UNPROFESSIONAL I was…read morewaiting for some bloodwork at this location this morning. Around 7:44am, a staff comes out to call for a patient. I looked at her name tag so I know the name but I'll save that for a formal complaint to Lifelabs. She calls the patient name twice and what shocked most of us was when she yells the name of the test the patient was there for. Most of us looked at each other with eyebrows raised. Isn't this considered private information? And you yell it out in front of about 20 people? How unprofessional. Additionally, she told me off for not being able to find my veins. I told her they were shy and I've always had problems when getting blood work done because it takes a while to find them. She scolded me when she found out I didn't drink water. I told her the requisition specifically stated fasting and no food or water for 8 hours prior. She went on and on about how Doctor should have told me to drink water blah blah blah. It was such an uncomfortable encounter and I didn't like it. Not a great way to start the morning!

I've gone there about 4 times and was met twice with a sign saying 'no walk-ins today'. So frustrating. Switchboard is not geared for walk-in's either, last time i called to inquire about walk-ins i spent 15 minutes listening to prompts and calling back a few times to talk to get a real person. If you can make it past all the obstacles, great clinic. Wish they took new patients!

While the phlebotomist that drew my blood was very good, polite, helpful (young, petit, Asian woman…read morewith beautiful curly long dark hair) others in the office I observed as I waited to be called in were abrupt and borderline rude to several people. Bernoulli at reception was loud, almost obnoxious and he is just not the right fit for someone in that position. He was trying to get information from a man (who I overhead has cancer). His manner of questioning this older man about the man's Doctor's address was pathetic and sad. Martha is nice, can be curt (past experiences). She always has a really sour look on her face. They don't want to be there. Guess what? The clients who come in to have labwork done don't want to be there either. A lot are going through some pretty serious health stuff, and they are terrified / scared. They should be treated with some level of dignity and compassion, and basic human respect. ALL the clients who go there should be treated with respect. If the staff are stressed because they are so busy, perhaps this giant company should be hiring more people (?) to staff the lab. I notice the labs are often closed for training. At this location, MUCH MORE training is required regarding human interaction.

Personally, I feel that especially because they are a medical clinic they really should offer paper towels in the washrooms. I've been to so many LifeLabs, I've lost count. But BY FAR, this is the absolute best site, hands…read moredown. Here are the reasons: -efficiency. They are appointment-based only. No walk-ins. So you are assured a spot and a time, with minimal waiting. -large and bright office, and impeccably clean. -FREE WI-FI. (This is a real rarity at other lab sites). -more services are offered here than at many other LifeLab sites. Examples: EKG's, cardiac holder monitors, etc. -Professionalism of staff. A female checked me in (I didn't get her name) and although she was somewhat aloof, she was thorough and organized and I had zero wait time. My tech was Ian and he was phenomenal. I have had to get cardiac monitors and EKG's frequently and he was the most thorough when it came to instructions and, wow, they even provide you with a mesh "vest" over the monitor (I never got that before, and it made a huge difference in comfort level and stability). And even upon returning the following day, the staff here remembered me and the whole "disconnect and drop-off" experience was, dare I say, pleasant. My experiences at this site were unlike any I've had at other LifeLabs, and this will be the only site I go to from here on in, for sure.
