Let's see where to start. The place is an abortion of a gym. Trainers are pathetic at best. Equipment is average or below. All this is is a place to vacuum out your pockets. They care nothing about anything but money. In fact one of their employees sexually harassed a member and they didn't fire her. More than likely bc she was a popular trainer. The manager of the facility is worthless. Her concerns are about money only. Not safety. The services have sadly declined. Pay less and go elsewhere for subpar service and staffing. read more

I had joined for the summer of 2018, we had gotten our babysitter a membership as well so she could help when we took our twin 3 year olds to the pool there. We cancelled in August, no problem. Suddenly in December I start getting billed again. Apparently my old babysitter, who I had removed from my account in August before cancelling. Joined on her own, and they started charging my credit card. They give you a bunch of numbers to call telling you they will give you your refund. But it's just a run-around. Multiple times we've been told that our refund is on way. But after a few weeks we call again. And the run-around starts again. Phyllis, the lady we spoke to is often times condescending. They refuse to issue a refund even though they admit it was a mistake and we shouldn't be charges. This place is about as dishonest a business as I have ever used. read more

My absolute life savior. The complimentary classes include Amazing instructors and cool lighting with colors it feels most as if you're at the club. Been a founding member since the place opened. Yes, it is expensive. We joined because my husband was looking for a place to swim at night. I joined later when my Pilates studio closed. There are few free group Pilates classes given at LTF and I have yet to try the small group classes for which there is an extra fee. The hours are terrific for people who wish to work out late at night or early in the AM. I declined the initial personal fitness and nutrition assessment and my husband balked when they wanted to take a blood sample, but he did the other stuff and never got any results. We've had the same account rep, Mike, since we signed up. He has been attentive and accommodating. We've had to stop/start our membership a couple of times for medical reasons. I'd been warned there are frequent billing screw ups when this kind of thing happens and there was, but he helped us straighten it out. There's no question these guys have to continually prove themselves to upper management and the idea is sell, sell, sell. Don't kid yourself, this is a national company that follows a successful formula that is working. My one complaint is that within the goal of keeping to the corporate philosophy, they (purposely?) loose any attachment to the local community..other than cross marketing, perhaps. I think even a bulletin board where members could post things would be a good idea. The GM could do a better job of basically being a bit more visible and available to the members. I did get an email from her once asking me how things were going. I'm not there every day, but I've rarely seen her. Just introducing herself at random and shmoozing with the members might help. Honestly, I hate working out and frequently change my routine when I get bored, but the club offers a lot of diversity of choice. Some of the group classes can be a bit intimidating. They are large and many include a span of levels of expertise. I have yet to see "beginner" or "advanced" levels of classes. A few Zumba instructors brought their following with them to the club. This is great, but really difficult for "newbies" to follow a routine already so familiar to the others. Some reviewers (mostly men) have described dirty locker rooms. I haven't experienced that at all, though my husband has repeatedly told me "the men are like pigs". I've seen hard working female staff in the ladies' locker room constantly picking up, wiping down, refilling towel shelves, mopping and helping club members with lockers and special requests. I've been told there's quite a bit of theft, so I'm careful about locking my locker when I walk away from it. Some theft has been from the club...blow dryers for instance. The beautiful orchids in the ladies' room lasted a year and are now gone. But many amenities remain and I like that I don't have to worry about bringing my own supplies and can grab my bag and go. The parking lot is gigantic and the spaces are not tiny. Considering the numbers, statistically, I don't think it is a dangerous lot at all. Stuff happens. Drive carefully!! I've found most people, staff and members, considerate of others. There are always a few bad apples. The outdoor pool is crazy busy on weekends. Last time I was there the pool staff conducted a "safety break" every hour. That means, basically, everyone out of the pool except for the lap area. Annoying, yes, but important...YES! I've never seen an unhappy child at LTF...except for one who was having a melt down on his way out because he couldn't get something from the cafe! This is the kind of place where you get out of it what you wish. If it's too costly, don't join and if you do, resist the $15 socks in the club store and don't sign up for extra services you don't want or can't afford. I tried to go in to speak with a manager in regards to a local nursery school upcoming fundraising event and was told hat I couldn't speak with her unless I was a member of the gym. I could not believe that this manager outdoors not step out of her office to speak for herself and had the person behind the desk speak for her. The nursery school consists of over 200 young families in the same community, some of which already are members of this club. I found this experience to be appalling and very poor in business and community relations . Shame on them. read more

