I'll start out by saying that this is, in every way, a premium fitness club. I've been a member for about a month now and there's a ton of stuff I haven't had the chance to go try yet like the pool, spa, rock wall or all the free classes you get. I won't talk about those though since I haven't tried them yet. What I will talk about is the training. Unlike all the other clubs around here Lifetime actually has a registered dietitian on staff. That means they actually help you figure out how to fix all the internal stuff as well as guide you through the exercise side of things. I was even able to go through them for a lot of diagnostic blood test stuff, followed by consultations with their dietitian, that made a huge difference in the results I was seeing. As someone who's lost quite a bit of weight I can tell you the nutrition side of things is absolutely necessary. Overall everything about my time in the club has reinforced in my mind that they are 100% focused on getting me (and everyone else who walks in there) real results and have the science and tools to do it. Even without all the other amenities, that alone has spoiled me to the point where I don't think I'd be happy at any other club. You're going to pay more at Lifetime, but you'll never get what they offer from anywhere else. read more

I really enjoy working out (is that an oxymoron?) at Lifetime. The convenience of being able to exercise any time is fantastic. I have been there many nights past 10, which allows me to set up one of the group class rooms with a bench and weights. One of my favorite classes is Strike, a really tough, but fun, cardio/kickboxing class. If you can, take the Monday night class with Holly....she will kick your fat cells. TERRIBLE! Think before you join. I joined Life Time many years ago. I called to cancel my membership several months ago. After that, they started sending harassing emails threatening to send me to collections if I didn't pay them. I've called the club as well as the corporate offices to ask them to stop harassing me. I've sent multiple emails. I was finally told that I needed to come in to the club to cancel and that phone calls and emails did not count. I finally got so tired of being harassed, that I paid their extortion fee even though I haven't been there in months. Please think carefully before you join. I do not have an actual membership to Lifetime, but I came here with one of my friends using her guest pass. I loved the gym, but we had a really hard time being able to use the guest pass and it made us almost miss our class. Me, my friend and her mom were all going to take a barre class and when we went inside, they were asking us all for all of our IDs, not just mine which I thought was a little odd, and were unable to let my friend use her guest pass with me. My friend only had her Canadian ID because that is where she lives full time and the woman wouldn't accept it for some reason. The woman at the front counter was also quite rude to my friend and her mom, who have been going to that gym for years. A manager ended up getting involved and my friend's mom ended up letting us go up ahead of her and she sorted it out when we were away, but my friend's mom was quite angry at the situation. Concerning the physical gym, I absolutely loved it. It has everything you could ever need and there is such a wide range of types of equipment to use. The classes are free with membership and they have classes going on constantly and, again, a wide range of things to do with them. I personally loved the barre class that we took. It was the right amount of difficulty where you could join no matter if you are a beginner or a former dancer. There are multiple saunas, one of them had essential oils in it and the others were regular. It felt like a more luxury experience, with showers and very nice locker rooms available. I would like to get a membership at some point because this is the type of gym that you never want to leave! read more

I have been a Lifetime Fitness member for 4 years, and only wish it was closer to my house (that's the reason I give for not going every day!). But to say that I'm willing to drive past 4 other gyms to get there, should tell you something! I love taking my family here when they come to visit--they pay almost twice as much for a grungy gym on the East coast and are so jealous when they see all the amenities here! My absolute favorite part of this gym are the group fitness classes. I have tried a wide variety of them and always leave feeling like I just had a great workout. The instructors are friendly and very knowledgeable and they always make you feel comfortable, even when you are grapevining in the opposite direction as the rest of the class! I also want to point out that the free weight area is generally NOT a meathead-central kind of area as it can be at some gyms. Due to moving around a bit, I have belonged to about 10 different gyms. At some I have honestly been intimidated to step into the free weight area--not at Lifetime! If you want it (hot tub, sauna, steam room, climbing wall, etc.), Lifetime has it. But try a fitness class or two--you won't be disappointed! read more

I have had enough at this place where I have been a member for 11+ years. There are constantly things not working in the women's locker room, primarily the steam room. Get the stupid thing to work consistently. That is the reason I belong to Lifetime Fitness. I don't care if it workd for somebody earlier today or blah blah blah excuse that I get. I care that it works when I push the button, and it usually doesn't, and that is not acceptable. You have a lot of competition and I am shopping. read more

Love the group classes here. The teachers are fun, energetic, and challenges you. The yoga teachers here are as good or better than some of the Yoga studios. Price is a bit on the high end especially since I don't use the other amenities as much like pool, sauna, cafe, or spa. They offer special events periodically which is fun and free. read more

