Westpoint Harbor - Sunset

Westpoint Harbor

We docked our boat at Westpoint for Thanksgiving week and we have nothing but positive things to…read moresay. The marina is in a very safe area with night-time security at the Google campus gate. The marina itself is super clean-- think pristine, floating concrete docks that do not move when you walk on them, sparkling bathrooms with modern luxury showers, and easy parking. This makes it very easy for taking out family and friends on the water. The fairways are wide here and the fuel dock is easy to pull up to. They have some of the most reasonable diesel and gasoline prices in the SF Bay too. Service was great whenever we had questions and both front office and dock staff were very friendly. They respond to email and phone promptly (thanks Sonya and Debbie!). The few permanent liveaboards were the classiest neighbors; boats in this marina are shiny and well-maintained. A couple super yachts are in here too. The only downside is the distance to SF/GG Bridge/Angel Island. It's 90 minutes at 25 kts to Ayala Cove. But you do get the low-key Peninsula weather that makes this marina a great place to spend time and a low-stress environment in which to dock. Thanks again and see you next time!

The marina itself is great, I have had friends rent slips here, and have all been very positive about their experience. The staff in the marina office are super nice.

Berkeley Marina - Old door at one of the docks

Berkeley Marina

West Berkeley

A beautiful spot!…read more The Berkeley Marina quickly became one of my favorite weekend spots while going to school in the city. There is something here for quite literally everyone of all ages and physical capabilities. I visited on a warm Saturday afternoon and was pleased to see there were people literally everywhere. On the land, there were dozens of children playing on the playgrounds. My friends and I were walking by the Adventure Playground (a wooden, quite industrial-looking play area), where we heard what sounded like the hammering of wood. I jokingly asked, "what is that noise? Are the kids in there building the playground themselves?" To my surprise, they literally were. This playground offers the unique opportunity for children to build and design the play area themselves. There are forts, towers, and even a zipline. This is a great way for kids to build community and work with their hands. Right next to this is a more "traditional" playground with slides, swing sets, and all the works. There are also many walking/running trails around the whole marina. Along these paths there are benches and tables where you can have a picnic and enjoy the beautiful view of the bay. You'll see people being active throughout the whole area. The main paths are paved so they are accessible to those with mobility issues. There are public restrooms available that are relatively clean. The water activities are endless here. There are kayak rentals, sail boats, and just plain swimmers. There are multiple docks to launch small crafts and to take a dip. In the shallower beachy areas, there were children swimming. If you look off to the distance, you'll see the strong open water swimmers practicing in their wetsuits. You may even see people learning how to use a hydrofoil board. People are often flying their kites off the bay's breeze too. I believe this is truly a spot for everyone who enjoys the outdoors. But, must I warn you...beware of the squirrels because they WILL run up to you and they sure aren't shy.

OH WOW! Berkeley Marina has been several fun times with the family!…read more It has amazing views of the Golden Gate Bridge and the surrounding city! Lots of parks nearby. Cesar E Chavez Park, Berkeley Waterfront, Shorebird Park, and much more! We saw people paddle boarding, and kayaking. Plenty of boats and sailboats, too. We enjoyed the walking trails! There's plenty of eateries all around! Restaurants with a view of the water!! Overall, we enjoyed it. It's a beautiful area to get your steps in. Have a meal with friends and family.

So if you look through my profile, there's another marina I reviewed almost a decade ago. People…read morechange, times change, responsibilities change. Last year I started to look for a sailboat, and one of my coworkers wanted to get one with me. After going to several marinas to look at boats, I really liked what Coyote Point had to offer. Not as long as a drive to SF, Sausalito, or Oakland. Completely safe and patrolled grounds. The rangers make their presence very well known, and there's a sheriff shooting range on site as well. The park charges an entrance fee, and combined these things seem to really cut down on the amount of riff raff at this marina. I wanted a place I could feel safe with my family. October 2020 the harbormaster pointed us to a great boat owned by another tenant, we made our purchase and now we reside here. The Marina bathrooms are OK, but I decided to pay the extra bit to belong to the yacht club which is really nice. After a day of sailing, it's nice to go to a heated bathroom, take a hot shower, plop down on a comfy couch to watch some satellite TV. Finally, going back to family, my wife doesn't sail, but she does like the park and the number of pokestops and gyms there. There are some downsides, but given the upsides I can't really fault the marina or remove stars. * You're pretty far south as far as a sailboat is concerned. At best you'll make it to Berkeley in a day. * There are no nearby chandleries or boat stores. No running back and forth for stuff * The Marina could use a dredging. At low tide my 5' keel is stuck in the mud.

Replace the harbor master Robert Gardali. A very Rude person . I have sent my application and all…read moredocuments in line . I was told by one of the employees to come to the Marina to finish my application and bring my boat and dock my boat ,it was Memorial Day Monday . Before I got to the marina I called and talked to some one and got their permission and gave me the permission to dock at 1161 or 1162 slips .so I did then I went to the office he told me to call Tuesday morning . I did call Tuesday morning and I was told that some one will call me back . I received a call back from the harbor master Robert Gardali . Who had zero manner and doesn't know how to talk in a nice civil way . He told me I am not authorized to have my boat there and no one gave me a permission to dock my boat at the marina . He was yelling over the phone giving warning to move my boat and I have 24 hours to Move it or it will be moved and disposed . He would not listen to what ever I say . Wednesday I went to the marina to move my boat , the lady at office was super nice with a nice friendly amazing smile . She gave me access to the gate . I was prepping my boat to leave , then Robert Gardali showrd up , he was calm at that time . I asked him the reason for what happening ! he told me the same thing over the phone I told him i was given a permission to bring my boat to the marina . He called me a liar and said what ever he said over the phone . I let him talk without any interruption and when I was about to start taking he started walking away . I told him I listened to you and it's his turn to listen to me . But he stared walking away me raising my voice I told him That is very disrespectful and he needs to be on the same page with his employees . The last thing he said that he has the power to move me out of the marina and walked away . I started my boat , filled up gas and left the marina on a windy rough day in the water . He has no right in his position to talk to any one like that or disrespect people . Very disappointing a clerk of San Mateo county to behave like that .

I enjoyed that it's minutes away from the none stop speed racers on 101 (and everyday life stresses) It truly was unexpected and viewing the waters was very relaxing. Hard to explain on screen, but it was natures relaxer for me. Grabbing a bite to eat near by Or pack a brown bag or a picnic basket are in my horirons, plus bring a sketch pad and just doodle away. The bathrooms were nearby and they weren't too bad! The amount of new buildings in this area is fantastic to see. There are many tech companies and of course Genentech. After driving past all of this, you'll enter the marina area. Many people launch their crafts from here. Others like to fish or hike. Everything changes when you reach the marina. It's peaceful, calm and beautiful. It can get windy so be prepared. Side note--the road leading to the water is in desperate need of repair. I have never seen such big dips in a road like these. A short trip from SF (10-15 minutes?)
