This is a darling place to get gifts. They have cute homemade items like covers for iPads and Kindles plus lots of seasonal items. Right now there are a multitude of Yule tide red and green wonderfulness everywhere you look. Full time items they stock are Nora Fleming serving and party ware with all the cute mini's. Oh boy, this store is way too close to me with all those adorable choices. My daughter had received a Nora Fleming serving platter for a wedding gift and while I lusted after it, it was an abstract yearning. Now the source to satisfy that craving is oh so nearby with friendly people who work there and other reasons to visit. I have already succumbed once, buying a cake stand and a blue bird mini for my daughter for Christmas. How long before I mosey over "just to look" and end up with my own Nora Fleming habit? You better come here quick and buy some Nora Fleming while there is still some left! Make a day of it, there is a tea room, yarn shop, quilting shop, florist, dog supplies, guitar shop and all kinds of restaurant choices right in downtown Frankfort. Don't hate me because I live in such a cool place, come check it out yourself.

Plenty of gift ideas and home decor…read more I was looking for a gift to give a co-worker. I'm presuming the owner, came up to me and asked if I needed any help. I asked if she had anything that had hummingbirds on it and she quickly suggested a few options. She asked my budget and showed me one of the loveliest table cloths I have ever seen. She said it was over my budget but she'd give it to me to meet my budget. I bought something else for my sister and she even took a few dollars off of that for me. She was incredibly helpful and friendly and even put it in a nice gift box for me with tissue paper. I would recommend this store to anyone in or visiting the Frankfort area. I will DEFINITELY be going back and SOON!

Dream A Little Dream (specifically owner Darryl) truly impressed me…read more I never envisioned furnishing my first baby's nursery exclusively online, but I was left no choice given the circumstances at the time. The inability to view anything in person presented a few challenges, especially because I wanted to combine pieces from different manufacturers while maintaining a very cohesive/intentional display. Who knew there were 1,000 color variations of "White" furniture? Anyway - I located a crib that I wanted online and the crib manufacturer's site listed a handful of local shops I could purchase from. I had several questions relating to the crib/color matching/the manufacturer/etc. I decided I'd call the local shops to get some answers with the intent of hopefully ordering accordingly. I live in downtown Chicago, so I started calling the most nearby stores (that I was already familiar with). The first couple shops I called left me feeling a bit uneasy. I could have gotten past the fact that they quoted me delivery times upwards of 12 weeks out and obscene delivery costs (because I really loved the crib). BUT, the fact that they couldn't confidently answer my questions relating to the item's coloration, product line/manufacturer made it difficult to commit. So I decided to venture just outside the downtown area and call Dream A Little Dream. Owner Darryl answered the call and almost immediately lifted a giant weight off my shoulders. He was so refreshing to speak with. It was the difference of speaking to your run-of-the-mill salesperson vs. a true industry expert who actually cared about client concerns and satisfaction. He even went the extra mile (without my asking) and called a representative at the manufacturer to ensure a question I had about the coloration, just to further confirm what he was already 99% sure of. I am a bit of an A-type personality and him taking that extra step to give me peace of mind really gave me such comfort. His delivery costs were less than those of the closer-by shops (ironically) AND I saved in taxes by ordering through his Mokena shop vs. a store downtown. Win, win, win! Beyond that, Darryl was able to offer me a substantially shorter lead time than those quoted by the other shops. He has a great relationship with various manufacturers, including the one that makes the crib of interest, and thus he felt confident he could get the product delivered within a 6 week window. The crib ended up delivered closer to 5 weeks out from time of order -- which made me so happy. I had a few additional questions after ordering/delivery and Darryl has been completely reliable and accessible, super quick and professional with his responses. I'd feel great about sending any/all friends/family/clients to Dream A Little Dream.

You would not expect to find a baby store in the middle of what is essentially an office park…read more Entering Dream a Little Dream you'll see their offices at first and a few pieces of display furniture, but a bit further in you'll enter their warehouse where the bulk of the furniture is. And to be clear, it is JUST furniture--you will not find any sort of accessories or other baby items here, nor will you find juvenile furniture beyond a convertible crib. But they have several different cribs, bookshelves, etc. and they also carry Romina furniture, which is a brand from Romania that is Greengold certified. (Not sure if they carry Romina's sister brand Silva, however.) I visited to look for a chair for my child's nursery. They have three or so different brands of chairs. There was one I did like; it reclines, has control buttons on the inside of the chair (instead of outside where little fingers may enjoy pressing buttons) and there's USB connections as well for phone (it may even have had the Apple lightening connection). Unfortunately it was about $100 more expensive than another I'm interested in, and it would cost me $175 to have it delivered to my home on the far north side. They'd put it together, rather than me having to put together another one I might buy, but I'm still not sure I can justify spending a minimum $300 more on a chair from them. Anyway, it's a place that could be worth a visit if you're seeking baby furniture. I'm not sure how the scale of delivery costs changes if you're closer to Modena than I am, so perhaps it wouldn't be so bad if you're in the south suburbs.

During my small business Saturday trip I stopped in here to find a lot of products that my sister…read morewould like. Seeing as it's her birthday in a few days, it was a good surprise. Prices seemed reasonable. The only issue I had is, as I walked around, one of the, I'm guessing, owners seemed to be following me around. It made me slightly uncomfortable. I wasn't sure if she was afraid I would break something, going to steal, or going to make a mess! When I went to check out, the two ladies at the counter weren't exactly friendly. They both seemed distracted and when I tried to make reasonable small talk, not being overly friendly or anything, just saying I was new to the area and my sister would love the store. They didn't respond and just handed me my receipt and bag. No "thank you" or "have a nice day" or anything. I can understand being busy, I've worked retail before. I just think politeness goes a long way. To top it off, they forgot to put something in my bag that I had bought. Luckily the one woman was nice enough to track me down and give it to me. That was at least a kind gesture. I'm going to chalk it up to stressful day and I will visit again in the future.

I guess that's where the "and more" part comes in (and does a lot of heavy lifting). Of the books on display, they had only a single copy (at least out on the floor). And the books were displayed face out, which makes sense when you're trying to catch the attention of young children many of whom can't read, but then when only half of your shelves hold books it's fairly sparse. They also had some stuff from some local purveyors and gifts and stuff. I got some bath stuff to try with my little one to shake up bath time a bit. They have some stuffed animals and stuff. They have some benches and pillows, spaces for kids to hang out and play; one was a wardrobe that was really nicely arranged as a reading nook which my kiddo really enjoyed. (I wish I had the vision to see something like a wardrobe and find that if I take the doors off and anchor it to a wall, it could be a fun place to cuddle up!) Something that's really cool is that they have a fishtank with a couple of axolotls, which my babe was astonished by. The bookstore seems to have a cool thing where you can arrange to have your kid feed them. Perhaps the most disappointing aspect of our visit here was the reason we came. I saw on Instagram that they were having train day, mentioning train books and crafts. My daughter loves trains, so we headed down. I think there were three train books on display. And the "craft" was some half-sheets of paper, crayons, and sheets of stickers that had trains on them. There was another family that had come in at the same time as us and I couldn't help but wonder if they were as let down as I was. I'd been really looking forward to visiting this bookstore--I wanted to about a year ago but hadn't been able to get here. I don't know that I'd come back even if I was nearby, because there are so few books that I don't know I'd want to just stop in to take a look since I'm not sure we'd find anything. Depending upon what's happening I'm not sure what parking is like; there's a good deal of parking down the block near the train station, but otherwise limited street parking.