I'm only giving this one star because there isn't an option for zero. We are a military family and received immediate orders, lifetime made the cancellation process the worst I've ever experienced. We signed up, paid $200+ to start our membership, called to cancel less than 24 hours later and they not only refused to refund us our money, but gave us a huge run around. In the midst of trying to pack up our entire house to make an international move in two short weeks. They get back to me and tell me the only reason they could refund us is if my husband is being deployed. Then they say there's no way to cancel without coming into the club, mind you, we are on the opposite side of the country at this point. So we're being charged for yet another month of service when the service was literally never used and I called to cancel less than 24 hours after the membership was made. I'm pretty sure it's against Ohio's law to do any of this, this gym has no respect for it's military families and they will rob you whenever they can. I was previously a long time member of this gym, and I will NEVER be back. read more

I am an out of towner that called this Lifetime Fitness in advance to inquire about the possibility of having my family acquire a day pass so that we could use the facilities for the day. I was happily surprised when I was informed on the phone by one of the associates that we would receive complimentary day passes and all I needed to do was stop by the front desk to fill out a waiver. However, when I arrived a few days later, the lady at the front desk said that she couldn't give us these complimentary day passes and wanted to charge us $20/per person (so a total of $80). Obviously, my next reaction was to ask to speak to the gentleman who spoke to me over the phone but she told me that there was "no one" for me to talk to at the moment." You expect me to believe that you're the only staffer involved in sales/membership in the entire facility? This was on Saturday 8/20 in the early evening. Even if 1) that's truly the case and 2) the $20/per person is indeed the official policy, the fact that I was told over the phone that the day passes were free and that my family drove all the way there from our hotel should be enough for any good business to let us in for free. It's a gym not a restaurant so the marginal cost of having an extra four people is virtually $0. So here's the rationale for the one-star review: 1) Please tighten up your day pass policy so that a consistent message is delivered. 2) If two different messages are delivered, please default to the message that benefits the consumer simply out of the inconvenience of driving there and showing up with a completely different expectation. read more

this brand new lifetime fitness is a gold level club (aka $60 monthly dues). i get to sport my platinum (BLING BLING!) membership card since i also use the platinum columbia, md facility. if you visit multiple clubs, you have to pay the highest membership fee. watch out for the upcoming potomac/rockville lifetime fitness ... ONYX level! you'll have to shell out $120/month. ouch. back to the mason, ohio lifetime...standard lifetime facility except that it has an indoor turf field! we used this facility during the winter when it was too cold to kick a soccer ball or throw a football around. if you're on a running program, you can run some sprints without having to bear the cincinnati winter. their sauna and steam room are .... not up to par. same layout as the other lifetimes, but the temperature is not turned up as high. go into the dry sauna, and you'll observe that it is 15 degrees cooler than it should be. also the steam room....the air pushed into the room is at a constant low pressure, is not hot enough, and does not have enough eucalyptus. busy! the parking lot is full if you arrive anytime between 6:00-6:30pm on weekdays. watch out for the open houses (there are MANY since it is a new club), it gets crowded on saturdays too. if you're heading to lifetime using I-71, avoid the traffic on mason-montgomery road, by turning left onto fields ertl road and then a right on wilkens blvd. take it all the way to the gym with only two stop-signs! read more

