Chicken stew with Mac and cheese

Food was fabulous. Home cooked. Lots of love included with awesome ingredients. Friend staff, super clean. Take out and eat in. I had the Curry Goat-- A Jamaican delicacy, prepared with generous chunks of goat meat marinated with our special blend of curry powders for a rich aroma and flavor. Slow cooked to perfection with potatoes and carrots. It was to perfection, the meat was mouth watering tender and fell off the bones. My wife had the chicken stew, it was delicious. See our food pics, don't blame me if you drool on your smartphone.

Lighthouse never disappoints (unless they ran out of jerked chicken for the day!) Lighthouse is to-go only restaurant with a small menu but all the necessary essentials! I brought my friend here for her first ever try of Jamaican, reluctant at first because of the hole-in-the-wall look that Lighthouse has, but once she took a bite of her jerked pork with rice n peas, that reluctance evaporated!!! "This is GAS!" She says For us college kids, Lighthouse matches our price range with between $10-$14 with 1 or 2 sides!! Love to support local yums, get Lighthouse for lunch!

I haven't had Jamaican food in so long and there so many places to choose from. I got lucky that I found this place through Yelp. I ordered a medium curry goat with rice and beans. It also comes with plantains, medium oxtail with the same side of rice and beans and plantains, medium jerk chicken with a side of rice, bean, and cabbage, side of plantains, and mac and cheese. I have to say the portion side is amazing, definitely gave a good amount of food. I love every single dish. They were all very tasty and well seasoned but my favorite has to be the oxtail, curry goat, plantains, and the cabbage. Mac and cheese is the only dish I think was ok. Dry and not cheesy enough. There was only one person working but nevertheless, the wait wasn't bad and the service was good. I will come back again and get some seafood dishes like the fish.

This place has very tasty food. Simple atmosphere & Clean. I recommend. Not so friendly but not rude. Definitely go if you want good tasting food I got jerk chicken rice and beans and cabbage. Portions are generous! Price was decent. Got a beef patty my total was $14.

Excellent food at an excellent price. This place hit all the marks. Also, one of the only places open this late (until 10 PM) during the COVID pandemic. I was able to satisfy my Jamaican food craving with just a short 20 minute drive to this little store. I am so happy I did. There isn't too much to say. I got the curry chicken platter with rice and peas alongside cabbage. Nowadays, it's rare to get several meals worth of food (an amazingly large plate) for $9.63. In fact, at most of the other local restaurants I have been to around this area, this same meal would usually cost $12+. The price was great and the food was all-around tasty. I enjoyed my meal. I would absolutely return to try out more items on the menu. I would also recommend this place to others.

This is the oxtail, cabbage and rice. It was delicious and worth the price.

They have done it again this platter of oxtails and cabbage was fantastic. The cabbage had peas carrot and corn in it, it was good yummmmm

    Oxtail, rice and mac/cheese

I was yesterday years old when I realized I had never been into the Lighthouse Jamaican Restaurant, which means I've been foolishly driving past one of the best Jamaican restaurants in town. I enjoyed an order of Oxtails, rice/beans, and Mac and Cheese. The oxtail had great flavor but the meat was even more tender. It literally fell off the bone. Atmosphere: This place is designed to give a welcoming atmosphere. There is great music playing in the background! Two employees: Joan and Davion also greet you with bright smiles. Overall Impression: If I'm in the area, you're going to find me enjoying the spectacular flavors at Lighthouse Jamaican Restaurant. No question.

    Fried fish

I ordered fried fish with rice and cabbage. The minute I opened the container, I noticed the smell was off. I took a bite of the fish and immediately knew it was not fresh. So much so that I threw it away because it was inedible. Unfortunately since it was sitting on the rice and vegetables, they tasted just as bad

Ordered 4 deconstructed rotis: 2 chicken and potato, a goat and a jerk chicken. 3 with paratha root and 1 with buss up shut. All were super tasty-deep and (not too) spicy flavor, really good sized portions (it gave me 3 meals) and packed nicely. substitutes for the curried potatoes that typically go along with the meal are available. I would personally get the buss up shut variety of roti or opt for the wrapped version in the future the chickpea filling was quite messy due to my error of ripping it. A very satisfying meal nonetheless. I'm looking forward to trying some of their other offerings.

But no, it's a modest little place, warm in its purpose, serious in its portions. I ordered the large jerk chicken. $16.99. That's not money, that's a gesture of kindness. The bird was a bit dry in parts, like maybe it had been waiting on the tarmac a little too long. But the flavor. Smokey like a memory of something better and layered with more character than a freshman novel. Not spicy, which some folks might see as a flaw, myself often included, but in this case I found it thoughtful. Not everything has to hurt to be honest. The mac and cheese. Well. I've suffered through bland noodles before and this was not that. This was creamy comfort served without apology. My wife agreed. And she does not toss compliments about easily when it comes to macaroni. She also had a beef patty. I watched her eat it and for a moment she was somewhere else entirely. That, my friends, is the power of pastry and spiced beef. Now the cabbage. Steamed and sweet. A dish so humble it could almost be missed. But I didn't miss it. It was lovely. A vegetable that tasted like it had read a few good books and knew how to be generous. For dessert I had banana pudding from a place called Yevette's Yummy Creations. A name like that usually sets off alarm bells in my soul. Too cute by half. But let me tell you. That pudding was the real article. Smooth. Sweet. A little nostalgic. Like a postcard from someone you forgot you loved, scented like Nila Wafers. Four stars. Not five. The chicken was dry after all. But even so. Scotch Bonnet Kitchen is a place that knows what it's doing and does it with care. That's more than I can say for most of the world. I will be back.
