Let me preface this review by saying that I hate that I am having to write it, but I think it's…read moreimportant to share the negative experience I had with this practice. Today during my appointment, I was scolded like a damn child because I had the audacity to do some research on my own. God forbid I want to take an active role in my own healthcare and treatment. God forbid I want to be informed about what I was going through, and what the medications that were being prescribed to me might do. God forbid. Never once did I try to influence Jessica's treatment plan because of the research I had done. I was keeping an open mind, even in light of a very poor experience I had with some medication. I simply wanted to be informed, be able to ask questions in an educated manner, and keep an eye on what was happening with my care. Which, I might add, its a good thing that I did. Because Jessica prescribed me a secondary medication that, per my GeneSight test, would have a "Significant Gene-Drug Interaction" for me. *I* caught that, not Jessica-- and I only happened to catch it by chance. But *I* caught it, not her. She prescribed me something she admitted I should not take, but only after *I* caught that it was in my GeneSight with a significant interaction warning. Beyond that, many times during my appointments Jessica was distracted, extremely so at times. Given the high hourly rate she charges, I don't think it's unfair for me or any patient to demand her undivided attention. She even apologized during one appointment for being especially distracted that day due to some employee-related issue within the practice that she was dealing with. She was also significantly late to every single appointment I had scheduled with her, by as much as 20+ minutes on multiple occasions, affecting the amount of time we had for my appointments. I have to wonder if these constant distractions are what lead to her incorrectly prescribing me the above mentioned medication that *I* caught and she didn't. If that was the case -- what other mistakes had she or could she be making with *my* care and treatment? Now maybe you'll understand why I was doing my own research and why I was so damn offended by being treated like a child and scolded for having done so. On a personal level, I thought Jessica was really nice. She was easy to talk to which I very much appreciated. I struggled for a long time to start this process before finally making my initial appointment, and finding someone who was easy to talk to was a huge relief. As a medical professional, however, I would not recommend IN Focus First and Jessica Walsh to anyone looking for evaluation and treatment of OCD, ADHD, Anxiety, Depression or any other mental health conditions. I hate that I'm having to leave this negative review. Even though I had a very poor experience with my first prescribed medication, I did not blame her. I understand that these things take time and sometimes you have to go through a few medications before finding the one that works for you. Unfortunately I am now in the position where I've wasted four months of my time and nearly fifteen-hundred dollars ($1,460 to be exact not including GeneSight testing and medications) with nothing to show for it, and needing to start all over again elsewhere. Insanely frustrating to say the least.

Sarah Baumgartner has been an asset in dealing with challenges that have come up. She holds a group for teen girls every few months. There are other experts available for all ages at this location, including a psychiatrist and psychologist, with several methods and focus matters that include, but are not limited to ADD/ADHD, OCD, family issues, substance abuse, self harm, eating disorders, anxiety and depression. Each therapist keeps their own schedule and hours. Many at this practice accept credit cards and file insurance. The office environment is relaxing and nurturing. We've been very pleased to have someone help to mediate or offer understanding and suggestions for how to handle and best overcome circumstances that sometimes become a temporary roadblock to life and allow her to blossom and realize her full potential.

From the front desk to the nurse, the doctor and the therapists all have treated me with respect and dignity. All staff are very knowledgeable about eating disorders and how to treat the whole person and not just the disease. I have seen two nutritionists, a psychiatrist, two doctors, two nurses and a couple of the therapists. I have been in their outpatient and PHP programs and I would say the care I have received only improved over time. I would highly recommend seeking treatment here as a first stop or as one of your stops in your recovery journey. I am constantly impressed by their care and have felt supported every step of the way.

I see a Psychiatrist, a Psychologist, an Internist, a Dietitian, and a Family Psychologist at the center. I also attend group therapy. The recovery process takes a lot of time and effort, but it is worth it. I have been a patient at Charis for almost 9 months so far. I am not sure when my journey will end, but the visits reduce in frequency over time.
