After an awful experience with another company, I contacted AdvantaClean for a second opinion and am so glad I did! I was initially told I had a crisis level mold problem that would take thousands of dollars to fix. This is a touchy business where I can see reviews going 5 or 1 star. You're either very pleased or not at all. While I know I fall on the side of 1 star I'm going to do my best to review AdvantaClean. I found AdvantaClean on thumbtack with other folks and required remediation of mold. What drew me to AdvantaClean is they had a certified mold inspector which meant I did not have to hire someone externally when it came time to inspecting, remediation and certifying the property mold free. You can draw your conclusions now where this review is going and I'm most certain that I'm jeopardizing my warranty for this review but it's important to take these into consideration when selecting your vendor to complete any work. Scope: The scope of work for AdvantaClean is limited to Mold Inspection & Mold Remediation. Water was sitting on the exterior of the condo unit which allowed water to enter the unit and sit which then turned into mold. The mold spreaded inside the unit and became airborne. The team was hired to remove the mold inside the unit and certify the unit mold free. Pros: Company has certified mold inspector Quotes lower than other competitors Response time is very fast Professionalism is excellent Cons: Meeting times are limited to availability Mold discovered one month after remediation Now the last con is very disturbing. The mold was discovered on an interior wall and photos revealed that mold was discovered around the AC unit. I was very concerned about the AC unit initially because when AdvantaClean told me the mold spores had gone airborne, I think right away of the air intake. I even emailed asking them if the AC unit was cleaned and got verification. So one month later we have a closet full of mold and a new quote to remediate once I hire someone to remove the furnace from the close. Ahh! A new quote! And now we need another vendor to remove the furnace so that it can be remediated. Now AdvantaClean (Dan) stated that the mold was not there before. So I asked for proof. If they have photos showing the AC area with no mold since I expressed concern with the AC unit due to the mold spores going airborne. I'll post those photos, stand corrected AND update this to a 5 star review and claim that all the mold is fresh and due to my negligence. We'll see though. If you need work, my biggest suggestion ESPECIALLY if you've already hired AdvantaClean is to inspect the property when they are finished with them. Do not go on good faith because they are certifying it mold free. That will get you where I am today. read more

So, our 6 and 3 year old boys decided to overflow their bathtub last week attempting to build an indoor pool. We thought we had sopped up the majority of the water but sure enough, 2 days later there were water stains in the kitchen ceiling directly below the kids bathroom. Naturally my husband and I freaked out having dealt with water damage in the house before. We're weren't looking forward to either shelling out hundreds, if not thousands of bucks for repair, nor did we want to spend valuable free time tearing down and replacing ceiling Sheetrock ourselves. Luckily we yelped services in the area and AdvantaClean popped up with great reviews and offered a free estimate. We scheduled a consult and within 2 hours a technician (who happened to be the company owner) was at the door. Dan was very friendly and professional and had the situation pegged within 5 minutes. Using infrared sensors and some other equipment he was able to determine the dry wall was completely dried out and that there was no permanent damage. No need for repairs or treatment of any kind. With that he told us there was no charge and to have a nice day. We were grateful for the quick response to our problem, as well as the peace of mind Dan provided. Very pleased with the mold remediation work done at my house. Response was fast and courteous. The work was completed on time and actually below the estimate originally given (that might be a first for me). Unlike the previous two contractors who showed up, they actually found the source of my problem (cracked condensate drain line from my water heater in the attic - everyone else was trying to tell me I needed to re-insulate my air ducts). My wife felt comfortable with the crew that showed up and the owner spoke with me afterwords about what I should look for in the future - he was very friendly and knowledgeable. read more

Dan of AdvantaClean was very professional, honest, and fair. Long story short...I had to quickly sell a home when a pipe burst under the sink. I contacted a nationally known brand that rhymes with FervGro and they initially said I had an appointment in two days. Two days later and no one shows up. Seven phone calls later and I'm told, "We'll try to fit you in." This was not only unacceptable, but it turned me off to their services. In comes Dan from AdvantaClean. He came out the same day I contacted him. He was honest in his assessment of mold exposure, growth, and precautions. He informed me he could have fans and dehumidifiers in the home by nightfall. I was impressed! His pricing was more than fair and he kept me up to date on the progress of eliminating mold growth. During a repair of a water heater valve, my property manager and tenant found an area with mold. I was horrified by the potential cost and damage to my home. This is my first rental and I was concerned about the effect on the tenant. Dan responded on a holiday weekend, assess the damage and repaired it today (Memorial Day). I was more than willing to pay extra to fix the damage on a holiday but Dan wouldn't hear of it. His integrity and customer service have made me a customer and referral. Dan Derbes and his crew were fantastic. We had a problem drying our clothes, and no one could figure out what was wrong. They went into the attic and disassembled the roof vent, and found so much clogged lint that they couldn't even see daylight. They then sucked out the rest of the lint with a high suction hosed. Due to the nature of the kind of job we needed (in our case long standing mold in our crawlspace from years of moisture issues that we remedied before we called) it was important for me to research the needed process and preparations I might have needed to take for my family (like a hotel for a few days, I wasnt sure what to expect). After a short search for the appropriate company I came across AdvantaClean of Lorton and two others because my wife will not allow me to proceed with anything without her precious three quotes to compare (I might have hired the first quote once or twice in my life and it may have not turned out so well). So after scheduling it wasn't hard to go with AdvantaClean because one company rep talked about all there fabulous work and reputation....then never showed up for the estimate and never called back. The other came out and within 15 minutes were gone and the quote was outrageous...4 days later. AdvantaClean, particularly the owner Dan Derbes, came out and did a solid thorough look around and provided a timely estimate that was LOWER. Professionalism, clean and knowledgeable were the impressions he left on my wife, which was all I needed. They came on time, he introduced his staff, they themselves were kind and knowledgeable and most of all the end result was more than I hoped for.
