My man recommended Scottie at Dagger Tattoo, and from the minute we met I was stoked on what was to come. I didn't really have an idea of what exactly I wanted, I just knew I wanted what I had to be covered. Scottie took the reins and it came out GORGEOUS. Since that piece, I went back for another, and now we're back actively working on a sleeve. Aside from the quality of work, the shop is clean, and everyone there is so fun to be around. I have only felt welcome and had fun every time I go in. I only recommend Dagger Tattoo now.

Dannie is hella good people, with sick ass skills. The minute you walk into his shop you feel very welcomed, AND at home. He immediately puts on some chill ass island music to ease your nerves before the blasting. You tell him what you want, he sketches it on the spot, on where you want it, and he does his magic. "Addicted" is a strong word, but one that I'm reminded of when frequently looking at Dannie's tattoo portfolio on either IG or FB. His tribal-art-inspired portraits and tropical designs are just magnetic and beautiful for its appreciation of simplicity. His use of color is just right, enough to give a pop to tribal tattoos. If you're ever in the area, want a bomb ass chronically acclaimed tattoo, from the islands (Micronesia, Polynesia, and/or Melanesia) or just simply have a deep appreciation for tribal tattoos - hit up Reddirt Tat2 for some clean ass lines! His work definitely speaks for itself: diverse, meticulous, and hella classy. A lot of his tattoos will last the test of time for its untiring use of black, and linework.

I booked this appointment 6 months in advance and got a response right away. I picked Deville based on the outstanding reviews. Nemo was super communicative and accommodating and let me come in a little early. He had my stencil drawn up based on the photo I sent him. He took my idea and turned it into a beautiful piece of art. This was one of my last experiences in San Diego and it was a perfect way to remember this experience. Since I'm traveling he gave me extra second skin just in case I needed to change it (I did). Great artist, super friendly guy, clean shop, beautiful work and turns out he even has atlanta connections (where I'm from) which felt like a sign I was in the right spot. If you're in San Diego and want a great experience and beautiful art stop by Deville. Thanks Nemo!!

Anali Delaney, the owner, has created two significant tattoos for me. I can't believe how…read morebeautifully they have turned out, and how wonderful Anali has been during the whole process. I had asked for things that would have been huge mistakes. Anali was gentle, but not afraid to steer me away from the terrible ideas I had. I've laughed at myself and said that I'd shut up and let her expertise lead. For my first tattoo with Anali, we took several short breaks during the 7.5 hours I was there. Each was enough for the bathroom and snacks, but not so long that we were wasting time. Anali is efficient and pretty gentle (at least as anyone can be) with her needles. Anali has an almost supernatural ability to choose the perfect colors and tones for her clients' skin. I have nearly transparently light skin, and she could have made me look sickly pale or fishbelly white. Instead, her color choices bring out the best in my skin. When my tattoo-hating Grandmother raves about my tattoo's beauty, you know that it's something special. Anali is always fun to talk with, and her office manager Alex is hilarious! Both women are kind and compassionate. When I got choked up upon seeing my shoulder tattoo, Anali backed off to let my husband comfort me. She sensed that I needed him, and was happy to not intrude on a special moment. I'm currently working on a large floral leg tattoo with Anali. We've completed two sessions, with many more to come. I wouldn't trust just anyone to tattoo me from hip to ankle! Anali has my absolute faith. I've picked the flowers that are important to me, and given her complete creative freedom to arrange them and choose alternate references as she sees fit. To make life as difficult as possible for Anali, I keep adding flowers as I find new ones that I love! I'm sorry for the bother, but she's been wonderful about rolling with my additions. She also has guest tattooers all the time, some of whom are big names. Others are hidden gems. But I trust that she wouldn't bring in anyone who didn't have the very highest skill level, true professionalism, and a great personality. I told him I wanted a sugar skull with wings going across my back and a few elements included in the sugar skull to represent my father and Isaac got it on point. I sat for 6 hours and wouldn't do that again haha. I told Isaac I wanted to get it done in one shot and he worked quickly. He was pretty light handed which is nice when you have someone hammering on you with a tattoo gun for hours. The colors came out amazing!!