Four years of loyal membership. Each year the prices would increase, and yet i never complained once, even though i knew my friends had lower rates. But now when I try to cancel my membership, they tell me I have to do it one of two ways. In person or by mail. First off, what kind of backward policy is that? Why can i not send an email or simply cancel over the phone? The reason I needed to cancel the membership was because I moved away from Cincinnati to New York. There was no way I could be there in person, and if I had sent a letter, by the time it would have reached lifetime, I would have gotten (and just now got charged for) another month of membership. I shared this frustration with the woman on the phone and she said that I could fax a letter...still backwards but i agreed. Tried faxing with the number they provided, but the fax failed to send once, twice and three times. Unacceptable as this was, I had one option left. I asked my old roommate to print out a scanned copy of a letter that i had written and to take it to lifetime. Felt terrible to ask but this way I could know for sure that the letter would be delivered and when it was delivered so that there could be no excuse for lifetime to charge me for another month. Roommate goes to drop off the letter and the front deck says that they are unable to accept letters that do not come from the mail. Are you serious lifetime?!?! Think about what you are f***ing saying. I had my roommate take the time from his day and the gas from his car to drive out there and personally drop off the letter as a courtesy and you just s*** on his face? Ball is in your court lifetime. I would like a refund for this month and last month because i obviously wouldn't even be able to use your gym if I wanted to and a formal apology. This situation was handled so poorly, and further action should be taken to amend your backward policies. Policies that were built to prey on situations like mine so you can charge an extra month. This is a nice gym that has a lot of great qualities BUT... There are a few complaints that they don't seem to address very well. #1, They charge 2-3x more money per month compared to other gyms in the area.. #2, Anytime you go to play basketball, they are flat or literally have 10 different bumps on them. You would think for the price you pay you could at least get a basketball. #3, When the rim gets broke, it takes 4-6 weeks to replace it. My question is why?? they could go to Dick's sporting gym behind them and buy a rim that same day and install it within 24-48 hours. I'll add some more tips for their corporate office in a few days. On 7/31/18, it did not matter to Jessica V. Assistant administrator of the Life Spa at Lifetime Fitness in Deerfield, Ohio that I was a long-term member of the Lifetime family deserving of good customer service. I was highly referred to the Lifetime Spa by another staffer for helpful services. On completion of that 90 min service, I rescheduled another date. At that point I was asked, "Are you going to leave a tip? "She commented," It is proper etiquette to leave a tip. " Going forward you will need to do that!" I was shocked at this comment as my belief is that, "tipping is based on service ,it is not a requirement." This terrible example of poor customer service and rude behavior is unacceptable and inappropriate. A repeat of this customer service action toward the public would be nothing short of harassment and bullying. This is hands down the best gym in the area! They have everything: cardio equipment galore, lots of space for free weights and machines and a turf field. The staff has always been friendly and everything I've tried in the cafe has been excellent. The pool is perfect for the warm months (kids aren't overwhelming!) and massage therapist, Joe and Tracy has been great. read more

The first thing I thought of when I worked out at Life Time Fitness was "Is this a resort?" A resort minus the living arrangements is basically what Life Time Fitness is (at least this particular location). They have a spacious indoor and outdoor pool, basketball courts, yoga, pilates, and stretching rooms; fitness classes, and of course, a solid weightlifting area with a variety of free weights and exercise machines for all sorts of gym enthusiasts. Unlike most fitness centers, Life Time didn't shove the whole generic "no judgements" slogan down my throat and it gave off the vibe that people just came to workout and didn't give a crap about what others thought. People were focused on themselves, bettering their bodies, and living healthy. That's what it's about for both the casual and regular gym-goer. Overall Life Time Fitness is a great place to workout and do recreational activities and is well worth the membership fee. However, I will say their guest policy is kind of crap so if a buddy doesn't have a membership, have fun working out with them only once a month at Life Time. read more

LifeTime is an awesome awesome gym! I received a guest pass to go, and of course have been using it up! The classes are very good and professional, and there is a TON of equipment to use! Very spacious, everything from the actual gym to the locker rooms. Everyone that I talked to was very friendly and willing to help. So I've been a member of Lifetime for about almost 2 years I would say... well I won't be returning and here is why: Today, I brought my son in to swim as well as my visitors, which were my sister and friend who live close to Downtown Cincinnati. As I entered the building and showed my card to the lady at the front desk (red hair and huge muscles) she was really rude and nasty. As I told her I would have 2 visitors she rolled her eyes and phoned Victoria to come out. Victoria was nice, but we felt like we were being interrogated just to go enjoy the pool! Mind you I pay almost 200$ monthly for this gym, and I never have guests! This has been the second time I've brought anyone with me! And if I want to bring guests I will for how much I pay for the price! Well, that wasn't the worst part- we finally get changed and go to the pool, and most of the staff (lifeguards, managers, etc.) sit around with a smug on their faces and don't even do their job. Half of the stuff is closed and overpriced. They say be within 10 ft of your child, but then one lifeguard had the nerve to get in this little boys face and scold him as his mom was swimming right next to him. Most parents know what their child is capable of and they always have a watchful eye. The only thing I've ever seen them do is say "walk" as they sit and gossip. We did not feel welcomed at all. The staff is rude, they overcharge their prices, and what other place do you know scolds children in front of their parents who are in the water with them!? And then the older lady who works there, which I'm guessing management??? She has the nerve to come up to me and tell me I need to be in the water with my son, when the sign says I need to be within 10 ft away from my son. I tell her we won't be back because of how rude the staff is, and she just proceeds to say oh well I am sorry to hear that and walks away to gossip to the lifeguard beside me. If you actually cared about your customers, then this isn't the way you do it! I wouldn't go here if I was looking for a gym! They fool you into thinking they are a nice friendly staff, but have the worst intentions on getting you after you sign up!!! You have no reason to treat your customers rude and nasty! Especially children who come to swim and have a good time!!!! Btw I will let people know not to join such a rude and nasty place!! I love lifetime. However, not for the gym or the pool or any of that. All I do when I go there is climb at the rock wall. I love the atmosphere in the rock wall and it keeps me fit and coming back. Cody, Derek, AJ, Zack, and John are amazing employees and have definitely taken me to the next level in climbing. I went from struggling on jugs to loving crimps and finger pockets. To be honest, I haven't even seen the upstairs of lifetime in months because all I do is climb. I do have an issue though, and that's with the hours. As much as I love the rock wall, it's barely ever open when I have time to go, for only two-ish hours a day. It would be a dream come true to see the wall open 24/7, or at least longer than only 2 or three hours on the weekdays. It's a bit better on the weekend but I never have time due to work. If lifetime could increase hours on the rock wall, I would basically live there, and it's the only thing holding me back from giving them a 5 star. Cmon lifetime! read more

