Interesting location, the staff was friendly and different from the troy location, it has three floors, there is an interesting cafe when you first walk in , it has a cozy looking atmosphere, kind of dark inside, I didn't have a chance to try any of the cardio equipment, it was just a quick visit, one day I'll enquire if they still do guess passes, I miss 24 hours but this location has always been just until midnight and it was my first time Visiting this one. I recently visited a Life Time in Coral Cables while on vacation had an incredible experience. As a result of the amazing experience at the Coral Gables location, I decided to make visiting Life Time a monthly occasion for me until I commit to a membership. I visited the Life Time location in Bloomfield, Michigan on Saturday, July 8th for a day of massages and relaxation. A friend purchased massages for us both to enjoy. As I waited on the friend, I inquired on the timing of the massages as I was under the impression massages were 30 mins. As an fyi, timing wasn't an issue and didnt mind that the friend's massage went over time. I only inquired on the timing as I planned to participate in another activity and didn't want to miss the masseuse (Cassie) if I ventured off to do another activity. Cassie was absolutely wonderful by the way. The receptionist at the front desk of the spa (I did not get her name however she has two tone hair that appears to be gray and purple) started to speak to me in slang when answering my question. She stated that my friend booked two sessions and "that's all she can tell me" and "that's all she knows" while throwing up hand gestures. As I tried to explain to her that there is 2 of us and both sessions are 1 of each, she just kept going back and forth with me while speaking in slang and odd hand gestures. I obviously took the way she spoke to me as her having a preconceived notion about me. The woman was aggressive and she refused to speak to me in proper English, yet I observed her behavior before and after the encounter and she miraculously became professional again towards other clients. I feel that her mannerisms towards me were hostile, insulting and felt she was mocking me as I am a woman of color. Cassie (masseuse) took me back after the encounter and I confided in her. She helped me relax and was the best part of this entire ordeal. Also, judging from other reviews on Google, mistreatment due to ethnicity seems to be the norm at this location. I will do everything I can to get the word out about this location and the receptionist I had the displeasure of interacting with. I only wished I would have recorded the incident. Her actions towards me were not only unprovoked, but aggressive, evil and hateful. My friend has been a LifeTime member for years and she introduced me to the gym and I am interested in becoming a member as a result. It saddens me that an employee can practice micro-aggressions on paying customers, member or not. Very disappointing and hurtful to say the least. I only hope the spa employee does not treat any unsuspecting guests the same way. To harbor hatred for a demographic and act on it with aggression is unacceptable especially when this employee represents Life Time as a brand. read more

I did not need to pay more and he's so wrong for telling someone they can't work out there after originally setting me up being an account manager and giving me no other option but to pay more. It's a good thing I don't settle for people who tell me no or think they know it all. Lifetime needs to train him on some customer service and know his position and how to handle things. I think I'm done with all Lifetime gyms. Was a member at Troy since 2001. It was great initially, but got progressively dirtier and neglected. Moved to Bloomfield location expecting the high price of the place to correct this. It is cleaner, but for $150/month, it is still neglected as well. Steamer and sauna littered with dirty towels and empty water bottles, etc. Weekends are especially bad. The club also has a lot of nice members and staff. But it also has a lot of pushy members who use multiple machines in a circuit and expect you to wait for them to finish all of them before letting you use one. This probably wouldn't be a problem if they had more than 2 bench presses and only 1 Smith machine. I go to a gym to relax and de stress. This place is not that. I can't believe I paid so much for so little for so long!!! Ugh!! read more

Modern, clean gym with massage, amenities, juice bar, several pools, indoor and out. They even have a few rowers ( Concept 2 type) that I love and don't often find. Lots of treadmills, bikes, ellipticals, good weight room. No track though. I miss that. I fall off of treadmills . I was very impressed by locker rooms and aqua facilities with whirlpools and sauna's. They even have extractors to remove water from your suit before you leave. They also have Pilates and other workout programs. This is an elegant place and a joy to visit. Plenty of free parking too. read more

After drama and disdain at my former gym, I needed a replacement. Fast. They are a little pushy with the trainers. I did take a smaller trainer led class to try it out, and I really really liked it. But the price point, after spending a lot/month already is a bit outrageous. The cafe is nice, but the drinks are pricey. $8 for a smoothie? Maybe not. The equipment seems clean, up to date and there is a lot of it. Classes on the second floor, equipment on the third. Showers are nice, water is a little all over the place with the temperature. But good pressure. I wanted a place with good showers and free coffee. Hey, it is the only thing that motivates me to go. Didn't quite get that, but overall I am pleased. Month to month too - I love that. Don't notice the lines at the showers or in the parking lot because I go at 5 am. read more

