Sorry but can't let this one just go, kind of a biggie, its the icing on the cake, this was the worst experience from an establishment, or from the employee representing this establishment same thing really. Here I am a year later, I had to just forget about the whole thing because, this might sounds strange but it was emotionally distressing. I don't even know how to put it into words, as im writing this it makes me scratch my head and still wonder what in the world was going through this woman's mind. I've been going here since 2012 there was times where I took a break from this location yet for over six years I've been coming here never once have I had a problem and that's mainly because I'm a respectful individual. May 22nd 2020, craziest part it was your general manager Sharon Kovar, at the time. Your GM treated me like I was the son she failed on, I was disrespected, yelled at, cussed at and thrown out... I am not joking... My little cousin Ali was there the whole time, if you need the proof, I have it. All of that unprofessional slander during possibly the worst time, when the pandemic was still fresh, but how your employee acted and treated the situation, well there's no time that should ever happen to anyone. That's not even the craziest part, your general manager acted this way with the little bro's around, all due to a simple small basketball game... Your general manager cussed and yelled towards me in front of minors. Who does that... I've spent almost a decade here and because of her mental break down I regret my time here completely. True story, even if I look like that guy who didn't get over it and had to say something about it way later , it's fine, cause that woman was rude af‍ you can check it out on YouTube called "STORYTIME | yelled & cussed at with kids around | I got banned" That is not how others should be acting towards anyone, maybe I'm wrong you tell me. Shortly after my workout I came to ask about the massage session and how to book it and a question about $10off promo and was greeted by Rob. I must say he is the reason i wont be buying a massage or recommending this place. He came very aggressive with an attitude towards me saying he doesn't know anything and I had to wait for the to open and couldn't help me while chase nice guy took his phone out and helped me take a look at a booking a discount on the board. Rob was unprofessional, aggressive, and rude. If you have a bad day don't take it out at a customer in a high end gym the practices customer serivce. read more

This review relates to covid response only. Member for 15 years. They advertise they are covid friendly, requiring masks etc. Reality is that at any given time, on the fitness floor, at least 20-30% have masks under their nose or chin. Many more, again at least 20% are wearing only face shields which have been shown in the medical literature to have almost effect in preventing covid spread. They also allow people to wear masks with vents which are completely ineffective. Have spoken to their general manager and other staff many times. Supposedly they have staff walking the floor asking members to mask up but in my experience, going 5 days a week at various times, this simply does not happen often enough and is ineffective. Even if I usher staff to a no mask offender, they simply raise the mask until the staff walks away and then pull down again. Will have to quit. read more

I read a lot of negative reviews about the Pickleball courts and management and I have to say, don't pay heed to them. The management has done an amazing job in trying to build and give us indoor courts when most places have only outdoor courts in a state where temps often touch 110+ degrees. There will always be some growing pains. But they did their best and am confident are coming up with more solutions regarding the adjacent basketball court and the rock climbing area. The guys who run the pickleball games are nothing but amazing. They try their best to pair people in the similar skill level so everyone can have an amazing experience and can learn and grow. I see nothing wrong with that. There are a lot of impatient and unreasonable players who throw temper tantrums and thats nothing new to any sport or a facility. I would not pay heed to any judgement based of the negative reviews and would absolutely congratulate lifetime and the staff for doing an amazing and more importantly FAIR job in the way they are trying to conduct these games. read more

Unbelievable. Not only did Lifetime CONTEST my reporting of their unauthorized charge to my credit card after I cancelled (I have no month to month contract). THEY CHARGED my credit card again a month later. I even have email proof that they cancelled my account. This company is unbelievable. Poor service. Rude. As everyone immune-compromised knows-- you can't use a gym right now. Especially one that doesn't clean well or enforce mask-wearing. Gross. Dirty. And, you are still charging my credit card? And, LifeTime even feigned caring by responding to my last review--but has done nothing to rectify this. And, they just charged me again! Folks--beware. This gym is a joke and is basically a day care center with an unorganized staff. Most of the facilities are scheduled for youth programs after work. I transferred to Biltmore and even the "adults only" rooftop had kids every 10 ft.. From the mold in the steam room fixtures to the incompetent account team, I would recommend avoiding this gym that sells your their amenities. When they closed during covid, I called to terminate my membership. North Scottsdale has relentlessly reached out to try to get payment from my expired credit card, which I assumed was a mistake since I switched locations. WRONG. They called me and I explained what happened and I told them I had terminated the membership only to get this email 24 hours later: "Your membership was placed on hold in June and was set to reactivate to full access on September 1st - it is now suspended for non-payment. If you wish we can place the membership back on-hold for you and waive a large portion of the past due". Clearly they have no record of my termination, and I have no paperwork since I was unable to cancel in person. Thank goodness my card was expired so that they couldn't charge anymore unauthorized charges. This gym is a joke. read more

