Great quality of sushi. I'd give it a 4.25 to 4.5. It's consistently good, one of the best spots for Japanese food in Lethbridge.

Who knew Lethbridge had decent sushi? Great group dinner with four of us. Ambience was pleasant. One side of the restaurant has a rustic feel with brick as the wall. The other side of the restaurant had a lovely lighter pastel feel. The food itself seemed fresh enough for be sashimi portions. We ordered a "sushi boat for 3" plus a roll (dragon roll variation on the boat in he photo). Plus a rice bowl with tempura. Overall, lovely surprise of sushi in the prairies. read more

I was in Lethbridge for work last week and had the chance to stop in to Lighthouse for dinner on Friday night. The room is good, decorations and layout was nice, the building was an older location and done up in a modest Japanese style. The food = amazing! The value was great, we ordered a plate for two and an extra roll, which was unnecessary but still delicious! Unfortunately this was a dissapointment. Except for the sashimi, which was fresh and tasty, the rest of the platter was not good. The salad had a peculiar, watered down flavor, barely edible. The green bean edimame was terrible. The rest of the meal was mediocre to bad. It's a let down to read all the good reviews and go out of our way to eat there only to be dissapointed. Absurdly small portion sizes. Ordered two stir fries (salmon and beef) and the portions were astoundingly small. Paid about $3/bite so definitely worth it. $60 very well spent! read more

Sushi in a little landlocked Alberta prairie town? Oh yeah, it's thing! Serving up what is essentially fresh fish in a field, Lighthouse does a pretty great job of keeping it sush-tastic despite their Canadian desert conditions. Ok, settle down all you Vancouverites... I'm sure this isn't up to your standards (hey, what is, really? (oooh... burn!)), but let's do a little reality check here. You live by the ocean - the place where fish (a popular ingredient in sushi, and all-time beloved scaly water animal) comes from. This is Lethbridge - Home to students, old people and 300 km/hr wind. There's only enough water to sustain cactuses (cactai?) and prairie grasses (...grassai?) and hopefully have enough left over to cure U of L students' hangovers. Guess what? That they have sushi worth eating - It's a #&$%ing miracle. Lethbridge, believe it or not, was my gateway drug to rolled up seaweed, rice, fish combinations. It was also my gateway drug to, well, regular drugs... because University. GO PRONGHORNS! Jeeze, don't get all uppity! I'm just joking! ...I've never been to a Horns' game. Went for lunch with my coworkers to have a post meeting discussion. The atmosphere was nice for discussion. Private feeling with the partitions between tables and no ambient music. I ordered the lunch special and my two choices were: vegetable tempera, crab salad roll. It also came with a steamed rice and salad with a house dressing. The meal size was great for lunch and was reasonably priced. I've been to lighthouse many times and have never been disappointed. They have very consistent preparation with nice flavours. The food is all well established dishes that don't push any gastronomic styles but that makes it a great choice for a wide variety of food tastes. read more

The food is exceptional delicious, Never once did I ever need to say anything negative about the service/food. The sushi pizza, has whitefish caviar yellow caviar, and red caviar with a nice cheese sauce and drizzle of Japanese mayonnaise. The servers are friendly, whenever I go there it seems to be busy: that's a good sign. It means the quality of service is good, and people are satisfied with the food there, so they keep coming back for more. I was in Lethbridge for a funeral, and was in the mood for some Japanese food. I naturally used my Yelp app to find a Japanese restaurant. I had been to two others that came up, and decided to try something new. If you've ever been to Lethbridge, you'd know that if their were 3 Japanese restaurants downtown they would all be within a few minutes drive. I believe they open at 4:30 P.M. for dinner. It was a Monday when we came, so it wasn't busy at all. I looked around and found only one other table with a couple sitting there. What we ordered: California roll- on par with any other Tamago sushi- The tamago was sliced thicker, and was made in house. (sometimes you can get the stuff that is very generic and brought in) Agedashi Tofu- appetizer (tasty, sprinkled with bonito flakes) Miso soup- also on par Beef teriyaki bowl- rice bowl with stir fried beef and veggies. (not very much beef) Katsudon- rice bowl, with pork cutlets, then steamed with an egg on top. (the breaded pork was tender and tasty) Tea for all. All in all a good experience at this Japanese restaurant. I will definitely come back here, if ever in Lethbridge. Side note. While dining the restaurant did get busier by the time we finished. Also looks like they do a decent take out business. Also saw a couple who were just married take a couple wedding pics with a photographer at one of the tables. You would think when you make a reservation 2 weeks in advance for the window table, are told no problem it will be available for sure, that when you arrive you would not be seated late and in the back by the register.
