We wanted to continue this once we returned to Houston, but we didn't want to find a studio with 30+ students and the Pilates classes at our current gym didn't give us any feedback on whether we were doing the positions/moves correctly. We turned to yelp for help :) We were looking for the following in a studio to supplement our gym membership: 1) small classes 2) personal attention 3) encouraging and attentive teachers This studio has all 3 of these things, but it's not limited to Pilates! They have yoga and cycling classes that meet the above three requirements too! We've only been members since October, but we look forward to our weekly classes. What's really nice is the class feels tailored to us. My husband and I have different bodies (height, strength, flexibility, etc), and the teachers really adapt to us! They'll change certain routines to ensure each student is getting the most of the session. It's a great personalized experience, and your body will thank you. I've already noticed better posture and just awareness of how I hold myself when doing everyday things at home or at work. What a neat find - thank you, yelpers!

The yoga studio is spacious, with floor-to-ceiling windows on the left side of the room that let in the beautiful morning light. Colorful lights and music throughout the space created a pleasant atmosphere for our practice. They also have clean lockers and restrooms, including showers. Free lockers are available to secure your belongings during class, too. This morning's class was taught by Eugenia Davis, who was warm with a bright smile. When I go to this location, I park in the parking garage or parallel to the empty lot across the street on Fannin, where street parking is free. I was never in pain nor made to get into some position that would hurt. I enjoyed the stretching, the studio is kept at the right temperature, and the materials are all in excellent condition. My knees were hurting when I walked into class, but relief came tumbling in as soon as class began. I woke up this morning (the day after class) feeling incredible!! The Restore class focuses on deep stretches using blocks, pillows and straps. Zevi disclosed that he's a nurse by profession and that he's a "nerd" when it comes to the body and how it functions, which gave me confidence that he would lead us in the right direction. Sure enough, he did! This was definitely a very beginner-friendly class and we felt welcomed from start to end. While my boyfriend (who attended with me) and I aren't new to yoga, we were new to a few of Zevi's techniques and found them to be very effective and practical. Thanks for an awesome first class! They have different options to buy your classes, drop-in, 10'classes or membership, in my opinion the membership is the best option. Certain instructors and classes can be packed and even with a large space, you may have to stagger a bit for certain poses. However, all attendees have been super considerate and I've never felt judged or unwelcome. This location has a juiceland as well, where you can order ahead and have a refreshing treat waiting for you after class. It's easy to schedule online and check in at the front desk every time as well. Note that they're donation based but online the minimum I've found for single classes is $12. You can select a monthly membership as well. There are other locations in Montrose and the Heights and instructors can float between locations, so even if Kirby isn't convenient for you, there are options.
