Once upon a time, I LOVED this gym. As other reviewers com,mented, it has a lot of amenities. However, ir has become a deluxe YMCA. It is very family-friendly, so there are kids everywhere. During the summer months, the pool is like the local community pool. Moms come with their kids and stay all day. The last time I was at the pool, a kid pooped in it. Not a baby with a diaper-a kid who didn't want to get out to go to the bathroom. Also, some parents do a better job supervising their kids than others. So although some things are restricted (hot tub, work out equipment) you may find yourself trying to relax in the hot tub with someone's 9 year old. No relax, and not safe. Not monitored by staff well so you either have to police it or prepare to be annoyed. The classes are tailored to people who are fit, so if you are trying to get in shape you'll find yourself doing a lot of independent activities. Lastly, the fitness coaches stand around visiting with each other and never assist unless you're signed up for a personal trainer. I tried to reach someone to report the steam room being out of order several visits in a row, and was basically told"sorry, do something else". I don't write reviews often but this is the absolute worst place to go if you're trying to get a gym membership. It's one BIG scam!! They told me that I signed a contract saying that I was member for the next 20 years and they kept adding extra fees so my bill was nearly 100$ a month. The only reason that I'm telling y'all this is so that it doesn't happen to any of you. And everyone who I have talked to who had a "membership" there have been screwed over just like me some people worse and even had to get lawyers.. read more

Avoid. Poor customer service. Some nice classes and instructors but unkept equipment in the studios. Careful with the terms. The staff misinformed me on the conditions and I am stuck for 6 months paying for a place I cannot go as much due to scheduling and do not want to go to anyway. read more

They've got a theft problem. Not only was I a victim but the week before my stuff was stolen, someone told me they had their watch stolen from the lockers. The thefts occur by someone using a crowbar device to pop open the lockers. If you don't believe me, look at the dozens of lockers in the mens room where there is an indention in the wood from the opposite door used for leverage. It got to the point where I was afraid to leave my keys in the locker because of keyless car entry. Other than that, they do have some good classes. I have been a member since 2011 and it is getting worse every year. Right now, it is the busiest time of the year, so classes are very full (sometimes I think they go over the capacity of the room and you do not have space to move at all), they run out of towels in the locker room now and then, showers are very dirty and water pressure is ridiculous, I can barely wash my hair, which is not long at all. I wish they would take better care of this gym :( Unfortunately right now it does not look good at all. read more

This is one of the best fitness gyms in Alpharetta. My only complaint is that some of the equipment they use is not as new as some of the other gyms in the area. But other than that, the gym is great. There's 2 basketball courts, swimming pools a sauna and they even got a rock climbing wall. read more

I've been wanting to join a gym for some time now but scared I wouldn't be able to fully commit. The company I work for recently got into a partnership with lifetime fitness. We get a subsidy towards our membership fees if we go the gym at least 8 times. I figured that would motivate me to go because I do not want to pay $90 a month for a gym. That is just too much, but this gym offers a lot. It's open 24/7, it has indoor and outdoor pools, a variety of classes and a good amount of workout equipment. I don't have kids but they have a lot of events for kids which I think is pretty nice and convenient. I mainly go to the classes specifically cycling and barbell strength. The instructors I've met are all amazing and motivating. I'm really glad I joined this gym. The only negatives I have is that it's so pricey. Some classes aren't included in the membership so you have to pay additional money. Also not many classes are offered on the weekends after 1pm. Fortunately, there are classes during the week I can attend, mainly in the morning. If you are willing to shell put the money it is a really good gym! read more

Sauna is one of few reasons I join the club. The ones in men/women's locker rooms are just greenhouse for plants. The big one at pools area has 2 units but only one working. We complained many times and the manager just ignore that. Since the temperature is not high enough (higher than the greenhouse), people stay there longer and it got crowded and unpleasant. If sauna is the one you look for, not worth $100/month. read more

Lifetime fitness in Alpharetta, Ga has the nastiest pool and towels. its facilities operator Cathy Redd is in charge to the dirty towels and pools. Her attitude toward the towels is " that as long as there is no blood or mucus on the towels then nothing else matters." When they wash towels in the laundry room they stuff the washer until its completely full and nothing else can fit in there. They don't use any bleach when they wash and the towels come out with a dirty film all over them. Cathy Redd and Desire Vinyard ( who is the General Managers right hand) believes its ok for the center to close down the pool for an hour to calm the public down after someone has defecated in the pool. read more

