Be prepared to wait a long time for your cab to actually show up. After we decided to take a walk from our hotel to the Anchor Bar to check out their wings ( which are really not as good as we had hoped. not even that good ) we had the bar call us a cab. About 40 minutes later along with a few other couples also waiting in purgatory and with the bar closing we had the bartender call again. Found out the cab company screwed up and didn't book the cabs to come get us. Idiots. Once the cab did show up for us we had a quick trip back to our hotel with a nice driver. The only reason I'm giving them two stars. Thankful I live in Manhattan where there are real cabs. read more

I waited a long time to write this review. So long in fact that I used them again. Mistake. My first experience had me leaving a hospital in the middle of the night for a three mile drive directly down Main Street. They said 15 min. Ok. Shame on me for not checking the meter was on. It was not. When I asked him to put it on he said he was there to pick someone else up, not me and he did not put the meter on so that would not be tracked. Ok. So first you left someone else waiting? Guess that's where the other reviews come from. Second you are breaking the cab rules and of course stealing from your company. Then he waaay overcharged. And I knew it. Just not by how much. So my tip was paltry. And he commented on it. "Big house little tip". Really? House is not that big and the tip was all the cash you pocketed! The next time they were on time. They had the meter on. They were taking a non buffalo native to a hotel downtown. 4 miles from the house. $18. Clearly they took him for a ride. I suspect the meter in this case because he said the ride was generally in the right direction. So Liberty Cab management, you need to keep better track of your drivers. It's clear from the reviews they are stealing from you left and right. Liberty Cab drivers, you need to generally be more honest and turn on the meter. Liberty Cab dispatchers, you need to get better at predicting wait times. And make sure your drivers pick up the people you sent them to pick up and not stealing fares from other drivers and stealing from your company. Never again. read more

Definitely a terrible taxi company. There have been countless occasions where taxi drivers have refused to drive me home because I was "too close." Most notably last weekend when one said "fuck that" and drove away. Shouldn't these drivers know that it's illegal to do that? I suppose I could understand if I was completely inebriated but I'm just a 22 year old girl who needed a ride home. Next time I'm taking a picture of their license plate and reporting them. Also, a good amount of their drivers drive drunk. Last weekend they picked up my friends and the driver had a beer in hand! Safe, right?? Also if you are even thinking about getting a taxi, you better plan hours in advance because if you don't, good luck...you're walking to your destination. this cab service really sucks. today march 17th 2021 my mother had an appointment at 10:30 and i reserved a cab for her at 3:00 in the morning for a 10 am appointment time for the cab to show up and they never called until 10:45am. i am so sick and tired of this. there is no one to talk to to complain. i call all the time and it takes them over 30 minutes to show up. half the time they are not wearing masks and they expect me to for safety. the other half the time it smells of weed in the car. i can't take much more. please fix this. thank you. an angry friend read more

I booked this company a week in advance, they confirmed the day before and never showed up. I had a plane to catch and ended up driving my own car to the airport and leaving it there for a week. If I could give ZERO star I would. I called and made reso a day in advance for handicap van to pick us up down the road from BUF airport for Sunday morning 6am. After calling Saturday 3 times to confirm the exact van I needed he assured me they would be there and would call 20 min before arriving. Sunday morning I never received a call so I started calling the company.. "they'll be there" "we're reaching out to the driver" "Dont worry the reservation is still confirmed and will be there" after 13 calls they informed me "the driver isn't available until 9am, we are sorry but we have no vans for your ride" then cancelled. WTH!! NOT OKAY AT ALL. I have a brother who is power chair bound and cannot transfer or get into a normal vehicle, or i would have used UBER- but this is the only handicap service available.. What did he have to do? He had to ROLL HIMSELF and our luggage down to the airport at 7am on the main Genessee St and almost missed our 8am flight by 5 minutes.. I've taken this taxi service twice before, and while the second ride was actually pretty great, the first one was ridiculous. First off, he was 15min late after saying he would arrive in 5min - but I'm used to local taxi's pulling that, so it didn't bother me. As soon as I stepped into the car, I was asked if I was paying cash or credit. When I said cash, the driver said "Oh, then I don't have to turn the meter on!" - which confused me, but then he immediately followed up with "If dispatch calls you, tell them that you canceled the ride and don't need it anymore". Clearly, the man was going to pocket the money and not tell his boss that he ever picked me up. The ride ended up being $14 from Elmwood to Allentown - a mere two miles. $7 a mile is pretty ridiculous. The second time I was forced into using the service, they told me my driver would arrive "hopefully in 15-20min, we don't know if we have any available drivers" - what? How do you not know where your own cars are? I told them to forget about it, and I began to walk to the bus instead, and received a call not even 3 minutes later saying my driver was outside. Amazing. I get in and was warmly welcomed - the driver had the meter going for me, and was generally pleasant. He got me there a lot quicker than I thought he would. Quick to show up, kind, and quick to drop me off - that man seems to be an anomaly within this dreadful cab service. He should be running this place! Apparently Uber & Lyft are coming to Buffalo real soon, but if this cab service is my only option until then, it really cannot come soon enough. read more