Visiting from Sacramento, I found this gym was reopening after being shut down for months(?). The positives: Ample parking, country club style everything. Grand entrance, spa on site, restaurant and cafe (although closed still), tons and tons of machines (all very high-tech and unusual, but in a good way) and weight machines, large cross-fit area, jaw-dropping pools inside and out. Other areas were closed (aerobics room, spin class (?) room, basketball court, and hard to assess, but let's just say the place was impressive. Also, the locker rooms were impeccably clean-- a blow dryer at "every" single sink. Place was spotless inside and out. The gym has gone through extensive COVID-related changes. Masks were required at all times (unless swimming or in showers). They had one guy walking around non-stop telling people if their mask even dropped down a bit from their nose. I appreciate that! setting a standard and creating a "culture" is key when instituting these new measures. There was plenty of sanitation stuff to wipe down machines and I saw most people doing so. The negatives: no hand sanitizer anywhere for guests. If you're going to have stuff to wipe down equipment there should also be hand sanitizer. Those wipes are not meant for routine hand wipes to my knowledge. Also, the most glaring, they charged me $40!!!!! for a 1-day guest past. Ridiculous. That's more than I pay for my monthly membership in Sacramento. Just because it's Scottsdale does not mean guests (who are vulnerable and willing to do a lot to find a place to work out during this heatwave) should be price-gouged. So, a thumbs up, but with an asterisk. read more

UPDATE: I just received an email from Lifetime stating that they will remain open despite the governor's order to close gyms due to the pandemic. They are also encouraging, but not requiring, masks. Lifetime, this behavior is reckless, irresponsible, and downright deadly. Shame on you! Human lives mean more than your bottom line. If I hadn't already submitted my notice, I would definitely do so now. Original Post Love the facility, love the classes. Then Covid hit. The gym was forced to shut down for a while and prorated dues until they reopened. All fine. Shortly after reopening, our governor shut down all gyms again due to a massive outbreak of Covid. This time, Lifetime shut down the fitness floor and all classes (because they had to), but kept the facility open for access to the other amenities. Confirmed with them today that they will still be charging full monthly dues ($100/mo), even though I literally cannot exercise at the gym. I can use the locker room, the pool (which I find unsafe because you can't wear a mask in the water), and you can services like the spa and the cafe (which are not included in the membership fee- the fee only grants ACCESS to those things but doesn't cover the services themselves). The problem here is that I joined a gym to exercise, not go to the spa. When I asked about putting my membership on hold, I was told there was "nothing they could do" about the $15/mo hold fee, even though, once again, I cannot exercise at the gym. So I cancelled, though per their policies I still have to pay for another month (30 day notice required), which would be okay except that I CANNOT EXERCISE AT THE GYM. absolutely feel that Lifetime is taking advantage of its members by charging full dues and lacking flexibility regarding fees for holds and cancellations in the midst of a pandemic. When Covid is finally over, I'm sure plenty of other gyms will be having great signup deals to bolster Covid-blasted membership numbers. I'll take my business elsewhere. read more

I switched my membership from the Village to Lifetime, which I like MUCH better. They have a more pleasant club, better pool area, good staff, more and better equipment, and better cafe (with lower membership fee). I am enjoying my workouts much more now. I think this is the best health club you can find, unless you like those super high-end boutique gyms. read more

The Fitness facility was nice and orderly, but tasty options in cafe were lacking for Vegetarians. There is always an upsell with their gym membership. When I had to cancel due to move, they made it so difficult and they kept charging me. I had to make a special trip there to cancel in person. Reminds me of the Friends episode when they just couldn't cancel their membership. So I haven't recommended this place to anyone I know. And I steer them away if they ever consider. read more

This gym is large, lots of weight equipment and cardio and has everything we need. It is dated but the big frustration is the lack of cleaning of the equipment both on the cardio floor and the weight section. Clearly they never clean the cardio equipment. I'd pay more to have a clean place and for them to maintain their equipment so it all works instead of some machines always out of order. We came from another state and went to a Equinox which was literally spotless. Not the case here. read more