I highly recommend this place. Love the Life Cafe for dine-in-meals, hanging out after a class or grab and go. Jonathan, the manager, is awesome, very knowledgeable and everyone loves his energy!! The whole staff in the Life Cafe makes recouping from a hard workout the best part of your day!! I hope upper management sees this because they have a remarkable team in the Life Cafe. I would also highly recommend the best in the world Peanut Butter Smoothie (better than Reese Peanut Butter cups)it's out of this world!!!! Their chocolate muffins are my second favorite but my office staff favorite. I go several times a week and let's get EXTRA REAL.... I would probably drive to an hour for a concert, maybe for shoes, but not a couple times a week. I do drive that and more out of my way to go to this Life Time fitness Center because of the amenities, these wonder people in the Cafe!!! Many say "it's a country club without golf" this very true! This place has everything but the golf, lots of social activities and even a salon! To see some reviews that compare this to a gym to one that is a $20 a month in fees is like choosing a 5 full course meal at Capital Grill to a happy meal with a rare toy :-0. The staff is kind, friendly and very knowledgeable!! They are always helpful and answer questions but never hover. This place caters to all ages, sizes and it's multi-cultural. If I could give lifetime fitness Alpharetta less than one star,I would. I have had the worst experience ever canceling the membership with this gym. I have been with different lifetime locations over the years and have never had such a horrible time canceling my membership. In December I was assured that my membership was canceled and since then they have been charging my account. I reached out to Lisa,a very rude supervisor in member relations. She did not listen to anything I was saying, cutting me off before I could actually tell her the reason for my call. When I realized the conversation was going no where and this 'supervisor' was being condescending I asked to speak to someone else. She refused to allow me to speak to someone else stating she was the only person I could speak to! I'm so upset and will never be signing up for another lifetime fitness facility ever again. The issue of the monthly dues has still not been rectified and we are in August!!!! Run the other way sign up for LA fitness or something else don't sign up with them you will never be able to cancel your membership! read more

The facilities themselves are great - however, staff is dishonest and pushy. From the initial sale to personal trainers pitching their services while you are exercising, expect to be hounded as if you are at a used car dealership. Cancellation, unfortunately, is the worst part. You have to go the club in person and give a 30 day notice - seems reasonable. However, cancellation is only available during certain hours, even if sales staff is available. Plus, just because you come and cancel does not mean your membership is cancelled - you have to get a written notification of anything, because salespeople will lie through their teeth to avoid a cancellation. After a few futile attempts to come during the right cancellation hours, I was able to find the staff member for cancellation. It seemed to good to be true - they said membership is cancelled, no pitch, no hard sale. It was to good to be true - my membership was not cancelled, and they continued charging me for for 4 extra months. While facilities look great, do not be tempted to sing up with this outfit. All the marble in the world can not cover up the scam artists inside. read more

Ex: According to the woman who manages the Alpharetta membership, if a grandpa who is a member wants to bring his grandchildren, the grandpa has to pay/add the children to his membership and the parents have to pay for those same children. According to the reviews on kudzu.com they also make cancellation difficult. Oh and by the way the membership is very expensive. read more