I was a member several years ago but had to leave because of a change in employment. Another change and I'm back, and it's as great as before. The staff are all friendly. They have an excellent selection of equipment (although I have occasionally had to wait for the leg press machine). The locker rooms are spacious and clean. My only real complaint is the music in the locker rooms. Every now and then they get to playing the same playlist every day in the same order and at the same time. When it happens, it can drive me insane. Update: We've gone for several months without the music issue. I'm in heaven. read more

I was a member of Lifetime fitness since 2010. I recently moved to Tampa, FL and came in at the end of April to cancel my membership. They were unable to help me in person because "the person who does this wasn't there" said the teenager at the desk. I moved and sent a certified letter as instructed, but I didn't send it "on time" per their guidelines and policies and am now being charged $120 for a gym I can't use. I have been passed between 1-800 numbers, voicemails at the club, and e-mails with no resolution. As a customer since 2010 I have spent thousands of dollars at this club. All I was asking for was a $120 charge to be dropped. Eventually I ended up talking to Tina who did a whole lot of talking and not a lot of listening. I know they have the ability to waive this fee so I don't believe her that she can't. She said I could talk to the general manager but "she is out on leave." How convenient. If I ever move near a Lifetime fitness again, I will not even consider it an option to join as they have terrible customer service. Yes, I am at "fault" for not mailing my letter on time, but sorry, I was moving to Ohio to Florida and going to the post office to mail Lifetime a certified letter was not the first thing on my priority list. Way to go Lifetime, you lost a customer over $120 and hopefully others will see the truth about your gym as well. read more

If you DO NOT have kids this is a great gym! It is clean, the towel service is awesome and it isn't lacking any equipment or class options. The classes available are plenty and diverse, you won't have trouble finding one that fits your needs. Now, I have kids. The pool area is nice and very large. BUT you have to go in with your children to swim. This is a great rule for safety but other pools (like the Mason Community center) have more lifeguards on staff and you can let them swim and watch from the side (assuming your kids are old enough and strong enough swimmers to do so). The family change room has six stalls and two restrooms. All the stalls have ample room to change and a shower. It's very nice actually, so nice that those without children like to use the family showers because they are very private. Every other time I visit with my children I wait for a stall and out comes a single adult. It is so aggravating when the kids are freezing, your waiting to change and out comes an adult. I have complained about this, yet the staff still gives single adults locker keys to the family room. I do not think they are taking the safety of the children seriously enough. Adults need not hang out in the family change room without children. Also if you miss a swim lesson the policy is you need to have a dr's note or give 24 hours notice to get to have a make up class. My kids were sick the day of a lesson but, because it was the same day I was out of luck. Swim lessons run $60 per child a month. Other swim schools (bear paddle for example) will allow one make up class every few months. This discourages parents bringing ill kids, keep everyone healthy. I hope Life Time changes this policy and considers that with kids, things happen. Also, we haven't experienced the same swim teacher week to week. I think its hard to judge progress with such turnover. While we use the gym for other things then the pool , the pool and swimming as a family are very important to us, so Life Time is no longer the gym for us. read more