This is a beautiful club that really has everything you could want or need. My home club is a Life Time onyx level club in MN but I travel to Scottsdale fairly often for work so this is perfect for me to visit because my membership allows reciprocity. It is larger, newer and more glitzy than my home club and the one thing that really makes this club stand out for me is that it is open 24 hours/day. That sounds ridiculous but because of my time change jet lag, when I am in AZ, I am usually waking up around 4 am so it is really nice that I can get a work out in early before my day starts. It is tucked into an area behind the high end auto stores on North Scottsdale Road and at that time of the morning, there are never more than about 25 people in the place so there is never a scramble for parking or lines for equipment. I have never been here during daylight hours so I am not sure how busy it gets. Since Scottsdale is the place where silicone, botox/testosterone injections, and anorexia abound with extreme vanity and people don't get to look like that without putting in a lot of time at the gym, I would be surprised if this place is not packed during normal waking hours. I see that others here have posted about rude or disrespectful staff. At 4 am, I have never encountered anyone rude or disrespectful. In fact, I barely encounter anyone at all at that time of the day. I'm just happy to go here in the off hours and have this beautiful place almost all to myself. read more

I mainly use the gym floor which is decent. The color scheme is very dated. I have joined and left this club a few times now for various reasons. For about the past year, the front desk staff and management has been amazing. They acknowledge you and remember your name and are very present..... However some of the trainers have a chip on their shoulder and make you feel very unwelcome. I believe one of them is the training manager and he is one of the worst, so I can see from his leadership where they get it from. I have overheard him making fun of a few members for form and them using specific equipment, I.e. lifting straps, squat pads, etc.. Another one specifically I believe is foreign and maybe it's in his culture, but he is extremely rude to myself and other members I have witnessed. There are a few really nice ones, but unfortunately these others spoil the crop. I do need to mention that the cleanliness of the club is always next level. There are many positives to this health club, but going in everyday and being frowned upon and made fun of my some of the trainers makes me not want to come back. read more

I've been going to this gym for over a month now but I still haven't tried everything they offer yet (such as rock climbing wall, etc). I like this gym better than Mountainside because: 1) it's larger in general (more equipment, more lockers, more showers, and more space in different training areas); 2) indoor + outdoor pools; 3) open 24/7; 4) "team" group training program (a personal trainer tailors the training for a group of 3-10 people for 3 times per week - cheaper than PT sessions but more tailored than other studio classes) There are also the cafe and SPA services. I've got smoothies from the cafe through my app which was super convenient: I ordered on my mobile app before I got into the shower after workout; I could set the pick-up time and pay on my phone; and the smoothie was waiting for me at the cafe counter on my way out of the gym. Great for the morning when you need to rush to work. The only area for improvement for this gym is that the facilities are kind of old (such as the lockers, shower rooms, steam rooms, etc.), so I hope they can get those fixed during the renovation that seems to be coming up. In addition, I wish they can switch to Kiehl's products (from J.R. Watkins) for their shower like Equinox does. read more

We are new to Life Time, and so far we really love it here! We scheduled our personal workouts with Preston, I'm confident he will get my husband and I back in shape in no time! Our fitness goal orientation with Ranae, was amazing! She was so thorough going over our initial results, and was a delight to learn from. She quickly got us a fitness plan, that worked for us, and will ensure us a successful time in the gym! The gym has everything and more! You will definitely not feel deprived of any class or machine to get your fitness level where you want it to be! They even have a spa to work out all those tired muscles! I was really enjoying this gym with my friends until I found out you can only use your guest passes once per person every 60 days apparently. Even though the app clearly states that you can bring two guests once per month... No one told us this prior to becoming members and their app states something different. I will be contacting the gym for a refund if this isn't resolved. And for how much per month this gym is, it certainly shouldn't dictate how I use my 2 guest passes. read more

I've been a member of Life Time Athletics now for several years, beginning in Broomfield Colorado. The Scottsdale AZ location is a wonderful facility. They are open 7x24, just remodeled their locker rooms and added a lot of new equipment. I've been a member of several gyms throughout my life and by far Life Time Athletic is the best! The facilities are clean, staff very professional and equipment well maintained. I would highly recommend trying them out. One last word, they are not cheap, but you get what you pay for. read more

