all their chafing dishes are lined up and ready for action. Our waiter said a lunch buffet may happen after they redo their kitchen in 4 months. It's not a deal breaker. Our check (for two) was a whopping $55, or $66 with tip. That's not what most people expect to spend for lunch for two people on a normal lunch outing. read more
