Title: Prescription seemed to be wrong, but they wouldn't recheck without me paying $95…read more I got an eye exam and a prescription. I told the eye doctor that while the options he flipped to, looked the best out of the choices, the right eye didn't look right. He held lenses over my glasses, that was supposed to be equivalent and it looked ok, so I went with it. I then looked at buying glasses there, but their prices, even with insurance, were about $150 more than other places, so I decided to buy them from my husband's eye doctor. The glasses came back and the vision wasn't right in the right eye so they made them again. It still wasn't right so they asked me to have my doctor recheck the prescription for my right eye. I made an appointment and came in, but was told that they couldn't recheck my eye prescription without having the glasses and that it would cost $95 to have it done. I asked, even if it's discovered that the prescription was wrong, I'd have to pay? And they said yes. So I said I wouldn't be returning and if I have to pay, I will pay a different place to do it. I can't believe they won't check if they made a mistake.

They charged me full price, over $230 for the office visit. The Dr told me to use refresh eye drops more often, it was probably dry eyes, he was struggling too. I have and do use eyedrops through out the day, for years. It has been 1 year and my vision in the corrected eye, new lenses in my glasses too, is aweful. I will need the other eye done and will go elsewhere. I was going to switch my vision care to this office but will stick with Costco. The office staff is great, the Dr is nice, but "good enough" does'nt cut it when it comes to corrected vision.

Once in the exam room I waited an hour before I finally called the front desk and asked them what was going on, that I had had been in the exam room for an hour. They said they would let someone know. About 10 minutes later a tech came and said that I was next, that it shouldn't be too long. Thirty minutes later the doctor came in. I waited a total of an hour and a half! On top of that the doctor didn't have the professional courtesy to apologize. She just began working on my eye, she also tweaked my eye while examining it, which was extremely painful. She then blew it off explaining to the tech that I was experiencing a little problem, that I was feeling uncomfortable. I have never experienced such treatment by an eye care professional. There are some positives though: before this visit I did see a Dr. Bagga, who was great, the optician named Rhonda was fabulous and the clinics lab did do a super job on my prescription, and finally the front desk staff were very polite and courteous.

He…read moreis very approachable, patient, and takes the time to answer questions and make you feel at ease. You can tell he cares about his patients. I think the best thing about him is his demeanor--he is not intimidating or condescending at all, and very knowledgeable about dentistry! His staff are also great. I've had wonderful interactions with the front desk staff member, Ashley. She is great at explaining everything, talking through insurance coverage, and scheduling--both over the phone and in person. She's also really patient, which is helpful. I haven't had all positive interactions with every single dental assistant, but they're great for the most part (I had one talk about politics while she was cleaning my teeth, which was uncomfortable and felt inappropriate because I didn't want to talk about politics and couldn't respond because she was flossing my teeth; I also noticed that other dental assistants will frequently interrupt my appointment to ask Dr. Burnett a question, which I found disrespectful). When I come in for general cleanings, I wish I had more time to talk to Dr. Burnett and ask him questions, but when he fixed a filling for me, he did take the time to make sure I had everything I needed and felt supported, answering all of my questions. The clinic is small and it's a very intimate atmosphere, which is like. I feel very calm and comfortable here. Overall, a great dentist. The only pause I have is that there are no people of color who work here. The facility also closes during lunch, so I've had to wait outside during this time.

He went to the wrong Albany facility, so arrived at 10:10 AM for his 10 AM appointment. They turned him away, stating he should have arrived at 930 AM. When I called to inquire as to the discrepancy of early arrival instruction as he would've had a larger cushion of time to have made it to the correct facility, the receptionist said that it's here nor there because he was late, and that they have a seven minute policy so he was there for three minutes outside of the policy, and they are now booking out to May. Wow.

From an early age, I found myself with an insatiable appetite for fillings. Today I am full blown…read moreconnoisseur. To my credit, I practice great hygiene, to my detriment, the genetic composition of my teeth leaves much to be desired. From this vast pool of experience in dental treatment, I have never felt obligated to leave a review. However, my recent appointment with Dr. Smart has motivated me, for the first time, to share my experience. Getting a filling (and in my case, 3 fillings) always seems to require cold back sweat, sticky leather chairs and the smell of the filling-resin drying under a harsh purple curing light. I cannot leave out the Novocain shot of course. Nothing prompts the breakout of a cold sweat like the anticipation of a novocain shot. This experience as a whole conspires to leave dentists feeling helpless in reversing the hint of dread afflicting most every patient facing an upcoming filling appointment. Alleviating the pain and anxiety of having your teeth drilled into will ultimately require new drugs and techniques that technology may well eventually solve. However, I do not see a relaxed filling coming anytime soon. In the meantime, I recommend Dr. Smart! He did not physically hold my hand during the procedure, but he is a great communicator and spent much of the time explaining to me the particulars of the procedure. Why was this immensely helpful? Well, rather than kidding myself that the images of Hawaii's Big Island could distract me from drilling, I found that actively thinking about the procedure was extremely helpful. By listening to Dr. Smart's description of the events unfolding I viewed the experience from the role of the dentist rather than that of the patient. In so doing, I found little reason to complain about receiving three fillings. At the end of the appointment, I was still numb obviously, but I was happy because the price tag was affordable, the service careful and attentive and I found that Dr. Smart truly cares about your experience. I cannot say this about every dentist.

The doctor and technician offered that after a few minutes we could resume the test OR that I could go home and return to finish the test. Apparently I made the bad choice: I was not allowed for set another appointment. I returned the next day to try to schedule the hearing test. With advice from the back office technician, the receptionist was prompted on how to deal with me. They said the hearing test results were mailed to my primary care dr. Crazy--I am the patient and the doctor or technician should talk to ME. When I persevered with the staff to schedule a time to finish the hearing test and time to TALK TO ME. The technician came front to grudgingly agree to schedule "only one more appointment." I was granted an appointment 4 months out. When I contacted my primary dr. to get the results found at my first appointment she said that she had not received my audiology report, and if she had the results she would not be able to take action on them. Our best solution was to get a different referral and start over. I found my way to a great audiologist, fully worth the drive out of town. Makes me wonder how they stay in business?