Wow, ANOTHER SCAM... LIFETIME FITNESS ALPHARETTA, Ga, I signed up for a membership and I was told that I could cancel within 14 days if I wanted to. Then when I cancelled on the 11th day they told me because I owed 1 month from my memebrship 4 years ago in Florida. So as this wasn't explained to me I was livid when I was told the 130 dollars to join would not be given back to me. I tried to call several times and was put on hold .... even by the manager a few times. They obviously HAVE NO REGARD FOR THE CUSTOMER...... I WAS TRICKED AND THEY KNEW IT !!! Waiting for the manager -CHRIS WEINER to call me back.... 3rd call made already and no return..... It's the same with every gym and their usual scams.... the sales crew just wants their commision .... OBVIOUSLY NOT ABOUT THE CUSTOMER ANYMORE.... Funny, I talked to ALLYSSA (Manager Memebr Services) - She said she would do me a favor and not charge me for October !!!! HA HA .... WOW.... from a 14 day trial "with guaranteed return - TO A 2 Month PLus Sign up FEE ??? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? So I began my membership with Lifetime fitness at Johns Creek. The Johns Creek location is great I suggest you go sign up! But the Alpharetta location SUCKS! The equipment is tattered the customer service sucks, the trainers walk around like they got a fuckin problem instead of smiling and saying hello they puff their chests out and act tough! Did not feel the warm welcoming feeling that I felt at the other location and this is due to poor business/customer service on behalf of the sales team and trainers! Today i got email from them. i heve to two more months and then they cancel my account. The facility is nice with plenty of great amenities and a friendly staff, but the class offerings are too many with too few time options. I was a lifetime member for three years and in that time they have cut back on the privileges from when I first signed up. It was a guest a month, then a guest per quarter, then only on weekdays, then only at certain times. This gym in Alpharetta is poorly kept. The men's locker room smells like dirty clothes and has a musty smell all the time. Woodstock and Duluth are better kept. Then, there's the staff. The salesmen do not even acknowledge you unless you're a potential member. Very stuck on themselves. The trainers...I saw one that was helpful and the others are worthless. Helped one trainer un-jam a machine one time with great effort. He thanked me then, but any other times I happened to see him, no acknowledgement whatsoever. Again, I have no need to do business with such a stuck up staff that won't give you the time of day unless you're paying them money to be a workout buddy. The trainers have no problem taking up multiple machines. Over-priced, oversold gym. Machines are not always available, and maintenance of them is spotty. You have to pick and choose what time to go. Weights are typically left on by the members, especially leg machines and squat racks. Not too considerate of others following. Kids go into the free weight area and use machines without supervision. I'm very glad to be done with Lifetime Fitness. read more

I have nothing against the facilities and amenities, but the sales person lied to us about everything that was important to us. Childcare, swimming pool hours, and several other items that we specifically addressed with the sales person ended up being completely false. To pay so much money and have to follow so many ridiculous rules is asinine, especially with so many other gym options in the area. If you have an infant, you have to make a reservation and it is unlikely that you will get the time you want and it is unlikely it will be the same time each day, so no chance of having a scheduled workout. They refuse to change diapers so there is almost no chance of completing a workout either. When we asked to cancel the membership, they informed us we would not only be charged for the current full month that was only half over, we would also be charged for the next full month! So they lied to get us to join, then refused to make things right and then proceeded to charge us for an additional month! Customer service at its worst! read more

I have belonged to small, privately owned gyms, multiple golds gyms and la fitness. I never thought I would love another gym as much as golds gym. I love the classes at lifetime. Molly, the lifebarre instructor, is as nice as they come. It has every conceivable piece of equipment you could dream of....sliders, bosu, bands. I don't wait too long for a bench and if something is crowded, get on your phone. There is so much equipment and so much room you can find another exercise to compensate. The team fitness looks like great help and I'm signing up next month. My three personal training sessions with Roy were great. He was knowledgeable and professional. He checks in on me every few days when he sees me at the club. My husband hasn't been to the gym in years and has a fitness facility in his office building. He loves lifetime so much he is going three to four days a week. It is reasonably clean, has wipes and towels everywhere. The pools are blue. My kids love the pools and climbing wall. We only wish they had more auto belays so there would be less wait time for instructors on the ropes. read more

I have been a member at the Alpharetta and Woodstock centers since they opened. One of the reason I joined was for the outdoor pool. It has 5 lap lanes. Up until this year, I always managed to get a lane at 5:30PM each weekday. Sometimes I had to wait a few minutes. This year is a different story. They now reserve 2 lanes during primetime for children's swim lessons and swim teams. A third lane is used to test children on the swimming ability. This leaves 2 lanes available for members during prime time. I suggested that they move the swim lessons and swim team to the indoor pool. That has not happened. Between the reserved lap lanes and the occasional pool closure due to a child that used the pool for a toilet, I have not been able to swim unless I move to the inside pool. I think it is time I take my $110 monthly membership to another gym. I can sign up 2 of us at a good gym for half the membership fee. read more