No toy policy? Last weekend toys were allowed in the pool. We show up this weekend and had my 2 year old son and multiple other toddlers screaming because they can't bring their toys into the pool. This is an amazing, well-equipped facility. But it is also proof that looks can be deceiving. Another reviewer described it as a shopping mall disguised as a gym - that is accurate. Lifetime is constantly promoting, selling and advertising something while paying little attention to the member experience: * The locker rooms are dirty. People don't think twice about leaving towels laying around and they remain there for hours. * The showers are gross. The floors are filthy and it's not unusual to find razors, coffee cups and wads of gum in the stalls. * There is no oversight in the workout areas. Most gyms have floor trainers walking around to assist people, keep the equipment organized and maintain a sense of order. That role doesn't exist here. Children use the cardio area as a playground and equipment is often scattered all over the upstairs area. The tattoo and tank top crowd has taken over the strength training area. * The place has been open for 10 months and much of the equipment is starting to show wear and tear. This place is open 20 hours a day, so no surprise. The problem is that when machines break, they are not fixed for several weeks. * Other reviewers have mentioned kids and they are accurate. They are everywhere, at all hours. I've seen them here at 7:30am and 9:15pm. Why not have some adults-only hours? Weekend mornings before 10, when many of us who work look forward to working out would be a great start. The management is indifferent. I've been asked for feedback once, and that was about my preference for programming on the televisions. BTW - 30% of the screens in the club show Lifetime promotional content. UPDATE: Life Time contacted me shortly after this review was first posted to better understand my concerns. I provided my phone number and some convenient times to call. I hate every single thing about this place. Is it pretty and seemingly well equipped? Yes. So are a lot of gyms. It's the people: from the hard-selling person who responds to your inquiry and then WILL NOT LEAVE YOU ALONE and just keeps saying "when are you coming? What time today will I see you? You only have 11 days left and then we will never ever ever talk to you again!" to the guys at the pool who change the rules constantly (seriously: they made my kid cry three times in one day), to the half-assed birthday parties, it's a nightmare. The best analogy I have seen? Looks like the Ritz....feels like Motel 6. The people are just god awful. read more

I have mixed reviews about my recent visit. My friend threw a children's birthday party here. When we arrived at 11am the parking lot was already super packed to the point where people were "creating" new parking spaces. The front desk was eager to assist us when we arrived and direct us to the appropriate meeting place for the festivities. Our first adventure was an hour of rock climbing however there were a few children in the party that were under 5 and were not allowed to climb but they did not offer any other alternatives to keep them occupied for that hour so basically I had to chase my toddler around for an hour to prevent him from eating the foam bedding in the rock climbing room and ensure he wasn't KO'ed by any of the climbers or tried to run off into other parts of the facility. Was that fun for me? Nope not one bit! but I endured it because my older child was having a great time climbing. The male staff member was totally incompetent and was not doing anything to help the kids. He had that whole "I can't be bothered attitude going on" The female staff member however that joined us for most of the party was a sweetheart and actually engaged both the parents and children. Next was an hour of swimming. The family locker room was also heavily occupied with very limited places to change. They should definitely have a separate room or additional family room especially if they plan on hosting events. This made it quite inconvenient and cut into the kids swimming time because they had to wait around for a private place to change as there were both males and females in the room. After we finally made it to the swimming area it was a hot mess in there. Not the cleanest space with lint and clumps of hair on the floors. The water was heavily chlorinated. I had to wash the kids suits at least 4 times before the smell came out. Not to mention it was also like a sauna in there. Waaaaaaay too hot especially for the parents that were just there to observe. Are you wondering why we just didn't leave and go to another air conditioned part of the facility? Well that's because there was only one lifeguard for the whole pool of kids AND he was not very attentive. One time he actually left his post and one of the toddlers lost their footing and was floating face forward in the water. Luckily someone else caught that but he was pretty traumatized. Just because the children have a life vest on does not mean they are un-drownable. Either way the kids had a good time. Anyway after we sat in this sauna for an hour we looked like we just came out of the pool ourselves but the "fun" wasn't over yet. Now we went to have cake and pizza in the final room which was the party room. That room was mostly clean besides a stray piece of glass I found on the floor. They tried to play a game but that didn't last very long. The food was good but it wasn't provided by the facility so I won't provide any more details on that. This room seemed to be the most enjoyed by kids and adults alike. The kids definitely had fun and did not notice half the issues I mentioned. Would I throw a party here? HELL NO! Yesterday while I was at the pool at the Lifetime facility, my locker was broken into and had my money stolen from me. The locks are provided by lifetime and members cannot bring their own locks. The incident was reported to the police and filed a report, but Lifetime's response was less than thrilling. They sent out a basic email wiping their hands clean of any incident, which involves theft even if it's taken out of the lockers where they provide the lock. I think that this shows a lack of care for their members because people should not have to pay the fee they do and worry about their belongings not being there when they return. read more

