The guy working the store thought about it for a second then asked us to wait as he went to the back room. He returned with a pair of long black gloves with rhinestones along the arm edge. We tried to compare hand size with the glove but the worker said we could open the package and try it on. We did, it was a tight fit, and we returned it to the worker. Darn! But we appreciated the help and the worker's patience. Kinda strange that there weren't any women employees here but he was very helpful. The store was full of Junior-type clothing that skewed blingy. Lots of fancy occasion dresses. Good service.

On the occasion I do shop for myself, I tend to enjoy t-shirts and hoodies. It just happens that the good people of SwedLife have plenty of those items. SwedLife hasn't been around very long but they make up for it with plenty of personality and style. The first thing you'll usually notice are the owners Lucas, Seth and Mark (the resident Style and Sneaker expert). They are very quick to offer assistance if you need anything or have questions. If you are not a person into sneakers, fitted hats or snapbacks then it can be a bit much. However, the gentlemen can put your fears at ease pretty quickly as they are very relaxed and patient. Also they have all sorts of choices size wise. The shop isn't a very large place but they make great use of the space and the walls are brimming with artwork done by local artists. As a fan of hip hop, I love that they are constantly playing the newest and greatest music from national and local artists. If you don't know about the local scene or the even the next show, they can fill you in pretty quickly. Also they Sneakerheads as well (aka Sneaker Collectors). They are all experts but Mark is your guy if you need to know about the latest and greatest. In regards to price, it's not a cheap place to shop sadly. You can easily drop some major cash here if you aren't careful. The brands they carry aren't cheap but they are usually the only ones that carry those brands. The alternative is that you can order online so it isn't a bad deal. All and all, SwedLife is in a prime location and has a lot going in regards to it's personality and fashion. Some people might not be into the music or even the style, but if you do graviate towards that style SwedLife is one of your best options in St. Louis.

I scored a great pair of jeans for $90, less than half the price they would have been online. They have tons of great t-shirts, button ups, sweaters, coats, etc, all from designers I love. And the prices are awesome. I will say, pass on SwedLife if you're the type of person who uses "hipster" as a four-letter-word. You'll know as soon as you walk in if this is the store for you. I also have to note that the service here is seriously great.

deep disappointment with Dick's Sporting Goods for its decision to no longer sell firearms,…read moreammunition, and related accessories. As a customer and sportsman, I find it disingenuous that a store with "Sporting Goods" in its name has chosen to turn its back on a core part of American sporting culture. Firearms and hunting sports have been a central component of outdoor recreation for generations. By removing these products from your shelves, Dick's has alienated a significant portion of its customer base--people who engage in legal, responsible shooting sports, hunting, and self-defense. Caving to ideological pressures may win short-term headlines, but it erodes the trust and loyalty of long-standing customers who came to Dick's specifically because it was a one-stop shop for all sporting needs--including firearms. This decision is not only disappointing, it's a clear departure from what your brand originally stood for. If Dick's no longer intends to support the full range of traditional sporting goods, then perhaps it's time to reconsider the name on the front of the store.

The concept store aesthetic is meant to evoke the feel of a boutique, including spacious dressing rooms, personalized service, and a fashion-forward sensibility. Upon walking into the store, I was pleased that at least one part of the makeover was successful--the store seemed much brighter and more open. I also enjoyed the runway of mannequins showcasing this season's looks, as this is reminiscent of the setup at Reiss, one of my favorite retailers. There is no getting around the fact that this location is one of the smaller Ann Taylors. As for a boutique-y feel, I would say not so much--in fact, the only concession to a customized shopping experience that I observed is the touchscreen monitor that gives shoppers access to anntaylor.com where they can view and order items that are not available in store. I must have timed my visit right as there was a great sale going on, which leads me to: the point of sale. I'll note that the space near the cashwrap could be expanded as there is really no place to stand and right at checkout is not the best time for the customer to feel hemmed in. Overall, not a bad shopping experience, just not what I was expecting given the level of attention and market research that I'm sure went into this store's opening.
