Making an appointment online is nice and easy and I love that they have my information stored. I made an in-office appointment for Carolyn but Yogapriya helped me instead. While I would have preferred to have my appointment when the person that I scheduled it for, or at least given a heads up, Yogapriya was amazing and had us in and out in about an hour. She even went above and beyond to get us a tax credit for the home energy renovations that we did last year. Overall, I had a positive experience here yesterday and even made sure to schedule an appointment next year with Yogapriya. Talked to multiple CPA offices, and finally, when i spoke with Mr. Sanjiv, he explained every detail on what needs to be done with the compliance procedure, and i instantly decided to go with them. They really have the deep understanding on how the taxes work with the Indian accounts and in fact helped me how to get those details from Indian financial institutes. Next part is, Ms Kalpana from their Pleasanton office was so helpful in educating me as she was working on multiple IRS forms for the last few years. At one point, when their office was shut for visitors due to Covid, Kalpana went one step ahead, and scheduled a quick meet up outside our residence to get some forms signed. Big shout! Kudos! It didn't end there. This year, as some of my foreign tax forms reached me just a week ago prior to the deadline, she understood my situation, and was so patient in going through all the statements from several statements with multiple accounts, and finalized the return documents, which she is above to file. I can't think of any better alternative option for my tax filing going forward. She has lot of passion, and whenever i reached for some info, she was always there to help. No wonder, some times, i received her reply to my tax queries even after 11pm in the night. Overall, its really nice experience working with Sanjiv Gupta's office for my tax returns.

It's even worse when you don't have a tax preparer you routinely go to. My sis recommended Acosta tax services to me and this is my second year returning to them. The office is located in a building with multiple offices across from Southland Mall. Don't be alarmed by the condition of the elevators, I survived.... twice ;) Acosta is located on the second floor, easy to find. I passed by restrooms on my way there, I believe you need a key. The office itself is quite small but there is a small lobby with a few chairs to wait if needed. Staff is minimal, I think Grace is the owner/tax preparer and there is a receptionist. Both are friendly and welcoming. My appt was at 12, I got there about 5min early and walked into a waiting room with 2 people who were already waiting. When I got there, I was told to "please have a seat and we'll be with you shortly". I decided to ask at that point how long the wait will be and that I had an appt and I was on a lunch and didn't have a lot of time. The receptionist then went back to talk to Grace and ask for a timeframe. A short while later, grace came out and told me she was behind with all of her appointments and that I can leave my tax documents with her and she will prep and email it. I didn't mind leaving my tax documents there considering I had been there the previous year. A phone call would have been nice just in case I wasn't comfortable leaving my documents there and not be told at the time of my appt. And I'm sure I would have had to wait until the previous 2 people waiting were done :/ I did receive an email to confirm my email address prior to Acosta sending my tax documents in a timely manner, I liked that. I'm hoping that any signatures can be done electronically and I won't have to go back to sign. My sis got a call that they forgot to have her sign some of her documents and she had to physically go back? I was told different.. crossing my fingers.. The previous year when I had my taxes prepared there it was pretty straightforward, only gripe I had was being told to attend the seminars Grace hosts, I believe it had something to do with financial planning, retirement savings, that sort of thing. It was after work and I wanted to be in and out, didn't feel like hearing a spiel about seminars.. but I know that it was probably for my best interest? Things happen, I understand that and will probably return to Acosta next year, just providing some constructive criticicism and my experience there :)
