Upon arrival, i was a novice cycler, and had not tried to bike for a great many years. He knew exactly which cycle was for me, which one was perfect for my partner, and fitted us with seats, locks, and child seats for an extremely reasonable price. The best part is - free tune-ups and quick fixes! Inevitably, your bicycle will need some TLC, just bring it back by the shop and Colin fixes it fast and free of charge. It's really comforting to know that businesses like this still exist in the world. They also have a good selection of accessories such as baskets, lights, locks and helmets for sale, again at good value for money. The guys that run the shop are very knowledgeable about all cycle-related matters. They are happy to install extras (such as lights and locks) without charging extra for the labour and carry out repairs reliably and promptly.

Visited one proprietor who wanted to rent me a bike, with a hefty security deposit - but no helmets to offer. So, I walked 50% farther than the first bike shop, to end up @ Chris's Bikes in Cambridge, UK. The proprietor, Chris Lloyd, is a friendly, helpful, and most importantly knowledgeable person. I explained my previous experience, and that I was hoping to have access to a bike for Saturday (today) and Sunday, and that Mr. Chris Adams of the Cambridge Cycling Club had recommended him. Well, even though Mr. Lloyd has the most modern accessories and cycles offered in his shop, it was like stepping into the 19th century walking in. He sized me up, got the details, fitted me to a NEW GIANT DEFY bicycle (!!), and handed me a spare inner tube, a new bike pump, tire-removing tools, and HELMET! - for 10% less than the other shop wanted to charge - and NO hefty security deposit - just a handshake! I was shocked. I said, "....you can take a photocopy of my passport, or my drivers license"....he refused. I did give him my mobile telephone, and agreed to meet him at a specific time on Monday morning, to return his property. Amazing to meet a fellow like this, anywhere on the globe. Chris went out of his way to help us and rooted through stock to find exactly what we wanted and then also did a great deal on the price ven Hugh we were in no position to push for a discount. He did all of this in a bright happy demeanour with a real interest in what we were doing and why. He made a crisis into an chilled, relaxed late Friday afternoon shopping trip. Highly recommended

Primo Cycles asked me for feedback about 4 weeks ago, so I wrote something to them. I haven't…read moreposted it until now because I thought that I would give them right to reply/ a chance to apologise/ make recompense, but now my patience has run dry. I felt ambivalent about Primo Cycles for a few years; thinking that some of the staff there were alright, but having a slight feeling that "I'm bothering him", in some interactions with Steve. There have been a few times where he had over-promised and under-delivered, but not enough to completely put me off. At the end of March 2023, I persevered with Primo Cycles because I needed replacement mudguards for my wife's bike, and they are the closest Trek supplier. My bike also had the forks stuck in the headtube, so I took the frame and forks in as well. To be fair, they removed some really stuck forks and kept the frame intact. I understood that the forks had to be sacrificed, but Steve reassured me that he would "get me back on the road before the Easter Bank Hol weekend". Steve then never contacted me again about his forlorn search for replacement forks. I attended the shop twice and phoned the shop twice over the next couple of months . Steve did explain that the spec I needed was difficult to find, but I became increasingly sure of the feeling that I am bothering him. After 2 months without a bike I gave up on Primo supplying new forks and simply had to buy another bike. You can see why I think that Steve over-promises and under-delivers. To compound my disillusionment with Primo, I realised in the meantime that my Shimano 105 brake callipers had been thrown away with the forks. I told Steve that they had gone missing. Again, it was an interaction with him where I felt like I was bothering him, but he said that he would look for them and get back to me. There has been no apology and no getting back to me. As for the mudguards, nearly 2 months after paying a deposit on the order, Ben finally told me (22nd May) that "they were in the country, and awaiting Customs clearance." I emailed Ben for an update in mid-June, and I got this back on 29th June: "Unfortunately the colour match mudguards have been further delayed and they do not have an ETA as to when they will come back into stock. The only option would be to move a more standard black mudgaurd (sic)." So, a month after being told that the mudguards were in the country, I was told this, which I found really annoying because it does not make sense, and I could have fitted black mudguards 3 moths earlier! This is beyond a joke when it comes to over-promising and under-delivering. My trust in Primo Cycles is shattered.

I found they have…read moresome of the best selection of used bikes in town and for much more reasonable prices than other places, such as the bike man in the market who sells them for nearly twice as much as this shop. While they were very busy when I went it and I had to wait a bit to get my bike fixed up, I had also happened to go during the beginning of term, so their being busy is to be expected then. Overall I was very satisfied with both the price and quality of service. They did a great job servicing the bike and were willing to bargain with me a bit so that we were both happy with the price in the end. I also greatly enjoyed talking with the owner and would certainly recommend the shop to a friend. A word of advice: If you come into this shop being rude, the owner will be rude to you as well! However if you are a reasonable person, the owner and staff are quite friendly and will treat you to a great used bike for a great price.

Really liked this place…read more As some of the other reviews allude to, the owner is VERY rough around the edges, but not in an unpleasant way in my personal experience - he just 'calls it as he sees it' and doesn't accept any bullshit. If you're reasonable and respectful then he's a friendly, helpful guy who knows his bikes. If you come off as abrasive or entitled then I imagine the customer service won't be what you're used to :). Bought a bike back in September for the start of uni, had a couple of things that needed fixing or replacing in that time and they went out of their way to sort it for me. For free, as well, as it was under the warranty, with no attitude like some places I've dealt with. Just helpful friendliness. They also offer general maintenance stuff like refilling your tyres, tightening up the parts etc for free indefinitely, even after the warranty expires. They don't have to do that, and I certainly appreciate it as I don't have the tools to do it myself. I can't vouch for the selection, as when I bought mine it was during the tail end of the start of term, so there weren't very many left, but in the months I've gone in since it's always seemed pretty packed. Overall, yeah. I'd encourage you to at least check them out if you're thinking of buying a bike.

Our plan was thrown for a loop when I realized the station was now a pile of rubble. We were told to look for it downtown - only noone knew where it was located. We eventually found it (sorry I don't remember where it was) and decided not to rent bikes (it seemed incredibly difficult to ride on the streets as it's busy and we were tourists unfamiliar with driving on the opposite side). It was 4 pounds each to store our luggage, and we had a good enough time walking around Cambridge. We were told by many people that this is the only place to store luggage in Cambridge.