I love this club, the equipment has recently been updated. I never have to wait for a machine. The variety of classes makes it easy to drop in at any time and find one available. Finally lifetime has changed their management post Covid . Prior to covid we used to workout 6 days a week . Walking distance for my family . Absolutely amazing. Covid hit , dur to the lack of Covid regulation with lifetime we decided to cancel . Post Covid a new management took over . It feels now again like home :) they are absolutely amazing ! If I could give them a ZERO i would. I was a founding member at Lifetime. They were getting worse and worse before COVID ... too crowded ... increasing rates .. people getting sick in the gym. Now it is even worse. They treat the members terrible, they over charge and up rates randomly and the service is terrible. Talk about Nickle and dimming your customers. Came out here for a brief stay and they Immedialty change my dues by $90 and then said we will retro back to your old dues when you leave. Nope 20 years I have been a loyal member and they did change to $70 increase when I go back. I will get it resolved but what a horrible experience. Not impressed with the so called concierge service. Walked in and I am Immedialty stopped me and said how long are you in AZ i said for a few weeks and said well we must change your dues and stick it to you. Did not care a bit that I am in AZ dealing with my wife's cancer. Did not care that he could not set my dues back correctly. The bathrooms are dirty and hard to get a good work out, clearly oversold club. Some point we will look for smaller private owned facility. Since they stated getting government Medicare payments for membership they just don't care. read more

Best gym I have joined! Unfortunately, since moving back to central Phoenix, I canceled my membership, since the Biltmore location isn't ready yet. Pros: Open 24/7, except for holidays, close to the 101, amenities!, so many classes, ability to go to other Lifetime locations, easy to join, easy to cancel if needed. Cons: There are additional fees for things like the Pilates with equipment, Alpha classes, and the small group boot camp classes, $100 or 150 a month in addition to the club fees. I joined because I love group exercise classes. They are top notch here, and many instructors who teach here also teach at specialty studios as well. Similar to other spin studios, one can reserve a spot in the cycle studio before coming. There is no penalty if you do not come. Cycle classes fill up especially on Saturday mornings. Other classes that are especially great: Gluteus Maxout, barre, cycle, Hip Hop, Cardio Kickboxing. Since this is an onyx club, one can also go to the Lifetime at Shea & the 101 to attend yoga and barre classes (though Alpha is extra!) I preferred yoga at the Shea and 101 location, since the yoga studio at this Lifetime is small and crowded. The equipment at this gym seems well-maintained. They have so many machines that there is no issue not getting a cardio machine. The weight area can get really crowded though. Amenities! There are showers with shampoo, conditioner, soap, shave cream, towels. The locker rooms also have combo based locks, so no need to deal with a lock and key. There are steam rooms and saunas in the locker rooms. I worked with one of the trainers for a few sessions, Jenn Duffy - and I really liked her approach and technical expertise. Other things I did not use but may be of interest: Life Cafe which has snacks, smoothies, etc., a Peet's Coffee, a spa with hair, nails, and massage services, basketball courts, kids care. There are trainers and a registered dietitian (RD) for additional fees. One thing I do not like - and this is not anyone specific, I think this is a Lifetime thing. When a new member has his/her free training meeting with a trainer, they totally just focus on weight and body fat percentage without even asking first if that is what the person wants. I was more interested in learning how to lift correctly. read more

This is the premier Life Time facility in AZ. It's gorgeous inside. It's a MEGA fitness center - if you haven't been to it and are looking to join an upscale establishment - check it out. THEY ARE OPEN 24 HOURS A DAY!!! This is huge - any day any time - now that is having options! Their customer service team and on-boarding trainers are great. I'll give a shout out recommendation to Tony "Stark" R. - he's the man I recommend you go see. To prefix - I've belonged to 7 different gyms/athletic clubs in AZ. I do maintain another membership for convenience. If you are a Cardio Nut - I have NOT been to a gym in AZ that has more cardio equipment - you will be in heaven - lots of variety and if you are not tied to a particular machine - you will not have to wait. If you are a swimmer - they have excellent pools (in and out). You will love it. If you like Yoga - they have an excellent staff here. I have gotten into Yin by recommendation by one of the trainers - their staff for this particular practice are amazing (better than LifePower in my opinion/experience). Trainers - they have the best in town (or lets say some of the best in town - overall as a team definitely the best). Basketball - they have 2 full courts well kept and a league. Great Kids club - I see kids run to the doors to get in there - so the 2 hours a day you get - your kids will enjoy their time as you enjoy yours. If your a weight lifter - for the size of this place, they honestly don't have more equipment (free weights or machines) than most other gyms. If this is all you want to do here, lift and leave, then I'd suggest you go somewhere else. Racquetball Players - they have 2 courts - not in the best shape and they don't feel official in terms of size - could be the lighting - there are other gyms that have better courts and more of them. The locker rooms are excellent and have several amenities/toiletries/towels (sauna and steam rooms). This is a huge plus for me. Group Fitness Classes - they do have many - I've just not taken any so I cant speak to those. Rock Climbing - that's a very cool option to have! On site cafe and Spa (definitely handy). The only downside on the Spa is they don't seem to post prices or keep them consistent (different prices for different staff). The cafe used to run daily $5 meal deals that were awesome - they just bumped it to $7 - so I stick to the regular menu now - expect to wait on your order, they tend to be a bit slow sometimes. There are 2 massage chairs too - members aren't supposed to stay in a chair for more than one session, so when that's respected, your odds are good to get into one of them. If you take advantage of the amenities here - its well worth the $ tag if you are in a fair commute distance. I definitely recommend this location. P.S. You can add LifePower (Shea/101) for a minimal $ that gives you another location for Yoga and basic training/cardio equipment that's nearby. read more

