PAY for parking, wagons, and shopping bags - u can buy sizes, so you need to evaluate how many of which size u need, then u pack it of course on a tiny lemon sized counter, and they rush u. It's just scarrry how consumers are being treated, [maybe this is the way and I'm just spoiled from the states, lol]. I like shopping in Lidl for a change, it reminds me of wandering around a supermarket on holiday and I always find a few unusual products to try. The fruit and vegetables in this branch of Lidl are always fresh and reasonably priced. I have heard that Lidl is one of the few supermarkets that have daily deliveries of fresh vegetables rather than storing them for days before selling them. Not everything in Lidl is much cheaper than Tesco or Asda (although it all looks cheaper) but you can find some bargains if you look for them. I love Lidl's stuffed olives, feta cheese and cheesy coleslaw. Lidl also do some nice own brand Jaffa cakes. I have made some bad buys here as well though, buying products I don't need or buying cakes or biscuits that look better than they taste. read more

Same as all other Lidl stores, lots of unusual foods, fresh fruit and veg, tinned stuffs cleaning products and toiltries. this lidl is located at the bottom end of stamford street and has a pretty good size car park. Look out for the specials on each week, and they are now trying to compete with other supermarket chains reducing their fruit and veg prices trying to get us all to eat healthy. read more

Ashford, Kent branch. Great for a quick shop where you can get a lot of basic stuff cheaply without trekking for miles round a big supermarket. Less indecision about brand choice as they have a limited selection - you either have the toothpaste or you don't! They also seem to have a lot of continental grocery items which you don't see in the main supermarkets, and the quality is not in anyway inferior, just cheaper. Actually, you do NOT pay for parking or trolleys, as reported by the yanks. You get 90-mins free parking, and you get your pound coin back from the trolley, nothing unusual there. True you pay for bags - so what? It's not much. Not difficult to keep a few carrier bags handy in the car and, actually, Lidl do some really massive, thick vinyl carrier bags which I use for shopping at Sainsbury as they are so big and strong. 2 of 'em take a trolley load. If you do accidentally outstay your welcome in the car park (as I did once one late Sunday afteroon), you just have put up with a series of intimidating letters (not from Lidl's). JUST IGNORE THEM - DO NOT IN ANY WAY ACKNOWLEDGE THEM. After about 6 letters they stop, as they know it's not worth taking you to court. The 'bit in the middle' where they sell all kinds of other stuff from tools to toys, clothing to car accessories, is faintly amusing to nose around, and you invariably end up buying some 'useful' item. My only real gripe with Lidl's is they only seem to have one checkout open and there is unnecessary queueing. No urgency by staff to keep things moving, it seems to me. Overall, I like the place. It may be untrendy and down-market, but it's good for essentials when you are on a budget. read more

I went shopping there one day and the staff are awful and very very rude. Made a Complain to the manager and he was even ruder. They dont give u the time of day and all there interested in is rushing you though the till to meet there own targets. I will never shop there again and would not recommend then to noone. read more

I have recieved a parking fine for £90 for a period of 56 minutes,50 of those minutes were taken up shopping in Lidl,they advertise how cheap they are but with parking rates I could have driven to Harrods and it would still cost less read more

We have shopped at Lidl for over 12 years and up to now have been delighted with the product, price and service. However, last week we picked up their weekly offer magazine and spotted "Super Weekend" which included our favourite tipple, Prosecco at £20 per case reduced from £31.50. We were ecstatic and at 7.55am on Saturday pulled into the car park to see around 20+ other customers had thoughts similar to ourselves. We queued and got into the shop around 8.05am, went straight for the offer section to discover that they had sold out and that no further stocks were expected. Many, including us, totally disgruntled, disappointed and shocked at what obviously was a "scam" by Lidl to get customers in without any intention of most of them being able to take advantage of the offer. Shame on you Lidl we thought that you were more professional and substantial than to treat your loyal customers so disgracefully. You are going to have to work very hard to regain our confidence! read more
