I'm still loving this place. Located in downtown Clayton, all they do is drinks and tacos. But they do everything so well! You just circle your protein (chicken, beef, or shredded pork), then circle how you want it, how many you want and wait patiently for the magic to happen. Never jam packed with people, but they draw a fairly steady stream. If that's not enough, you can pick from lots of sauces in a little cabinet. Melinda's, Cholula, etc. You won't be disappointed. read more

Subject: Consistent early kitchen closures and poor service at Clayton location Dear Lil Hombre Management and Mr. Howard, I am reaching out to bring a recurring and highly frustrating issue to your attention regarding the service at your Clayton location on Tuesday nights. Please note the door says you close at 11.. For the last three consecutive weeks, I have arrived at your establishment on Tuesday at 10:00 PM and was told it was already too late to order food. Attempting to accommodate this early cutoff, I arrived today (Tuesday) at 9:50 PM. Instead of being served, the bartender completely ignored my food request, only to eventually state that the bar itself would be closing at 10:00 PM. As a customer trying to support your business, being repeatedly turned away and intentionally ignored before your posted closing time is incredibly disappointing. If your kitchen or doors strictly close earlier than advertised, that should be clearly communicated--but ignoring a guest who arrives before closing is unacceptable. Is this a race thing? Or an anti LGTBQ thing? I can't figure out after tipping said employee for various weeks, now I can't be served food. I'll gladly stop trying to support a racist establishment. I wanted to bring this to your attention directly so that management can address this specific shift's staff behavior and clarify the restaurant's actual operating hours. I look forward to your response regarding how this will be handled. Sincerely, Phillip Jones read more

I don't normally leave negative reviews, but my experience today was so disappointing that I felt it needed to be shared. I drove from Fayetteville, North Carolina, because I had visited before and was looking forward to coming back. As a small business owner myself--I own several businesses, including The Sip Room wine bar--I understand that mistakes happen and that every business has policies that employees are expected to follow. When I arrived, the employee working the counter took another customer's order before mine, even though I was next. I didn't make an issue of it because things happen. After placing my order, I was told the business no longer accepts tap-to-pay through a digital wallet. No problem. I went to my car to get my physical card. Before paying, I simply asked if they accepted tap with the physical card. He said yes. I replied that it was interesting they accepted tap with the card but not through a digital wallet. His response was, "I don't make the f***ing rules. You can just leave." I was completely caught off guard. I never raised my voice, never used profanity, and never became disrespectful. I simply asked a question. Instead of de-escalating the situation, he repeatedly told me to "leave" and "get out." As I tried to leave, I couldn't get the front door open. He told me to go out the back, then said he would open the front door if I asked him. When I did, he looked at me and said, "Say please." That was one of the most humiliating customer service experiences I've ever had. Other customers were laughing while this was happening, and the employee seemed completely comfortable treating me that way. As someone who owns businesses and works with the public every day, I know customer service isn't about being perfect--it's about treating people with respect, especially when there's a misunderstanding. Unfortunately, that didn't happen here. I love supporting small businesses, and I even create content to help local businesses grow. I truly wanted to continue supporting this one, but after being spoken to and treated this way, I won't be returning. I'm sharing this review in hopes that management addresses how customers are treated, because no one should leave a business feeling embarrassed for simply asking a question. read more

Food and service was great. They just opened that day and they were more than ready. Have already recommended to many of our friends.

terrible service and workers are rude and show attitude when you order. Gave me attitude when I ordered as well as when I asked for my recipe. read more

Amazing street tacos. And amazing drinks from the bar. Not a straight forward vibe. I don't know if this is a bar with awesome tacos or an incredible taco shop with awesome drinks. The smoked meat makes the tacos superlative. There's a hot sauce selection if you want. They don't need it though. But then there's great tequila and mezcal. Great drinks. Weirdly, the michelada is a favorite. read more

My tacos were so good and made to my liking! Shout out to the homey cooking. I got 2 chicken tacos with half hombre style half traditional. The portion sizes were great and I let with a smile. read more

Food is fantastic . They make a good margarita and have a good selection of beer.staff are friendly and fast . Nice atmosphere.