Very disappointed every time I've gone here. They are understaffed and the parking lot is small for a busy lifetime fitness club. They do a decent job of keeping the equipment up to date and clean and the facility is well kept as well but honestly they are lacking in customer service and waiting times for the equipment which makes training frustrating. I'd prefer to go to lesser gyms that have better staff and get my workout I need without all the extra's lifetime has to offer. They are way over priced for the services you receive. I didn't mind paying for the extras back when I started because they always took good care of me and my family but lots has appears fly changed. Waiting on showers, waiting on equipment, waiting for better staffing and customer service all lead me to a pass on going back and a cancelation of my membership. :( read more

Excellent work out place. I joined recently after having a knee operation and after my physical therapy was over, as I thought to continue the therapy there on my own for a few months. Now, I plan to keep my membership indefinetly. Place very spacious, a lot of machines and equipments, nice sauna hot room and hot tub. Beautiful pool and great cafe with excellent service. My only observation for improvement: I wish not most T.V. channels there focused on basketball. Hockey and golf are also very popular in this town and I wish they include the NHL channel and the Golf channel in their T.V. programming, and also to reduce the TVs dedicated to advertisments. read more

Their spinning classroom is better than any other that I have seen before. I've been working out here almost since it opened. The facility is soooo nice!!! Everyone who works here is also so welcoming and nice! I've enjoyed working out at Lifetime since I've joined. I've noticed that some of the class times aren't as convenient in the summer as i would have liked. Also, the price has gone up since I've joined. This was sad because I already pay a lot to be a member. I went to put my account on hold the other day, the lady said the only charge I would get is a $20 hold fee. I was then charged an extra $10 to switch my account to hold. This was never mentioned. I also did not realize there was a month notice to hold your account, so now I have an extra month to pay( even though I won't be using it). That annoyed me a lot. This lifetime is more expensive than competitors in the same area, especially with an Equinox gym getting built down the street. It will be interesting if I decide to stay or not. I love lifetime, and one of the features that stands out to me the most is the life cafe. I have been a member since this location first opened and unfortunately in recent years I've noticed a huge decline in the quality and variety of the life cafe offerings. They once offered veggie burgers, meal prepped salmon and beyond burgers, but now I see a drastically reduced and limited menu. This makes it difficult as someone who takes my training seriously and also has a pescatarian / vegetarian diet. I hope they will add back in the items they took out! read more

I am very pleased with my membership at this club. I love how the steam room, whirlpool and sauna are all in the locker room. All are extremely clean ALL THE TIME!! Was looking to minimize my contact with large crowds and this club is perfect. I go in the early morning and have the steam room to myself. I am primarily a runner and mostly use the club for swimming and the steam/whirlpool. It's perfect for what I'm looking for. Also a benefit, there are primarily adults at this club. I've seen a few children but not like the other clubs with the large basketball courts and massive amounts of children. The month to month fee structure is another benefit. I go south for three months in the winter and can freeze my account ($10 fee) each month I'm out of town. read more

The gym, locker room and pool...all look great because they are almost brand new. but in reality...not that great. The pool never seems clean. The only reason I am giving 3 stars is because of the bathrooms in this location, they feel more like a club/spa than a gym. The events they organize are also very nice and the food provided in those events is yummy. Aside from that, i cannot give a positive review especially because of the classes, the group classes are MUCH better in rochester hills. Any class you join in rochester hills seems to be FUN! You really work up a sweat and it goes by quickly. In bloomfield, the classes feel boring and you dont really work out, sorry but it's the truth. For example, i've complained like 3 times about the cycle classes issue and so far, nothing relevant has been done. I even inquired about this in rochester hills and they mentioned that the teachers in rochester hills are some of the best in the nation; i can only say: IT SHOWS! but i just think it's unfair that i'm paying almost double than the members there and i'm not getting the same quality classes (same goes for dance jam classes). Honestly, the only reason i havent downgraded is because rochester is quite a drive for me and the bathrooms are not as nice, but i will definitely be checking the new Equinox gym when it opens in Dec because apparently they dont care enough about their member's feedback at lifetime athletic gym. read more

As a Equinox Fitness member in NYC, ($180 for individual), this gym isn't as nice, in equinox you get kiehls products in the locker room, many trainers on the floor who help spot and arent acting like a salesperson, In addition: bathrobes, slippers, valet parking. However, This gym feels like a regular lifetime. Two years back, it was more quiet, but the increase in membership makes this gym feel like a regular lifetime fitness. read more

I joined in March of 2019, and used it 3 times. The parking lot is tiny and overcrowded, the gym is small and overcrowded, too few machines and too many people at peak periods. Pushy on personal training. I don't need it and told them expressly no, still insisted. Lied to by the guy who signed me up. NEVER discussed 30 day cancellation policy, was told I would get my $$$ back for month I cancelled. When I went in to cancel it was explained to me. The guy who handled my cancellation also lied, said I would not be charged for July, but on my emailed receipt it expressly stated that I would be charged a prorated amount. Twice as much as the normal lifetime and less access. It is cleaner , but not much. These people are dishonest and lacking in integrity to the core. Do not care about members. Oh yes and they told me it was an adult gym not kids. and what do you get when you go at non peak times in the afternoon? High school kids screwing around in the locker room. In the summer? Little kids summer camp. I love kids , but not in a gym. The cafe and merchandise are also overpriced. Stay far away. read more

