Knightdale still has a long way to go in with offering local restaurants. El Señor is your average Mexican restaurant. It's convenient to where I live/frequent. It does get busy on weekends. Staff are always friendly. Typically I get the half order of chicken or mixed fajitas. You get two flour tortillas with your meal. There's a special for an $8 medium house margarita on Saturdays. The food was decent. However when the waiter tried to charge us 12 dollars more on top of our bill we inquired to why it was not 47 dollars but somehow 59. Instead of addressing the issue promptly he tried to guilt us by saying it's just 12 dollars. We told him we haven't received the receipt for tips yet but somehow got charged 12 more when he brought us the final receipt. Never in my life had someone charge us more than the receipt showed in any restaurants. Not sure how many other people this has occurred with. Be vigilant and pay attention to your bill prior to the tip/receipt. read more

I would recommend that you DO NOT go here... Honestly, the food is good so it's unfortunate that I will no longer eat here but here's my reasoning as to why.... I came in on December 31st 2024 and ordered $39 worth of food... when I got there and swiped my card I was told that my card was declined and the transaction didn't go through... so I ended up paying cash... Then I found out that I was actually charged on my card... so I paid DOUBLE... I have gone to this restaurant on 3 different occasions trying to resolve the issue and I was told the manager was going to call the credit card company and get my money refunded back to me, and I was told essentially a bunch of other non sense lies... also the manager himself would not come and talk to me they had the workers running back and forth from the back room as messengers to let me know what he was saying... VERY UNPROFESSIONAL... I got ROBBED from this business out of my money that I work hard for.... I paid $39 TWO TIMES and I've gone to the restaurant 3 different times trying to resolve the issues.... If my card was charged and I paid you cash as well then why would you call the credit card company? Why not just give me my cash back and the problem would be solved .... I left them my phone number and was told the manager would call me and guess what... HE NEVER DID!!! So I'm going to forever and always spread the word around town and to everybody that I know that this restaurant likes to rob people for there money and that they are very unprofessional.... Poor customer service. So I ordered my food. I got a plate for me from my wife and got some chicken nachos for my son and there was an option with the chicken nachos. It was either shredded chicken or grilled chicken so I asked the cashier taking my order what's the difference and she just had one shredded and one grill I said OK I said well just give me the shredded then come to find out when I receive my order that's not, only difference there is onions and peppers in the shredded chicken and my son will not like that so I said I need you to swap this out so she did and she told me that would be an up charge for the grill so I said you were gonna charge me while the rest of my food is getting cold because you made a mistake because you didn't tell me The correct answer when I asked you the question what was the difference between the two and she still charged me and I told her I wouldn't be back and she didn't seem to care Pardon the grammatical errors in this post as I was using speech to text feature read more

El Señor has been in Knightdale for YEARS and has become an icon of the town. We eat here on a weekly basis and absolutely love everything about the business. The staff are friendly and personally connect with patrons; they'll even remember your name. The food is consistently great and always fast to the table. There are many better Mexican places around town. My medium size margarita was mostly mix, very little tequila in it. Food was average, fairly bland. Good chips but the salsa was thin and watery. The service was overall ok. It was a bit slower than what we are used to. They brought chips and salsa and then took drink order 5 minutes later. The food was just ok. This is our second time eating from this restaurant. The first time was takeout and I was disappointed because the food was so bland. Today was no different. For months now this has been our go to when craving really good Mexican, tonight we placed our online order as usual, upon arriving home, my meal, the Quesadilla Mexicana, was wrong. I called to let them know, the staff were giggling and playing around before putting me on hold. The young lady returned and told me it'd be ready in 10. We hang up and the restaurant calls back. Gentleman says he prepared my food and he placed all the toppings on the side and the tortilla and steak in foil. He said I didn't ask for no guacamole though the receipt and online order confirmation says differently. The online description is farthest from what they presented me tonight. Great food! I always get the Pollo Fundido lunch size is enough for me and comes with salad and rice- love the rice. Dinner size is double! I love their fresh warm chips and salsa. Horrible experience.. texas strawberry margarita reminded me of a snowcone with food coloring and no liquor.. my husband got the fajitas and it taste like curry seasoning or brown sugar was in it either way a little weird to me. i asked them if i could switch the margarita for a tall beer and they said no i still had to pay for it.. I ordered the simple chicken enchiladas and they were so bland, no veggies included at all! The rice and beans were blah. I am used to a high caliber Mexican food and this was disappointing. Nothing fancy here, just no-frills standard Mexican cuisine. I say that like it's a bad thing, but if you're looking for the real deal, look no further than El Senor. This is the closest I've found to authentic Mexican home cooking since I was living out in east LA. A little extra heat really brings out the flavors for most of the dishes, and if I had to level a single complaint, it's that there's not a lot of spice in the food straight from the kitchen. Don't hesitate to ask for a bottle of red or green habanero sauce on the side if you want the best culinary experience and can take the heat. If not, don't sweat it: My girlfriend has a low tolerance to spicy food, and she loves the food here just as much as I do. El Burro De La Roqueta is my favorite dish, and the fajitas are always excellent too. I love that you can also get 1/2 orders for many of the menu items if you're looking to eat light (or cheap!). The staff are always smiling and very helpful. Sometimes they're slow to collect your payment, but you can always pay at the counter up front if you're in a hurry. What an experience!! Me and my friend went to El Senor for lunch the other day and really enjoyed our food. I got the fajitas with chicken and beef and it was totally worth it. Also because it was on a Tuesday their lunch special was $6 fajitas. $6!!!!!! You can't beat that. The only negative I will say is I only like mild salsa with my chips and theirs tasted like watered-down marinara sayce. Other than that I highly enjoyed my food. read more

I love this restaurant whether we are dining in or ordering for delivery The food is always fresh and so good. Our favorites are the Texas Nachos full size with lots of meat and a few chips. So not all filler. Pollo Fundido is perfect, just love the lightly fried tortilla and the moist flavorful chicken. Another family favorite is the banana dessert and fried ice cream. All travels well when we have it delivered and arrives at the correct temperatures. A must have at least 2 times a month! read more

El Senor is good in some ways, not so good in others. I like them for the most part but I have had trouble getting ground beef that isn't still pink. The last time I ordered something with ground beef and I sent it back because it was still pink, they brought me another plate (supposedly) that was cooked more but the beef was still pink. I steer clear of the ground beef and I'm good now. My husband loves the pork fajitas. They're a little dry for my taste but I love the chicken and beef fajitas. So I'd skip the rare ground beef and then you should be great. read more