Joined two weeks ago. NOTHING has been as represented: - We were told there was plenty of availability for swim lessons, and that they would be conducted 'whenever we want'. Not that case. There is basically ZERO availability for kids swim lessons. - Family swim hours on rainy summer days are zero - We were told there would be a 12:1 ratio of kids:staff in the child care room. Yet they count as staff the woman who sits at the desk. So there could be as many as 24 kids being watched by one teenager! Not cool. - Locker room is gross by noon. How about someone cleans this mid-day?! FOR THE AMOUNT YOU CHARGE, YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELVES! read more

This is a magnificent facility. Outstanding equipment, plus tennis and swimming. However, it is so badly run that it undermines the entire experience. My kids' swim classes have never once started on time, fitness instructors often cancel at the last minute, and management doesn't seem the least bit interested in addressing the issue. The club caters largely to fitness beginners and families. There are no programs for advanced spin, fitness, tennis, swimming etc. You will also be subjected to endless pressure to buy additional services and products, including incredibly loud and annoying advertisements run in the weight/fitness area around the clock. We've cancelled our membership ($559 per month for the family!) and will wait until they get a decent management team and better programming. read more

How much you will like the Harrison, NY LifeTime will depend of which of its services you use. I've been a member since it opened in February, and I'm growing steadily less enthusiastic, but if I were interested in its full range of offerings - which include kids' programs, squash and tennis, indoor and outdoor pools and a spa - I might be thrilled. First, the pros: The facilities are spectacular. The weight and cardio floor, yoga studio and group fitness rooms are large and well designed. The parking lot is vast and you can always find a spot. (However, once another member yelled at me because I sat putting an address into my car's navigation system, rather than pulling out immediately so he could have the spot he wanted. This should put other reviewers' complaints about parking in perspective. Hello, people, you're going to the gym? Is it so terrible to walk for three minutes from the far end of parking lot?) There are terrific group fitness instructors, many of them poached from Equinox. The cons: as a number of people mentioned, the locker room floor is growing steadily dirtier, and the toilets would benefit from more frequent cleaning. The cafe is great, for a gym, but I rarely use it because the service is unnecessarily slow. (The young people behind the counter are nice but have no idea how to do things efficiently.) Rules about bringing guests have changed drastically from the generous policy advertised six months earlier to lure members. A sign banning guns on the premises shows that the Minnesota-based company hasn't bothered to understand the culture of the Northeast (that is, that Westchesterites are not in the habit of carrying guns); ditto for the ban on nudity in the steam room (I don't care if people get naked and I'm guessing the majority of Westchesterites agree) and the cheesy, dated music in the locker room and fitness area. Speaking of music, in the cardio and fitness area it's frequently interrupted with plugs for LT's various services, and I find this irritating. However, these complaints are minor. For me, the big problem is the yoga and Pilates program. Instead of hiring good instructors and letting them do their own thing, LifeTIme has developed its own yoga and Pilates sequences, which I don't like. (Having done a RYT-200 yoga teacher training program myself, I can say with confidence that LifeTime's yoga classes are repetitive and tedious.) Because yoga and Pilates classes are important to me, I'm not happy with LifeTime and will probably go back to my old gym (Equinox). read more