I joined this club back in October because we moved out to Cass Lake. I did the free week to try it out and loved it. Everyone is very kind, friendly and helpful. Lydia at the front is always so friendly! I came from a boutique studio of similar types of classes (but not such a friendly staff), and I needed something different. I like this Life Time for their classes, there is such a variety. There is a class for everyone, and any age, there is a variety in age and experience in each class. (You can see their class schedules online any day just google it). I would recommend trying classes with Kelly, Patti and John G, they are knowledgeable, experienced and help push you to your limits. I don't have any complaints, I use the locker room and showers daily and they are NOT dirty like other reviewers wrote. The pricing is high (including the spa & cafe), but in comparison to the other Lifetime club's in the area, it's worth it. You're paying for the quality of the establishment and the staff. If you're looking for an unbiased opinion of this gym, please scroll down to the 'Gym Review' section. I do want to provide one word of caution to potential members. If you are working with a sales guy named Kenny, please proceed with caution. Prior to committing to a membership, he will act like your best friend and will be very responsive should you have any questions. He was even able to get me a slightly discounted membership that he said wouldn't go up in the near future. Three months later, my dues went up by $20 and when I contacted him to ask why this was he ghosted me and never returned my emails. I eventually said if there is nothing that can be done about the new dues, I would like to return to being a gold level member. Again, I never heard from him, but he did go ahead and downgrade my membership without saying a word. I showed up at the club and was told I was no longer a diamond member. When I contacted him to ask about a few charges on my account that I didn't recognize and why I wasn't able to at least use the club for the month I had already paid for - again... No response. I would urge you to think twice before signing up under Kenny, because it is clear that he only cares about his numbers and not the member. Gym Review This gym, being Diamond level, is a bit nicer than the average Gold level location. That being said, it is a fair amount smaller with less equipment. Honestly if you've seen one Lifetime you've seen them all. I've been a member for over ten years, and I've enjoyed many of their locations. There are only two flat benches and a few squat racks, but generally speaking getting on one of these isn't an issue. The gym is very clean, and the amenities are great. If you live or work near this location, I do think it is worth paying the premium for the convenience. Outside of that, I do think their dues are a bit high for what they offer. read more

Been a member for a couple of months now and I love working out there! The pool is awesome, I've always been able to get a lane, the weights, machines, treadmills etc are top notch and clean. This place is an example of the adage "you get what you pay for". I would recommend starting out with a Gold membership to see if you enjoy it before switching to the Diamond. Differences I have noticed: *It's never crowded! Membership is limited to ~4000 members. Easy to find parking and easy to get your equipment. *Everything is sooo clean. I feel like you could almost eat off the locker room floor. *Staff is top-notch friendly and the turnover is low. *I've never encountered a broken swimsuit dryer unlike the gold locations. Also, there is a drain tube for the water instead of the water splashing all over your feet. *The décor is first class...Similar to a hotel or resort. *At the lifecafe you aren't expected to clean up after yourself and real silverware and plates are provided. *The latest and greatest equipment. The treadmills are buttery smooth to run on and a lot of the weight machines have this leather-like texture with a little LCD screen that tells you if you're going too fast or slow. Pretty much all the cardio equipment has personal TV screens with a ton of TV channels to choose from. *If you want to use the hot-tub with someone of the opposite gender you'll have to go to a gold club because at this club they are tied to each locker room. They are smaller in size but cleaner. *The pool water is clearer and doesn't smell like chemicals. *The cherry wood lockers have a customizable combination lock so you don't need to insert your membership card or carry around a key with you while at the gym. They also have a cubby at the bottom for your shoes and another cubby at the top for a hat or something. *Towels are plush size *The steam room is twice as big. *Beautiful glass shower doors and the shower water actually stays warm! *No outdoor pool *More sociable clientele. It's kind of like country club meets box-chain gym. It's a lot less sketchy to leave your phone/valuables laying around than at the other gyms. *More lenient guest policy *Unfortunately, hours are from 4am-midnight. I wish it were open a little later .. maybe 1am or 2am with a skeleton crew or something or open at 5am instead? So, I love this place. Yes, it is expensive, but it incentivizes me to utilize it frequently. With the diamond membership it allows you to go to any lifetime across the US and I have been to about 10. This one is definitely the best. It is very clean, the staff is great, and the cafe is good. I joined for the yoga though. Normally gym yoga isn't the real deal, but that isn't the case here. The yoga room is huge with no mirrors and heated to a warm temp. The teachers are all from Center for Yoga and are incredibly talented. The other fitness classes I have tried have been great too. The fitness floor itself has everything you can think of. It is never crowded, which I love. The spa is amazing. Best massages! The locker rooms are great and fully stocked with all the essential supplies like face wipes, shampoo, conditioner, razors, q tips, etc. There is a sauna, steam room, and hot tub inside the locker room as well.