Horrible corrupt company. Was hit by an aggressive and reckless cab driver. Lied about his name and drove away (claimed he was Wayne, later found out he lied about his name and the company would not tell me his real name). Police report was filed. The vehicle involved was a dark green Dodge Grand Caravan mini van with New York license plate number 37020LV with a "12" sticker on the back. Company denied it ever happened and would not reimburse through insurance. Their management is horrendous (Matt Collins). I'm surprised they are allowed to even hire such incompetent staff. No wonder they are losing all their business to Uber and Lyft, they are criminals. Uber and Lyft are the best, ride with them instead! read more

There's nothing quite like a poorly managed and operated taxi company to piss you off on a weekend that's supposed to be fun (cousin's wedding). This taxi company is terrible. They were over an hour late to pick us up, and when a driver finally showed up, he was beyond sketchy. I'm talking "if you get in that vehicle you may never come back" sketchy. We kept calling to find out where our taxi was and I swear they kept sending out a different driver each time. We were waiting at a hotel in Buffalo, not lost in Bora Bora. With the majority of yelpers here. Liberty cab is hardly worth 1 star. Since Buffalo does not have uber there are few options for transportation. Liberty is a cab service that seems to have a monopoly over the Buffalo scene. Honestly cab service can be hit or miss. You really never know what you're going to get. Rarely do I come across quality service. Not asking for much - just fair rates and a direct route. This evening put me over the edge. The cab driver said it was 20$ flat rate from downtown key bank center to Elmwood - what a joke. At most it's 10$. I told him to put the meter on. Which he did but then proceeded to take a longer route going 20 mph and took a wrong turn - I was livid. Please just put your meter on. It's VERY ILLEGAL if you don't!!! read more

I would give them -5 stars if I could. I requested a Liberty Cab via the Curb app​, and used the service "message the driver" to inform the driver that I was at the laundromat. He knew well in advance that we were transporting laundry to a location. If he didn't want the job, he could have simply denied the request to offer us a ride, and someone else would have obliged. But he didn't--he came anyway. I have requested a number of different cabs--from airports with my luggage, to grocery stores with my groceries. I just moved here from CA, and since Buffalo doesn't have Uber OR Lyft, my transportation options are limited. Either way, I have never encountered such rude service as I did this evening. He picked us up, and there were two very visibly drunk men who attempted to enter the cab with us. Against my wishes, the driver allowed these two random, drunk men whom I didn't know, who reeked of alcohol, to ride in the cab that I ordered to get to my home. I didn't want these men knowing where I lived (as they were hitting on my friend and I and made up feel very uncomfortable!!) Nevertheless, as we drove off, the driver IMMEDIATELY began talking under his breath, being very rude towards me and my friend. There was a moment where the two men expressed wanting to buy alcohol, to which your driver said, "Don't worry. I'll get you your alcohol. I'll take to you get some." That was just so shady, very unprofessional, and made me feel unsafe. Towards the end of the very short but stressful ride, one of the men offered several times to pay our fare (which was only $3.30) to which the driver REPEATEDLY said no, in a very rude and disparaging way. So he walked to the back where I was unloading my laundry, and said "That'll be $3.30". This is when he used a racial slur in a foreign language (One which I understand some of). Shocked and floored, I said, "There's no reason for you to be so rude to me and my friend. We're just using your service.", to which he said, "Do you see this?! Do you see all these bags?!" pointing towards my bags and using more rude and foreign-spoken commentary. If he didn't want to do the job, he didn't have to do the job. I just don't understand why he was so unprofessional and rude for NO REASON. Still, I gave him a $10, the smallest bill I had, and when he went to the front to make "change", another Liberty Cab pulled up behind us & passed a beverage to him (don't know what was in the cup, maybe alcohol.). He then returned, but when I requested my change, he literally only gave me back $5 and refused to give all of my change. Usually I round up, typically paying a minimum of $5, but he was so rude. Then he drove off, RESTARTING the meter for the drunk men who got in at the same time as us. So essentially, I paid for everyone in the ride, even though they weren't a part of my party, and he gave the drunken men a free few miles. Please either fire or, or train him on how to interact with the public without being racist, rude, and stealing money from paying customers who just want a ride. read more