Great place to stop for a taco. Drink prices are great. Tacos yummy. Bartenders are super friendly

Spent over $100 here and left disappointed. The tall blonde staff member with visible tattoos seemed irritated from the start. We had cash ready to tip, but after we didn't use the digital tip screen, the attitude noticeably changed. Our order was skipped multiple times, we waited over an hour, and the tacos were cold when we finally got them. For the price, the service and food quality should have been much better. I hope management looks into who they have working the front. read more

Damn these tacos were insanely delicious place is super clean and fun decor. The bartender/Person preparing the food was cool and made the tacos perfectly. Come eat all the tacos and get some drinks! The patio is nice outside too. read more

Simple, Homey, Tasty. This place is the total relax place with outrageously good tacos. In our case, we sit at the bar and chat with the bartender/cook who makes our tacos and drinks. Very cool and chill staff, always feel relaxed, welcomed, and not hovered over. Prices are fair and the environment is very comfortable. Easy parking and located in downtown Clayton. We really love this place. read more

Tacos were AMAZING and Grayson was the absolute sweetest! We had the best time just sitting and chatting with her and our group of friends! An amazing place. And people 10 out of 10. read more

The staff was fantastic and food was very good. We were confused with the menu and had a hard time figuring out what to do when we first came in. I wish there was some sort of instructions so it'll be easier to order, I think it'll be easier. The overall atmosphere and the restaurant is charming with original flooring read more

Tacos are decent (pricey) but very limited options, only tacos, and NO side items..... Chips and salsa would have made this a better meal. Service was super slow for lunch service with no one in there. Probably more of a bar with tacos vs a place to go to dinner. read more

The atmosphere is good, taco meats were very tasty, the service was phenomenal. Sally and Darian waited on my husband and I, personable, nice chit chat, we really didn't have to ask for a thing, they were on top of everything, and just the sweetest. Cross your fingers you get these ladies to wait on you!!! read more

Food was good. Only one person working when we came in so it took a bit to get our order. Women behind the bar took my husband card, swiped it, never had him sign or ask for a tip. Pending charge on card was $55.52 but then when it posed it was $66.62. An $11 tip was added to our card WITHOUT our authorization. We had left a cash tip on the jar. Not cool. read more

Excelllent tacos! Tried chicken , beef and pork and all 3 were perfection! Choose from traditional, fajita or hombre style - I had pork traditional and others hombre - tortillas were traditional corn and really nice texture- also had on the rocks house margarita which was very good- everything was very fresh, great service and fun atmosphere! We will be back for sure!! Super casual fun space !! read more

House vodka and soda cost $10 here. tacos are good. Could use some variety like queso and salsa.

Cute spot. Tacos are pretty good. Drinks are pretty good, they have a few different slushee flavor options. Service is good. A nice lunch spot if you're just hanging out in Downtown Clayton. read more

Love this little small town taco spot. Great tacos and an attentive bar staff. I will be going back.

There are very minimal options in this place, and only one staff member is working, so a bit of a wait. It's similar to bar taco, where you fill out your order on paper to give you the cook. There are no vegetarian options, only beef, chicken, and pork. Then you choose your topping category and type of shell. I got two beef and one chicken. The meat was delicious as it was smoked and full of flavor. I probably won't revisit because of the lack of vegetarian options, and my wife is meatless. I hope they add vegetarian options soon! read more

It was good, cool atmosphere, quaint! But, I can get a lot more than 6 small street tacos and 2 beers at an authentic Mexican restaurant, or anywhere else for that matter, for $65. read more

What a find! Great tacos & tequila. Samantha cooked up tacos for a b'day lunch and it was perfecto!

best LGBT+ bar in Clayton! My favorite place for late night grub! Dorian(but everyone calls her Dori, because she looks like the fish from finding Nemo) tries really hard!! I only order beer now because the margaritas are terrible but she tries hard! Her friend though, wears glasses, don't know her name, she must be new because she was quite clueless but I'm sure she'll get the hang of it eventually! read more

Girl waited until after 1am to come to us to say they were no longer serving tacos. We had been sitting there 10+ mins and she just screwed around until exactly 1:01am to say something and when I stated we had been waiting 10 min ahead said "I'm sorry it's after 1 we're no longer serving tacos". You're better off going to cookout at least they're open until 2-330. Better tacos/quesadillas. Will not be returning server ruined all previous experiences. Hope owner sees this and fires her because there was plenty of time to order, prepare, and pay before 1am. read more