Lifetime Fitness is definitely the nicest big box gym in the greater Cincinnati area. I feel like my vote counts a little bit more than most others since I am the head trainer at another smaller personal training only facility in the city. Take it for what it's worth but the personal training here would be low on the priority list of reasons to join. If you are in need of some serious work, or have complicated injuries that need to be worked into what your goals are, then you need to seek out someone with more professional qualifications. However , I enjoyed lifetime for a variety of reasons. I will start with the restaurant , or Cafe. It is incredibly convenient and the choices are impressively healthy , grass-fed protein powder for the smoothies, plenty of low carb choices as well as gluten-free choices comma very little in the way of gimmicky typical stuff. The made-to-order entrees and salads are amazing. The indoor and outdoor pool are the primary reasons we joined for our kids. You also get two hours a day of child care in the Kids Academy which also offers a robust schedule of very good quality classes and athletic skill type stuff that all add up to be fun for the kids but also great foundational physiological activities. I would say it takes a lot to impress me at the gym, and lifetime definitely impresses me, but again to come full circle please understand what attracts me to the gym is perhaps not what attracts the average person comma but the equipment is at least good enough that I can get in my non-serious workouts comma which would add up to be more than enough in the way of needs for equipment for the average person who is not a competitive powerlifter. read more

I used to belong to this gym back couple years ago before I moved out of the area. Then I move back and wanted to join again because I remembered it being a positive experience. However, they jacked up the price, my email gets bombarded with Spam and they send you stuff that you really don't want just to justify the cost. I can't afford it anymore because I recently got into a bad car accident and I don't have the time to come here because I work way too much. So when I came in to cancel my membership they made me wait an excessive amount of time. Funny because they would likely trample a cripple to start someone on a new membership. I personally wouldn't recommend this place unless you have a ton of disposable income and could afford to be raped monthly. read more

We joined Lifetime in Mason after relocating to the area. The best way to describe this facilty would be to say it is like a "coconut", brown on the outside and white on the inside. The facility looks nice on the outside and the member services team all act nice and friendly when they are giving you the facility tour right before you join. However, once that is done you can forget about receiving customer service from the members services team or their management, which is by far the worse I have come across in this business. Parents pretty much use Lifetime fitness to dump their kids here and get on with their social life. As a result, there is a large number of kids screaming, running and gettign in your way. The outdoor and indoor pools were consistently shut during the summer because kids used the pools as their personal toilet. Lifetime neither fined nor disciplined the culprits and when management was contacted they simply said "this happens everywhere". My friends and I have been members at many facilities and this does not repeatedly happen at facilities of this standard, although all I have observed at this location is the lack standards. The steam rooms aren't very clean and people walk in them with shoes! They treat guests you take with you like common criminals unless they wish to join the gym that day. There is woman caller "Teri" in the member services who thinks she owns the franchise, she is rude, disrespectful and incompetent. They refuse to improve the facility or better train their staff (member services + management) and their answer to almost anything remains "it happens everywhere". They have previously cancelled pick up basket ball games and this week they cancelled pick up soccer games which only takes place once a week to start with becuase somebody had a small scuffle. Instead of even trying to deal with the only 2 individuals involved (out of about 30) they decided to ban every one of us from using the turf. When we asked to speak to the manager (Sharon) we were told by Teri that she was unavailable. She was apprehensive and kept coming up with various excuses to justify their decision. Apparantly our kids (members who play soccer) run around the whole club unattended when the wide majority of us don't even have kids. When we told this woman that we told have kids, she replied by saying "oh yes you all have kids"! Then she went on to accuse the whole group which includes doctors, lawyers,businessmen, and executives of letting people in through the wire exits! Moreover, when we told her that ww will be cancelling our membership she stated that "corporate" does not care about these members and she'd be happy to cancel our memberships. She was also adamant that lifetime was a family place and the astro turf was just there for the kids to kick the ball around and basically stated that this place is primarily for children and if you happen to be an adult then you're sheer out of luck. Additionally, parking is always a challenge. I would not recommend this particular facility to anyone and most of us will be cancelling our membership in January. We're also writing to their CEO to let him know how unclassy and worthless this facility is in Mason. read more

So, I have taken a guest with me to lifetime fitness in mason oh two times and what a pain it was! Each of my guest were treated like a criminal! Paperwork, drivers license, tons of questions! Had to wait on a supervisor to check us in after all that, then it started over! Instead of using he paperwork to type everything in the computer they ask all the same question of my guest then typed it in! Seriously! I'm a member and they reminded me over and over that I could only bring guest so many times, by now my guest feel like their doing something wrong! How embarrassing! I've been a member since this location opened and I've invited someone 2 maybe 3 times! I understand safety and wanting to know who's in the building but your burning bridges with potential future members! I joined because I wanted to belong to a classy gym that offered lots for kids, I will never bring anyone again because of how you treat people, you are far from classy, I think everyone acts like they think their a slight bit above anyone who walks in the door! Wake up and figure out how to balance the rules and customer service! There are other places to work out and swim! read more
