I used LifeSaver CPR to get re-certified for my BLS-CPR license at the San Mateo location, which actually takes place at the Gurnick Academy of Medical Arts. My instructor for the day was David Ybarra. David was a great instructor, very comedic at times, but he was really serious about making sure we learned the proper technique and skills to perform accurate CPR, educating us from the book and from personal experience as a firefighter. It's nice that they provide enough dummies for every single student to practice their CPR techniques and David walked around making sure everyone's techniques were applicable to perform CPR. The facilities were nice. They have a kitchen in the back where you can get water and coffee and also a secured parking lot in the building for students to park their cars. Great experience. I was really disappointed in this class. I have been taking BLS classes since 1987, and have also taken some ACLS classes during the 1990s. This class had some first - time attendees who had very poor technique as far as assessing pulse and delivering compressions. The instructor did not correct them, and the test was open book. I certainly hope that if I or a family member ever need CPR it is done by someone who knows how to do it! read more