I was an NYSC member who happily switched at the opportunity of a one-stop gym that featured a properly sized weight room, pool and additional facilities. Instead, what I for $160 a month was access to a shopping mall that was dressed up to be a gym. For the premium I paid, I felt that that pool facility was lacking in size (the lap pool was too small and did not have the lanes I was told from the outset). Additionally, the weight room had all the equipment you needed but it was spaced out horribly and really inefficiently. Lastly I found that the staff was almost disinterested in feedback from their members. They balked at putting simple things like traction strips in the locker rooms for traction when the tiles are wet. Overall I was left wanting more for my money and I cancelled my membership and returned to NYSC as I gladly had access to the basics that a gym should provide for alot less money per month. Lifetime had the chance to make a world class gym, but corners that are not worthy of their high monthly fees and I would not recommend it to others. read more

(And can I add what a joy it is to run on the treadmill while being serenaded by such a mind-splitting-ear-bud-penetrating screech? The time literally flies by.) Sadly, though, this total disregard for the sanity and well-being of paying members is typical of this club's passive-aggressive attitude toward the "little people" who must endure this non-stop, years-long aural assault. My relationship with this establishment began well enough but as I joined mostly for the pool, it began to feel like a summer camp especially the outdoor pool. This is a family facility and it is marketed as such. Between the camp feeling and my lack of time to take advantage of the rest of the facility I called to end my membership. I do not really hold on to my gym membership agreements nor do I read the fine print but when I called to cancel my membership I did ask the rep I was speaking with if I need to come in. I had heard I would have to. He assured me he could do this over the phone. Four months later I find I have been being charged all along, there is "no record of my conversation" with this membership rep and they insist that you cannot resign over the phone. After many calls where I could not speak to anyone in authority, one of the senior people finally takes my call and proceeds to complete the cancellation of my membership.... over the phone... ! And then sends me documentation even though the have claimed all along this could not be done. Just another bait and switch game these clubs are known for. I still get emails telling me about the "lifetime bucks" I am earning. Overcrowded, try to constantly sell you something and extremely less than accommodating when you want to cancel your membership. Unless you need a place for the kids to play when your nanny is off, or you have money to burn, stay away from this "club" read more

The kids Academy is so poorly run that I fear that they will lose a child! Please stay away. They had lost a child when I was there and they were frantically looking for him. He was found but no one had documented where he was (he had taken off to rock climbing). In the under 3s area they have 1 employee for 40 kids, not in line with their 1/9 ration they rave about. Absolutely appalled on what I have experienced with the kids Academy! They need to really focus on safety. STAY AWAY!!! read more

So I joined this gym in April or may I believe. I know it's 100% my choice to choose this and I agreed with pricing so my complaint isn't the pricing . Long story short , I lost my job go to vivid , they shut down . So I had to stop going to the gym and explained my situation via email explaining my situation . They explained that they can't do anything besides just give me 50% off my remaining balance which again I am not complaint about what I owe or the price . I am grateful they even offered the 50% . Fast forward, it's been 2 months and I am finally working . Today I receive my 1st check and when I go to my account they completely taken off the whole balance . It left me with no money. I have no money to eat , money I needed to get work attire . When I last spoke with a representative they said once I am ready I can pay it. They mentioned nothing about automatically taking it out of my account . So when I call today I'm explaining my situation and the guys tone of voice changes and speaking down on me like I'm tbis poor minority . I have no family , both my parents are gone I'm doing all of those on my own. I 100% get I am an adult and tbis was my decision to come to this gym. I never said I wasn't going to pay or that I was complaining about a price . My complaint is that they took the money without my permission and when I called the guy did not want to help me , passes me on to a a manger . He didn't even say he was transferring me just hung up on me and then the manager is even worst . Also speaking down to me giving me short answers not giving me any help . I ask if they can take out the payment in 2 weeks when I get my 2nd check. I want to pay them back I am not trying to hide from them. I've been emailing them for months keeping in contact just so they know . I don't get why they treated me this way . I have no money for food this week , no money for clothes . I don't know what I'm going to do but that making me feel like a broke minority and treating me less than a human just cause I have financial problems is horrible. I joined back in March, I think lifetime is a great gym with many amenities but however I noticed some draw backs to the place that I'm seriously thinking of canceling my membership. 1. The price per month is very pricey, $159 per person. If you want additional services such as tennis, it's an extra $40 dollars. You also have to pay for any extra tennis lessons if you were interested in doing that. 2. The pool is overcrowded with very young children. So if you're looking for a peaceful pool experience, forget about it! 3. Guests can only come Monday thru Friday after 5pm. When they do show up with you, they can only come once every six months. 4. Parking lot is a zoo, most of the time I have to park very far. 5. Staff are not trained well to answer basic questions. A lot of the staff are young college kids and have no idea what the answer is to your question (frustrating). You would think for such a high priced gym there would be knowledgable staff, but that isn't the case at all. read more