Purposely missed the correct exit to drive further on the 290 and charge more, then missed the next exit we could have taken as well, ended up going in a giant loop and getting charged double what the trip should have taken. Would have gotten out and walked the rest of the way if it wasn't on the thruway. Absolute scam. Will never use again. The driver argued with me and said, "well 5 people can fit". I called them back and they sent another car! First off I would like to say that all taxis in Western New York take credit card. If they say that they don't it's because the driver is looking to not log the trip and pocket the money. I was out with a couple of friends after playing a double header football game. We went to the bar and we also went out to dinner. I had my bike with me and I was planning on riding home but the night was getting later and later. I decided to waive down a cab. A Liberty cab driver pulled up and asked if I needed a cab I said yes but I have my bike, he said it was no problem but you just have to pay cash. I said that I didn't have any cash on me but if he would take me to an ATM once I got home that I could get cash to him. Once I got home I asked the taxi driver to stop at 7-Eleven so that I could take out cash to pay him. He joked and said okay but hurry up I'm in a hurry and if you don't hurry I'll keep this bike. I went in the 7-11 to take out cash, came back and the taxi was gone. Not only did he take my bike he took my hat, my coat, and my prescription glasses. I did not know the taxi number but I did call the next day 3x to see if my stuff was there. After three calls I never received a call back and I called the next day three more times. After not receiving any calls back I decided to file a police report. I went to Liberty cab and the police officer went to liberty and spoke to a manager who stated that he could not find the driver without having the taxi cab number. I asked if he could just nail down to the description of the person and the people working that night and he said he has over 400 cabs going in one night. (Really? In Buffalo NY son? Honestly he really didn't even care. I travel more than the average person and take more cabs than the average person and nine times out of ten I've taken Airport taxi. I have never had a problem with them. Going forward I will only take airport taxi, Uber or Lyft when they come and I will never ever, ever take Liberty taxi again. It's been a week now and you would think that the taxi driver would have stopped at my house or something but nothing. I know this is a rant but I am pissed and for your company to not even care just shows the how crappy of an establishment that place is. i have used lberty taxi service ( 1580 kenmore ave.) for a number of years now...but on tues, july 28, 2020 i thought it would be a good idea to call them for a ride to my veterinary doctor's appointment for my very ill dog. i called them 3 separate times this day to be sure i was getting there at my appointment time and i was bringing my little dog ( chihuahua/ pom mix ) who will be in her bed and on my lap. i called at around 1:30am, again around 11:am, and then again at 1:pm ( or so ). each time i called, i let them know that my dog will be on my lap and i need a driver who can be prompt, and who takes dogs with their owners. please remember this, i called three times because a lot of the drivers will not take dogs or any animal in their taxi's. my little dog had cancer...and when i saw her go down-hill quickly ( she was on meds etc. ) i knew it was time for her last veterinary visit. i have to say...when you love your pet and know what needs to be done, it's a very trying time for the owner also. we were ready to go as i heard the driver hit the horn and saved that we would be out in two moments. as we got to the front steps, he said loudly " oh no, i don't take dogs!! ( it was the only taxi to take as i was told 3x by liberty the driver is dog friendly ) i told him this...he was not happy. as a matter of fact, he put us in the back, and that does not mean the backseat. he opened the back of the truck that had no seats and he unfurled the ramp that we have to walk up and sit on the floor that was very slippery and had no carpet or seat belts. mind you, that he was very rude and it was steaming hot in the back of that van!!! we got to the corner of my block and i couldn't breathe. i asked him to flip on the air or open a window or two so we could finally breathe. nope, he didn't do anything but drive very erratically and made very fast stops and goes so we were all over the back of that van with a steel or metal floor!!! mind you, also i was still trying to hold on to my 10 lb dog as we were being hit from the back door all the way to the back seat area and tossed around like we were in a washing machine!!! i was yelling and did not get any reaction from him or i suppose it was his girlfriend in the passenger seat. we finally got there, he got out of the driver side and went to the back of the truck open the door, and folded down the ramp..... then fed to me i hope you're paying cash. i have to tell you, i blew a gasket and lit into him like there was no tomorrow!!! pulled out my credit card and put it into the machine and was not about to tip him, but the machine would not let me go any further until i tipped him. that was never going to happen.... so if the machine doesn't want to take my card and i'm not leaving a tip well sorry about that! the avicii so-called girlfriend finally got the machine to work and as i was walking toward the veterinary clinic i told him exactly what i thought about him. he gave me a dumbfounded look like he didn't know what i was talking about!! (just so you know... he's driving a lime green dodge caravan, and from what i understand, his name is tyrone and he wears a white beach hat!!! *** i did call liberty that evening and spoke with a very kind man and he listened to everything i had to say to him. in fact, my conversation was being taped (which was a good thing!) the next day i got a call from i believe it was the manager of liberty on kenmore avenue and he did here my message taped and was very concerned. we spoke for a good while and he assured me that this driver is new or fairly new and didn't read the notes did they present on the driver's notes when they're going to pick up someone. a manager liberty was very kind again, and assured me that this driver would be talked to and if you didn't straighten up he wouldn't be working there anymore. i hope that this is true and i hope i never run into tyrone, or his lime green dodge caravan with no seats in the back other than the second row which apparently i wasn't good enough to sit in. that's it folks, i hope everyone who is taking this taxi service will report when there are problems with any of the drivers. thank you to the manager of liberty taxi, 1580 kenmore ave, kenmore, n.y. at least (i hope) i got some satisfaction. v. smith ***no star rating*** ( won't let me post till i do...-20 ) apparently the lowest is one star, so i'm putting that in, but that is not my choice.. read more

