Dr. Gamboa writes about his ER patients, one of whom came in, a young man who was wheeled in after his quad flipped over in the sand dunes of Imperial Valley. Great bookstore and a good read for people who can see past labels and delve into life, and the instances when all one's assumptions and ideas about our own invincibility are called into question. The book is written by a well-respected surgeon who has been humbled by what he has seen in life and death situations. He draws the reader to come to regard what becomes an inevitable conclusion as science steps beyond the unknown.

We were looking for NBA books but they didn't have any, but they had everything else the 12 yr old loves to read. They even carried an impressive Southeast Asian collection for Cambodia which is what my Pha had every single copy of already.

I was also informed of sloped floors and uneven areas since I am a cane user which I GREATLY appreciated. This store is stacked with literature and poetry, I'd say that's definitely their forte here. Their lit section for new releases is huge and they had so many different editions for so many popular literature books. They also had a lot of lit and non fiction used options. Everything is great pricing. Basically either list or discounted for used items. The store is cozy and small with memories, photos, and clippings everywhere on the walls. It you are a wheelchair user it is not accessible for you, but if you use a mobility aid like a cane or crutch you can manage. There are very small tight sections. Next time I'm in the market for a classic book, this will be my go to.

They give you a set of rules before you enter and there are signs that you can't take pictures. Only once you listen to those rules can you enter... I overheard the men working here complaining about young people taking pictures in front of their book cases outside while a young girl was doing just that. Basically making fun of anyone who does that. I said "you all have a beautiful place, it's so photo worthy." They just said ya, but if you're not looking for books then don't come in here and start taking pictures. lol - can you not do both....? We entered through the courtyard where several small vendors sold souvenirs. It was convenient for me to pick up a few gifts for friends in a low-key setting compared to the crowded shopping spots around Ensenada. Walking around the building, there is a mural highlighting missions along the coast, various rooms with historic artwork and preserved architecture. I especially liked this circular room that had art on the ceiling. We made our way to the bar where they gave samples of margaritas and Mexican coke. The historic Hotel Riviera del Pacifico in Ensenada was first opened in 1930! It is impressive how…read morewell this monument has been preserved for nearly 100 years. The locals refer to it as Ex-hotel Riviera. It is now used by the Mexican government to manage different types of municipal business. I drove from Sacramento to Ensenada as part of the dual citizenship campaign that happens once a year. I've been working diligently to get dual citizenship for my children as I am dual citizen, myself of Mexico and the USA. They could not have chosen a better location to perform such a ceremony. There is a restaurant on site, but I did not get an opportunity to try the food. If you appreciate history of Mexico, this might be a neat site to walk-through.