I am writing a review of their yoga classes, not the gym itself. I actually really like this gym. However, apparently you need to be in their yoga clique in order to be able to have any comfort level in their yoga classes. The instructor was cocky enough to tell me it was all in my head - I guess her lack of awareness of her poor instruction or lack of ability to taylor a class to multiple levels was all my fault. If you are looking for a beginning class that will provide you the comfort and confidence level to build your yoga practice go somewhere else than Lifetime. read more

We are new members and joined reluctantly after hearing so many negative reviews from friends that canceled their memberships. But we joined with an open mind and I really want to love it because on paper it's perfect. The kids club is very convenient and eliminates any excuses not to get in a workout. And the best part is the kids actually enjoy it. There are various classes for them which are fun and keep them active and off the iPads. The facility is clean, the associates are friendly and respectful. I have 2 problems with Lifetime. The first is the crowds. Plan to be here at 9am on the weekend if you want to get a seat out by the pool (not to mention a parking space) It is ridiculously crowded and uncomfortable. To the point where I question if it's even safe. The second problem is the constant upsell. As new members my husband and I were entitled to an "onboarding" session. Which was explained as a complementary training session. It was, however, an hour long sales pitch for training sessions, nutritional appointments, tennis, Pilates and additional classes not included in our membership. It's all done in a very smooth way and I'll admit I got roped into add on's more than once. Because as you add on you get sold into additional add ons. It's never ending. The biggest trouble with Lifetime is that there isn't a better or more convenient option in the area. Is that enough of a reason to drop large amounts of money for a membership? Perhaps. Convenience costs. I'll try anything once and will try to make it through the summer. But next year I will start earlier and do a little more homework for a better pool option and a separate gym. And a huge cost savings to boot. read more

I have been a member of this beautiful club for 3 years. I love the atmosphere at this club as soon as you walk in the door. The staff greet you with a friendly smile and answer any questions you may have for the day. Michael T. is one of the mangers I had the pleasure of dealing with. He was professional and courteous at all times. The locker room is spotless. Any trainers I ever worked with were all great. The food is healthy and very good. Joined the gym and immediately was hit with one sales pitch after another - 60 Day Challenge, AMA test, De-Tox, Personal training, Salon, Group Fitness, etc, etc. It felt like walking into a used car dealership and the only cardio workout was trying to run away from the sales pitches. The actual training staff seems somewhat decent (beyond the hardcore sales pitches), but some are definitely nicer than others. Also, if you plan to attend this gym and are new to the gym scene, bring someone with a little experience with you. It is very cliquey and not beginner friendly. read more

Just joined this place last month after hearing about all the hype and doing a trial workout to see if I liked it. This place is worth every cent!!!! You get what you pay for and if you need more than what a regular gym offers, Life Time gives it to you. You don't need to join Life Time if all you need are the machines. It's huge and there are a ton of machines but what really drove me to join Life Time were the group fitness classes. I need the extra motivation and Life Time has provided that. Not only are most of them included but they have so many. Zumba, several types of yoga, aqua zumba, and many other classes pulled me in. I think Pilates and some of the special classes are extra. Plus, the pool is a big plus!! Both an indoor and outdoor one! The locker rooms have everything you need to go from gym-to-work -- soap, shampoo, conditioner, blow dryers, towels, deodorant, etc. Sauna and steam room are in there too. They are also very clean. Life Time does try to sell you many things like personal training sessions, but do what suits you best. Yes, it is expensive, as other people have said below. But I'll say it again, it is worth it. I actually look forward to working out because I enjoy working out here that much. It's an investment for me, but one that is worthwhile. BE CAREFUL in the parking lot!! Many careless people roaming around trying to snag the next available spot but not looking and not driving cautiously. read more

