My initial appointment was for a cleaning, which I never received. Over the course of a year, I repeatedly asked for routine cleanings & was never scheduled for one. My final appointment in May 2025 was supposed to address what I understood to be a filling. When I arrived, I was informed I would be receiving a root canal. This was the first time a root canal had ever been discussed with me. There was no prior explanation or consultation about why such an extensive procedure was necessary. I felt unprepared but agreed. During the procedure, there were complications & I ultimately lost the tooth, which had not been causing me pain or any noticeable issues prior to. Afterward, I researched beyond Google & found other patient reviews on different platforms describing experiences similar to mine. This was my personal experience, & I strongly encourage prospective patients to research via a variety of review platforms.

Additionally, she clearly wanted to argue and appeared ready to fight someone, and anyone. I was told by her to never come back because she felt I was disrespecting her. She literally got in my face. I totally agreed to not return and I walked out. Then, she proceeds to come outside very aggressively after me threatening me & yelling at me, " I'm calling the police if you don't come in here and pay." Pay for what I ask myself? No one had even brought up the fee to be seen today, it was not mentioned, or I would have paid it then. She yelled to not come back and then comes outside to yell, "Get back in here or I'm calling the police." Wait, what just happened? She then continues to threaten me multiple times out in public, and even still, as she witnessed myself walking back, she continues threatening me in public. "I'm calling the police!" This was completely uncalled for by any business owner or human being. I will never recommend this establishment (Dental) to anyone. My understanding is that different opinions between dentists may be related to dentists have different thresholds for what is considered a cavity. Different backgrounds and beliefs makes this understandable. However, I would personally not visit or recommend anyone to visit a dentist that would do this, whether this aggressive treatment was meant for the patient's benefit or for the bottom dollar. Perhaps I will visit another dentist for X-Rays and compare treatment plans and suggestions.

I took my 2 year old son to Small Smiles for his first cleaning and check up. The office had a…read morevery "Free Clinic" feel. The waiting room was large with the chairs zip-tied together (so they didn't get out of place?) and very few toys. There was a play stove, a lego table (with no legos), and a barnyard animal toy for all 10 kids in the waiting room to share. They had crayons and color sheets for the kids at the front desk. I showed up 15 minutes before my son's 9:30 appointment to fill out paperwork which was probably a mistake because they didn't see us until 10:20. While I waited, two separate employees told me that we were next to be seen, but both times people were called back before us. When it was finally our turn, we wound through the labyrinth of exam rooms and arrived at one towards the back. The hygienist had me lay in the chair with my son in my lap. I pinned down his legs by crossing my legs over them and held down his arms and head with my arms. I actually can't think of a better way to restrain a 2 year old for a teeth cleaning, so this was fine. The cleaning went quickly. It was just a quick brush with the same type of polisher that is used on adults at the dentist. They don't use sharp scraping instruments on kids until they're much older. The hygienist located the dentist and she came to see us. She was very gentle, and while my son cried during most of the cleaning, he didn't cry for the dentist exam at all. She just took a quick glance at his teeth to check for cavities. He didn't have any, so we were all done! Overall, I would say it was a bad experience. When you're dealing with children (especially around lunch/nap time), it's not acceptable to be left waiting for a hour. I was happy the hygienist and dentist were friendly and gentle though. I wouldn't recommend Small Smiles, but I've been hearing great things about Gainesville Pediatric Dentistry. We'll try that one next time.
