There is also a table with small chairs and puzzles in the center for keeping little ones occupied. Alas, when I visited today, the store employees were neither friendly nor helpful to my children and me. It's almost like they could barely tolerate our presence. Did we smell? I think not, but you would have surely thought so given their cold manner.

I had decided to visit my local Carters after hearing so much about it. I usually shop at The…read moreChildren's Place, however I decided to give it a shot. Beaming with excitement of the thought of new clothes my two daughters could not sit in the car any longer. Immediately walking into the store I felt an overwhelming blanket of claustrophobia as the clothes seemed to be stacked miles high and all over the place. While putting clothes neatly back, as I respect the hard work of a sales Associate, I was given rude smirks as they must of thought my incredible folding skills were so good I could steal their job. Nonetheless I kept on as my goal to make my daughters happy was not yet fulfilled. Even though I don't take the time to remember the workers, there was one who stood out in particular. She had silver blonde hair, was kinda short and pretty loud. She yelled at my kids multiple times, and even went so far as to what seemed as though talking behind my back. At the end of the day I did not like any of the clothes, none of them fit, and the service was down right disgusting -- literally (there were bugs in the changing rooms). So I will continue to shop at The Children's Place as the service and clothing is of much higher quality.

Given the…read morename I was expecting a store with a kind of folksy feel, which may be the case at the original shop down a couple doors down (at least I suspect they are under common ownership since it would be unusual to have two shops with "little barn" in the name). This kids store carries some standard children's brands that are higher end than what you would find in a Target or something. They also sell other child-related sundries like bath wash, some small toys, and so on. When we visited they had a couple sale racks on display, one with a straight 40% off and one that had colored dots on the clothes with prices according to the color. My friend and I both left with well over $100 of merchandise that would have been significantly more at higher prices. And I love everything I bought. I am hoping that a couple of the things that I got for my little one aren't just a tad too small because she would look so freakin adorable in them. I sent photos to my mom of everything to share the cuteness. Some of the things I bought are a couple sizes big so that my daughter can grown into them. This store is beautifully decorated and arranged, not at all cluttered and with lots of natural light flooding the place. Unlike a lot of children's stores, they left the floor pretty wide open with the merchandise largely along the outer walls to provide a lot of floor space because as you might guess, people with small children usually have strollers--but almost most children's store I've been to, particularly within Chicago, seem to forget that because they're so small or packed that it's a struggle to maneuver around them. The women who were in the shop were helpful but not overbearing. This store doesn't have any dedicated parking but there's a good amount along Third Street and also on State Street.

I LOVE The Children's Place. It is one of the best places to buy quality children's clothing…read morewithout breaking the bank. Sizes start at newborn and go through 14, and the clothes gravitate more toward the Circo (Target) and Gymboree lines in terms of style: lots of bright colors, graphic tees, and denim. I love seeing collared shirts and khaki pants for boys, as one of my pet peeves is the way Americans dress their male children, which seems to include sweatpants and sports t-shirts, more often than not. And The Children's Place has great holiday collections for Hanukkah/Christmas outfits. You can also buy school uniforms here. Unfortunately, the Geneva Commons store is a bit smaller than most, and I often feel like their stock is not quite as impressive as the store at Stratford. You can usually find new items on the shelves, but the sale selection is slim. The staff is not rude, as one reviewer says, but they aren't warm/fuzzy either. But I'm not looking to make friends with the staff - in fact, nothing makes me happier than entering a store where I'm not bothered/harassed by salespeople every time I turn around. The only reason this Children's Place does not earn four stars in my book is because it's a smaller store with less selection. Otherwise, it's a great store, and I would encourage you to shop there if you have young children. The clothes are adorable, and the prices are spectacular! P.S. - I usually look online at the items I want to buy first, then wait for a sale (which usually arrives every week, so not to worry if there isn't one when you visit). The best sales of the year are the Monster Sales, which happen in January and June/July. I usually stock up then, as shirts start at $2.99, and pants at about $4.99.

I was so confused with purchasing items for my sister, that I REALLY NEEDED SOME HELP. Emily went above and beyond with helping me. She gave me suggestions as well as honored my opinion. She helped me pick out shoes and stockings for my sister as well. AMAZING WOMAN EMILY is. I could not thank her enough. I couldn't stopped thanking her. It probably even seemed like I was flirting. Well.... haha As a straight man, shopping for women can be hard but my mind was put at ease when emily went out of her way to help me dispite how frustrating it was for me. This was really important for me because I don't shop for women but I really wanted to get my sister something nice. I knew Old Navy would be a good choice. EMILY even helped me with my measurements. Talk about above and beyond. When it came to check out Jasmine was also amazing. She helped he with multiple gift receipts and helped me separate my clothes into separate bags. Her customer service was REALLY good as well. Thank you both EMILY AND Jasmine. Old Navy please, PLEASE give them a raise. Two amazing women and fantastic representatives of your company. -Stanley E Pinkney
