I'm leaving this review in hopes of saving someone else from the HORRENDOUS experience I had with Jon. I initially reached out because of an issue that was potentially complex, so we were hoping an experienced professional could help us. On Jon's website, people boast about how he "handled a difficult problem professionally and smoothly" and "took a tough project and broke it down", so I was optimistic and hopeful. I now don't believe those reviews were legit because my experience of Jon was the complete opposite!!! He was extremely CONDESCENDING, UNPROFESSIONAL, RUDE, and not even a little bit helpful. My guess is the people leaving 5 star reviews are friends of his, because there's no way I would ever hire him based on my initial interaction. Jon at Light Your Fire is great. Several months ago, I wandered into his store with a long list of questions about the gas fireplace at a home we recently purchased. He patiently answered all of my questions and even showed me how to install a new remote thermostat.... using a floor sample to explain how to wire it all up. In addition, we needed to replace a blower fan. He told me how to best identify the fan needed and even confirmed that the supplier I had identified was a good place to buy it from. Today, Tyler from his team came out to replace the blower. He was fantastic! Not only did he perform the repair, but walked me through my unit and provided me some great tips on operate it properly. We were referred to Light Your Fire through a friend and contracted Jon to do a new gas fireplace for us. As we began working with Jon we realized that he and his crew could do so much more than just install a gas fireplace. They helped us completely remodel our living room which involved removing some very dated, large and dirty rock from the house. As the project wrapped up we replaced our floors only to realize the flooring company would not do trim work... Jon was able to step in and finish the job the flooring company could not. We decided that we wanted to replace the wood burning fireplace in our house with a larger, gas burning unit.
