I wish I could give them no stars, because I'm so frustrated with the continual bad service received from one of their staff members. There are two guys that work there one of them is lovely, friendly and helpful. The other one is like a teenager with an attitude problem. Not only is he rude, surly and generally lacking in any customer service skills, but every time I go there to get something fixed, he points out something else which he claims needs fixing (clearly trying to drum up extra business). Last time he told me that my rear tyre was worn out and would need replacing soon. I've only had that tyre for 3 months, and considering the last ones lasted around 10 years, I'd be pretty surprised if that were true.
Other problems I've had a new basket, about six months ago, has now rusted through in several places (poor quality).
New seat, at the same time as the basket - paid more for a better one, already has a rip in it.
Took my bike in with a puncture and had a new inner tube fitted (at a cost of £9.50). When I left the shop, the wheel was making a hissing noise. It lasted a week, and then went completely flat again overnight. Took it back to be told it must be a new puncture and it would cost me £9.50 again. I was of course told this in a rude tone by the surly worker, who also told me that the noise must have been caused by the wheel bearings being on the way out. Well, that's a coincidence, because it wasn't making a noise at all before I took it in for the first puncture.
As well as the guy with the attitude problem, the other main problem is that they only accept cash, and the nearest cash machine is a ten minute walk away, which is far from ideal when you're trying to pop in on a lunch break.
I've used this shop several times now, as it's in a convenient location, but after the guy's attitude reduced me to tears this morning, I won't be going back again. It's a shame, because the other guy who works there is so nice, and he is really being let down by his colleague's performance. read more
