I had a problem with an accountant before her, and I hired her to help me fix the issue, which as far as the returns go she did. I also asked her to help me deal with FTB about the debt, and she basically did some procedure with them that took 6 months, before which I HIGHLIGHTED REPEATEDLY that I did not want to pay more interest, she responded that that account would be on hold and there would be no interest. Well at the end of 6 months, I ended up having to take the matter into my own hands, pay nearly 2000.00 dollars in interest. When ever I have any questins about anything I have to wait 2 weeks to a month, and our appointments never seem to resolve anything I repeatedly ended up calling FTB myself to resolve it. I am now about to pay more money for something she did and didnt take responsibility for. if you want straight forward work done, she will do a good job, but don't hire her to clean up any messes, it will end bad. I am grateful for her help, but it was AGONIZINGLY SLOW, and disappointing to have to do everything extra myself. I dont know that first thing about talking with FTB, or maneuvering their systems, and I was forced to resolve 'clean up' part of the issue my self, paying over 5000+$ for a bill that was originally 1800.00 or 2000. She made excuses that seemed legit but was really hiding behind the confusion left by the man who messed it all up in the first place (before I hired her) the extra money was over 60% interest for her mis information, and misleading me by telling me that the account would be on hold, and despite me asking and insisting if that meant NO INTEREST, AND HER SAYING YES THATS WHAT IT MEANT, I payed the interest.

I truly never write negative reviews, but the way I was treated by Golden Apple's representative,…read moreRon, was ridiculous. My wife is a teacher and we bought a brand-new home in 2023, excited to start our story here. We were able to get insurance through Golden Apple at the very last minute which was a relief at the time, but it took them forever to even process our quote. Still, we eventually got coverage and thought all was good. Our home is fully equipped with the required fire safety measures: fire sprinklers, alarms, and more than 150 feet of defensible space in every direction. So imagine our surprise when Golden Apple sent us a letter saying we would be dropped. No explanation, no chance to ask questions, just a letter. I called Ron immediately. At first, he was apologetic and said he was reaching out to other agencies, and we were given until mid-December before being dropped. That was over a month ago. Since then, there's been zero follow-up. My wife kept urging me to call back, so I did today. This time Ron basically shrugged me off, saying he had already called around and "nobody could service Paradise." The kicker? He never bothered to communicate that to us. Who knows how many others he left in the dark. At this point, even if Golden Apple could cover us, I wouldn't want to work with people who clearly don't care about their customers' wellbeing. I then called Nevin & Witt. Their agent listened, understood, and promised to follow up quickly. She even said they are having success writing policies in Paradise. Night and day difference go check them out if you want someone who actually gives a damn.

In that time, I have had zero accidents and zero claims that were my fault. I live in the western part of Chico where there is literally no wildfire risk. When time came to renew my policy, I was told that despite my home not being in a wildfire risk area and being a loyal customer for 30 years, they would not renew my home policy because of increasing risk exposure in California. I'll be the first to admit that wildfires are a problem in the state, but logical businesses understand that there are areas within the state with wildfire danger and areas without. Within 30 minutes I went to AAA who had no problem insuring my vehicles and home and I've turned my back on State Farm as they have done to every Californian. I encourage every single person with a State Farm policy to cancel it to run them out of the state entirely.
