I had some issues with my BCBA at first…read morebut after having a what I thought was a genuine conversation, things seems to be going better. I had to find another job when my client kept repeating cancelling sessions. (One time they cancelled a full week at the last minute each morning.) This was not the company's fault so I didn't take it out on them, however, my bills require money. I actually ended working a one MONTH notice -- instead of 2 weeks -- and thought I had left on good terms. However, over the past few months, any time I saw a job post (online) and I would apply -- I wouldn't hear back or it would be days later that the case is no longer or most recently, "posted in error". Then I remembered during my "exit interview" I left some HONEST but less than positive feedback about my BCBA and the fact that no one from the company conducted an in-home assessment to know that the client's home had and infestation of... "pests". During that phone call, the coordinator I spoke with said, "we've haven't had any complaints from our other RBTs" and I responded, "well, it's not like ya'll reach out and ask us 'how's it going with your BCBA?'." I have no ill will towards this company but it is very disappointing to be treated this way when I only spoke my truth and I do want to let others know about my experience. (This was for the Atlanta, GA location.)

I have to comment.... this afternoon I received a phone call from a contact experiencing a flat…read moretire in this facilities parking lot. This individual was transporting an 85+ year old person with dementia who uses an walker to get around to a medical appointment when the tire went flat and they rolled into the facilities lot. I have never been more disappointed in the human services profession than I was today. Not one person who approached the car asked if they could help, or if the elderly individual in the car was in any distress due to the heat. They wanted the car to moved so it would not interfere with the line up for the end of their day. When the driver suggested they move the car slowly to another spot in the parking lot they were told no. The tow truck arrived within 20 minutes of the call and no interruption of their services occurred. I arrived a quickly as I could from 20 miles away to load the elderly individual into my car to get her out of the heat. The treatment received by the staff was deplorable. You would think that facility staff who worked with folks needing ABA therapy would know how to be flexible to interruption and changes in routine. More importantly, how to treat people with the same kind of kindness they would like to be treated.
