It's about a mile and a half from the beginning of the parking lot to the end and back. There are bathrooms at Andy's as well at the beginning of the trailhead. The trail is along the water and you can see Mount Tam, the Richmond Bridge, and the East Bay in the distance as well as East and West Marin Island which are close in distance. Many birds like herons flock to this area. It's great for a stop to walk around if on a drive through China Camp.

But none of that makes up for the absolute disaster that is this marina's management. Power at the slips is unreliable--often dipping as low as 206 volts on a 50-amp pedestal, well below safe standards for sensitive equipment. Report basic maintenance issues, like leaky spigots, and you'll be met with silence. Maybe it's a revolutionary self-cleaning dock feature that I'm not privy to. Far more troubling, though, is the culture of selective rule-making and enforcement. Pat, the harbormaster, zips up and down the dock on a scooter, seemingly deciding who gets harassed and who gets a pass. Christine splits her time between marina duties and bartending at the yacht club, bringing inconsistency and attitude to both. In fact, the dysfunction here is so pronounced that it made headlines. A Marin Independent Journal article from 2013 (with several follow-up updates) details a surreal incident in which a marina regular bit off Pat's finger during a dispute in the vacant lot next door (now occupied by the housing development known as "The Strand"). The man had been building a catamaran out of Home Depot parts--destined for Hawaii. Sounds unbelievable--until you've spent time here. Then it just feels like another day at Loch Lomond. I briefly served as the entertainment director for the yacht club, and while the members were gracious and welcoming, their warmth couldn't compensate for the mismanagement that defines the harbor itself. I picked up the stack pack in Sausalito and. brought to PV. it was HUGE and fit like stink. Long story short, Robin agreed to pay half the cost to recut the cover but it's still over size and can never be made to fit right. Another gripe; the hardware he provided was way too small. When I told him, he said he provides the same size lazy jack lines to all size boats regardless of size. To me, that's ridiculous. Worst I've ever experienced. I was called three times during my workday so they could tell me nothing about the status of my boat being repowered. Nobody knows anything without tugging on the owners sleeve. Poor business model In my opinion and experience. I was also over charged by almost 1000$ over the estimate, which was high. When the estimate included additional labor line to "remove old motor and prep transom" When the motor was already removed. Overall bad experience and I would not recommend them to anyone. They stated they would have it washed before pick up after water testing. They did not, there was trash and debris in my boat from the work. They also changed out my motor mount plate from perfect good factory condition to a POS with their logo on it, without my consent. On top of all that, the new manual for the outboard they installed was tossed in a hatch and water logged. Do yourself a favor and take your marine work elsewhere.

They take pride in their work and want everything to fit well. When Aldred says, "let us know how it fits," he means it. This place does quality custom work in a timely manner. Starbuck Canvas has a nautical, jovial, inviting atmosphere. You park and go up the stairs into their large open workspace. There are usually a few people measuring or stitching things who look up and smile 'hello' and go on with their work. I am usually greeted by one of the owners at the top of the stairs. I have a good time whenever I pick something up or stop by to visit. The staff is genuinely friendly and one of the owners, Aldred, always has an interesting tidbit or story to tell. I highly recommend this business. It's a good experience all around.

Yet another absolutely picturesque yet utilitarian spot in San Francisco…read more The meeting place for SF Parks & Rec camp was here at the small craft harbor at the foot of Scott Street, right off Marina boulevard and a stone's throw from the Palace of Fine Arts. Camp has a day sail and paddle boarding planned for the kids! Look out at the beautiful harbor and then off past the docks to the stunning San Francisco Bay. There's plenty of sun- fog burns off by early morning- so zinc-based SPF protection is a must (a hat would be a good idea, too). Restrooms are available in a small stone building at the dock.

Mr. Hi Tide said if I give him a CC # he would tell me because he's had it with customers "picking his brain" for free. On my last and final visit I came to his business at 3pm on Thursday and he was in his office eating a sandwich. Did I leave with the part I needed? Nope. "I'm eating lunch! Come back in an hour", in a toxic, confrontational tone. The only reason this BULLY stays in business is that he's the only Mercruiser parts dealer around. I advise you to find another parts source rather than deal with this douch bag.