They are quick to arrive, but the drivers do not have any customer service skills. If you ask them questions they ignore, if not are rude. We have used them 3 times since being on Canalside (our hotel continues to call them for us) and each time is worse. Last night we went .8 miles to the Seneca Casino and the guy charged us $10. I thought he was kidding, but he wasn't and didn't seem to care that he was being a complete ass. The vehicles are not nice and usually smell like smoke. I think it is the worst cab company I have ever used and will let everyone in the area not to use them. I also let the hotel know to start calling another company for their guests. read more

This taxi service is a joke! I've had to deal with them mulitple times just going from Delaware park area to Downtown. You will wait a minimum of 15 minutes to a half hour. The last driver I had had a friend in the car and they were blasting rap music all the way to our destination, The cab was dirty and just a mess. I didn't feel safe. After all that talk of cabbies protesting Lyft, its no wonder, that was a wonderful service and these taxi companies knew it was more conveinent. Now they know theyre the only racket in town again and theyre prices reflect it. My suggestion is to use any kind of independent cab you can, I have a stack of business cards that I call to see if they're available. If they arent I go to the next card. The first driver 'no showed' me , though I was standing on my porch and no cab came. A dispatcher said he would send a second cab and he didn't. The 3rd cab was supposedly 7 minutes out, but was really 57 minutes out. I did email the manager about the 31st and I got canned answers. I need to go back to Kenmore Cab. edit- I cancelled the liberty cab after having waited 2 hours and 20 minutes. I called Kenmore Cab and they were at my door in less than 10 minutes. read more

Oh will Uber ever make it to Buffalo? The good thing about liberty cab is that they are just about everywhere. Every time I decide I'm going to be cabbing it home I cringe because I know how difficult it is, especially trying to find Cab that will take my debit card or can understand my address. The cabs are never clean and I've never had friendly cab driver while using liberty cab. Matter of fact I once had a driver say they were going to charge us $5.00 extra per person because he was taking us to a gay bar. At that point we got out and decided never to use this company again. We called an spoke to a manager, they sent us a new cab but were extremely unapologetic. Needless to say, I'd rather bundle up and walk home in a blizzard then use this company ever again. read more
