But Frank and Sue have created an environment that I love. I can afford to be anywhere with my three boats but I prefer Liberty Ship. An amazing location as the previous reviewer stated. And an equally amazing and interesting cast of very authentic characters. In a good way, it reminds me very much of Steinbeck's "Cannery Row". Many of the remnants of the building of the Liberty Ships are evident, so it is like living in a piece of history. Being a Bostonian, I value that greatly. I hope it never changes. I feel very lucky to have found this great facility. Everyone is friendly, helpful and courteous and the rates are by far the most reasonable in Sausalito.

I'm a big guy but I felt uncomfortable when he made repeated attempts to ask me out on a date. I explained politely I'm straight, but he pretended not to hear me. I highly reccomend carrying a small can of pepper spray for this little guy. He's got shortman syndrome and a personality disorder...my opinion of course. He's a joke and pretty pathetic, lol. Glad I'm done working that job there!!! Avoid this floating slum and slumlord.

The staff both office and grounds are very professional and friendly. The absolute cleanest bathrooms around! (Security key access only) My only complaints are 1. The washdown pressure where I keep My boat stored in the gated lot very low. Barely flushes motor. 2. The ramp at high water, or anywhere near that, is very difficult to use due to the angle of the ramp being very low. I can have all 4 wheels of my truck wet and the boat will still be entirely out of the water.

Sheriff's Dept. keep its boats there and maybe that's why nobody has stolen as much as a winch handle even when I forget to lock up all winter. I have a 32" but I've seen yachts much larger and smaller (including a couple kayaks tied up on B-dock). Easy parking, clean bathrooms, fresh water and reliable shore power at every slip. Views of Bay Bridge, SF, Tiburon/Belvedere and Mt. Tam. Been there a few years and don't have a single complaint. Love that you can auto-pay rent on a credit or debit card w/o a fee. Richard bay marina is the place for me.

It's about a mile and a half from the beginning of the parking lot to the end and back. There are bathrooms at Andy's as well at the beginning of the trailhead. The trail is along the water and you can see Mount Tam, the Richmond Bridge, and the East Bay in the distance as well as East and West Marin Island which are close in distance. Many birds like herons flock to this area. It's great for a stop to walk around if on a drive through China Camp.

But none of that makes up for the absolute disaster that is this marina's management. Power at the slips is unreliable--often dipping as low as 206 volts on a 50-amp pedestal, well below safe standards for sensitive equipment. Report basic maintenance issues, like leaky spigots, and you'll be met with silence. Maybe it's a revolutionary self-cleaning dock feature that I'm not privy to. Far more troubling, though, is the culture of selective rule-making and enforcement. Pat, the harbormaster, zips up and down the dock on a scooter, seemingly deciding who gets harassed and who gets a pass. Christine splits her time between marina duties and bartending at the yacht club, bringing inconsistency and attitude to both. In fact, the dysfunction here is so pronounced that it made headlines. A Marin Independent Journal article from 2013 (with several follow-up updates) details a surreal incident in which a marina regular bit off Pat's finger during a dispute in the vacant lot next door (now occupied by the housing development known as "The Strand"). The man had been building a catamaran out of Home Depot parts--destined for Hawaii. Sounds unbelievable--until you've spent time here. Then it just feels like another day at Loch Lomond. I briefly served as the entertainment director for the yacht club, and while the members were gracious and welcoming, their warmth couldn't compensate for the mismanagement that defines the harbor itself. Avoid--unless you're nostalgic for chaos.

I went to the restaurant and left…read more But this time, I took a chance to look around and marveled at all of the funky wood and metal treasures surrounding what would otherwise be a barren wasteland. The funkiness of the creative touches were cool. It was nice and sunny and there was a slight breeze. There were tables to sit, an unmanned cart for food, and the stage. I find it interesting that all of that was there because until I came to another restaurant in the area, I didn't know that this area existed. Now driving there is a beast because the roads are littered with potholes and there are areas where there is essentially one lane to drive, so you have to be very, very careful. But this spot, once you get to it, is it worth it? Maybe, it depends on what's going on. I'd love for them to have a bit more going on, but I respect the fact that it is so far out of the way that it may be a bit difficult. The marina down there is quite small and there's no way to tell how much business would come by that. So, this wouldn't be a destination like Berkeley or Richmond Marina's where they have options if you want to eat, but it's cute and funky and with the restaurant they have in the area, it's not a waste of time.