I was just previously at the pool I had to wait 20 min to even get a place to sit on top of that when i ordered food I had to wait over an hour AND when my server came she told me what I ordered was sold out! Get more food on your menu, more servers DEFINITLY get more chairs! On to another issue the weight area, that area is always I mess! I can't ever find anything I'm looking for! People leave them everywhere, isn't there people to pick them up. If so I bet there we sitting there on there phones. It's not even one time it's everyone I go. I was told that it cost $249 for a "couples membership" plus $90 for each kid, despite the fact that one of my kids is 3-years-old. Realistically, is a three year old's gym membership worth $1080 a year?!? What could they possibly do that would cost that much per kid? The answer is "nothing." For a fraction of the cost to go to this ridiculous gym, you can get a pool membership, gym membership, a membership to the Y, AND a specialized membership to , say, a yoga studio or swim lessons for your kid, and STILL have thousands of dollars left to spend. I joined this place 6 months ago with my kids and it's just getting worse and worse. The swim department is a disaster. They NEVER respond to emails regarding rescheduling swim lessons. Even when we're there for our scheduled lesson, they manage to mess it up so my kids aren't getting the lesson they are supposed to be getting. I really am sick of it at this point. Customer service is terrible too. Once you sign up, they will never respond to an email or voicemail. I do like the kids academy. Generally, my kids have a great time there and the staff is fantastic. The fitness classes are also good. Bottom line, this place is a fortune and it just doesn't warrant the price tag. For the headache of dealing with the swim department alone, I feel they should be paying me! read more

Been a member at lifetime w my two kids for the last five years. In the beginning everything seemed "reasonable". My kids enjoyed kids academy classes and would want to stay for a few classes every time we went. As they have gotten older I've made suggestions about having classes for older kids ranging from 9-12, they offer memberships they should have activities specific for this age range. Haven't seen a new class interest my kids yet. This summer has been the breaking point! The outdoor pool has excessive rules and the newest one of no kids on the pool deck until 10 a.m. is insane. Chairs are always a premium and if you arrive much past 10 good luck getting chairs, on July 4th we arrived a few minutes before 10 and we were told we had to wait inside until 10 am. Another rule about outside food coming to the pool, their cafe is subpar, at best, with limited options as they try and keep things "healthy", but if you are going to charge what they are charging the food should be better quality and offer more reasonable options than is offered. For me the kicker this year was the price increase twice in one year. If you are going to raise your prices two times in one year, and charge such high prices, they need to be more accommodating to their guests. This is probably it for us. I'll utilize the pool for the summer, of course abiding by EVERY single new rule but we will be moving on as this isn't the only show on town! read more

From Jan through May the gym is great but this particular summer season has been unbearable. I specifically sign my kids up to use the pool but unless you are there by 10 AM, you will not get a seat. Lately you can find people sitting on towels on the floor. A bit much given the prices charged by the club. The pool area is just too small for the patronage. They need to do a better job of controlling numbers. read more

People are more inclined to write negative reviews than positive. I believe there is 3-5 thousand members and I'm happy with my visit, regardless of bad timing and/or someone having a bad day. Great club. Highly recommend! read more

I Love, Love, Love this gym. The yoga dept. is so great and has actually changed my life for the better. All the yoga instructors are so wonderfull and caring. Yes it is very busy on the weekends especially the outdoor pool, but if everyone would stop hogging all the chairs with their towels and spreading out to take up more chairs maybe other people could find chairs. Families with small children do not need a chair for every child, and this is only enforced on busy days. If you can't find a seat there is always someone there that can help you. I have been a member since they opened, about 3 years now. Everyone is so polite from when you first arrive to when you leave with a "Have a nice day". If I could give them six stars I would. read more