I had a great workout session, but as I was leaving Rob's energy wasn't right. He came off an unwelcoming and it made me feel uncomfortable.

Full disclosure: I worked here for a few months teaching dance in the kids department. I stopped for reasons outside of this club (read: it was an awesome place to work!) There is plenty of equipment - one of the cleanest gyms around. The pool area is exception with indoor and outdoor lanes and hot tubs. There are plenty of classes to take. The personal trainers are always available for session but aren't too pushy about their services if you're not interested. I'm not sure if Frank still works there (kids program director) but he was a phenomenal leader and always had everyone's best interest in mind. The cafe has some plant-based options (smoothies, bars, snacks) and they also offer services like massages. Worth the membership! read more

This gym really does have it all! The price is a little scary (yes, I pay over $100/month for a gym membership). But, here's the bottom line: I GO TO THE GYM! The high quality of classes, equipment, and amenities make me WANT to work out. My favorite part of the gym is the individual Direct TV access mounted to cardio equipment. This keeps my ass on the equipment for worthwhile amounts of time! The only downside I see to the this place is the "sales pitches" that the staff gives new members. There are also some other pushy tactics involved with a membership like that stupid magazine subscription and email spams. So I am writing this in regards to the Lap Pools. If you are an adult who swims laps and wants to do this after work what I am going to write should be no surprise. You have probably encountered this at Lifetime North Scottsdale (Phoenix) another Lifetime or another gym. The pool has A LOT of youth swim teams and if you get off work and get to the gym like many after work and want to swim you will have very few lanes if any (and splitting lanes most people there don't get). The gym rents out essentially all the lanes to the swim teams which starts before 4pm and goes till around 7pm Monday through Friday. I've heard they practice in the mornings but I'm never there. The outside pool the high school age takes usually all but one of the lanes and then when they are done around 5 goes into the indoor pool to cool off taking up those lanes and at 5:30 another team starts in the outdoor and one in the indoor. Please beware if you are going to sign up for this gym and want to swim it's almost impossible being the gym is more interested in it's paid youth program than members being able to utilize the pool. Swimming laps is really the main reason I go there being it has a lot of lanes however I can rarely get a lane or a lane for a decent amount of time due to having to fit in between the classes. I even swim on one side of the lane so if there's another person they can swim on the other side of the lane. Additionally if you'd like to swim Saturday mornings you better get up early because by 7:45am the teams swim for two to four hours. The gym is very nice the cost is kind of a lot for the towels and all could be a bit cleaner in the restrooms and increase ventilation but still a very nice facility. I know my complaint will go nowhere because I am just one member and if conversing with the staff they will have no response because the monthly cost each kid brings in. The members like me that want to swim the majority of the time going to the gym is a very small amount so I'm not really the person they are concerned about. Gym is nice but staff is extremely irritable, in particular Chase was very rude. Shame I had to cancel my membership.

Stacey, Sarah, Erin, and Melanie are amazing class instructors. For me going to the gym shops be fun and challenging. These ladies make their class this way. If you want a tight, strong body take one of their classes! You can use any weight that challenges you and they'll advise you on proper form. ‍ read more

This is the most beautiful gym facility. They haven't skimped or left anything out. The amenities are more than worth it. Child care, cafe, 4 basketball courts, 3 pools (heated year round), an amazing diverse schedule of fitness classes, amazing trainers walking the floor if u have questions, indoor rock wall climbing, racket & handball, saunas, jacuzzis, hair salon, massage therapy, an endless amount of activities for the children, etc. You must experience for yourself. read more
