I used this place last year and was stupefied by the $180 charge (which was not what I was told upfront). To top it off, they did my taxes wrong and it took 10 months for the IRS to figure it out. I got SLAMMED for the error, as interest was collecting in the meantime. Even though H&R is more expensive, at least they give an air of knowing what they're doing. read more

I went here to do my wife and I's taxes about 5 years ago. Everyone was very nice and our taxes were done within 40 minutes which was pretty quick considering the agent had to go through all our papers we brought in and input all that information. We payed about $275 as a special for our first time there and we got a pretty good sized return. Everything went very smoothly and we decided to go back the year after. Just like the first time we set an appointment and 40 minutes later we were done however we had to pay almost $100 more since I had a bit of extra paperwork and more forms had to be filled out. Although it hurt to pay the extra $100 for one form we payed it since we still got a good return. My wife and I decided to go the year after again. This time it was completely different. We set an appointment and were there 10 minutes early and our agent told us they were just finishing up with their previous appointment and would be right with us. Just as our agent was finishing up with the previous appointment another person came in and our agent let us know that they had to take this person before us but would be done shortly. When the agent wrapped up with this person it was 45 minutes after our appointed time. My wife and I were a bit annoyed by this but we wanted to just get our taxes done and did not want to reschedule to get it done. Just like the previous times in about 40 minutes time we were done however this time around it cost us about $50 to $60 more expensive than the last time and we had less forms to fill out this time. We decided to do it since we spent all that time but I figured it was time to find another place to do it. I spoke with a coworker of mine and they told me they used turbo tax to file theirs and had been doing so for years and never had a problem with it. I decided what the heck and bought the $70 turbo tax and tried to file my taxes myself. It walked me through all the forms and questions that I had been asked while my taxes were being done at liberty. After I finished all of them I ended up getting more money from turbo tax with the same amount of paperwork that i took to liberty. From that moment on I have continued to use Turbo tax and will not go back. read more

Zena has been a good resource for my taxes. I was very upset because somehow I ended up owing money, which I'm not sure whose fault it was but it was an issue from 2 years ago that somehow I owe for now. Truth is I normally work with an Atty that does taxes and this way when things go wrong he can inquire and find out what the issue(s) are. I felt like more could have been done to rectify this situation, but it was soley left up to me to take care of it. She has always been kind and thoughtful in her approach. However I haven't researched any other companies because I was satisfied, but it would be good to know if I'm being charged too much and could get a better rate. read more

Great, great service and experience. I've always filed my taxes through other tax companies. But in 2016 I decided to try out Liberty Tax Service after hearing a lot of good feedback from friends and co-workers. Im glad I filed my taxes this year at liberty tax service over on Washington street, Brighton. I will go back to Liberty Tax service again to file my taxes for 1 reason. And that reason is Zena! Zena is truly one of the best tax preparer out there. I was very impressed by their service and I've never had so much fun filing my taxes. She's very knowledgeable about taxes, I felt very confident and I trust her with my tax returns. I also received a bigger refund and better service at that location than any other tax prep service companies I've filed with in the past. My son works at Whole foods. He lives with me and has the simplest tax return anyone could have. No interest from bank accounts to speak of,no stocks. I mean, He gets a w2 from work and that's it. You could do his taxes on the back of a napkin. He does have health ins. When I dropped his information off, the women told quoted me $80 to do them. I thought that was high,but I gave them the OK. I went to pick them up.(my son works allot)and sat down with her. I almost shit!! They charged me , get this, $140.00. One hundred and forty dollars!! I lost it. I said,"for what, are you out of you mind's"This story does not have an ending yet. I paid the outrages price and she e-sent them in. She told my to send my son up in a few days. He is going up there tomorrow, with me. The only thing I can think of is there will be a check there waiting for him. If there is not, That will not be the end of it. I'm a Brighton person thru and thru. If they charged that much money and there is not a tax check waiting fir him? I will assure you there will be repercussions.. All you people from Brighton reading this know what I mean. Keep an eye out for my next comment. It should be in the next day or two. AVOID! Service is horrible! Prices are outrageous! Although I have used Zena's service for the past few years, I will never come back again! She didn't like being questioned on how certain numbers appear on my filing and evades questions at all costs. Since I'm paying $500+ for her to prepare my taxes and she's in the business of providing a service, I feel I have a right to ask how she comes up with certain line item numbers. After all, I'll be the one being audited and stuck paying interest to the IRS if something was reported incorrectly. At the end of the day, be an informed consumer, you have the right to ask questions and understand what she's doing! Don't let her tell you otherwise! please dont go here i received paperwork stating that my taxes were completed and filled on april 2nd, zena didnt file my taxes, after everything, i ended up getting my refund back on may 30th. when i followed up with zena to ask what happened she told me that i should have followed up with her sooner and she also mentioned that people dont rely on their tax refund for anything theres a lot more that went on during this process but the bottom line is that the customer service was horrible, i feel like i paid $270 for someone to not care about my situation or my taxes and it was very stressful to go through all of this. i will not go back there nor would i recommend this business to anyone. read more

Zena did my taxes for me and she was absolutely wonderful! She was very quick, took the time to listen to my issues from last year's tax preparer (H & R Block, never again!!!), talked me through my refund issues. She's super friendly and I actually enjoyed the process. She was very personable and assured me that if anything is wrong w the taxes, she'll take full responsibility and fix it ASAP (which H&R Block did not from last year). The price was very reasonable for the amount of W2s and some out of state issues to deal with, and she even gave me a discount for being a first time customer. I went here for the first time because my brother has been doing his taxes here for a few years. I had 3 years of taxes to do and Zena was kind enough to sit with me while I looked up student loan interest, and reviewed other dependent factors including what my parents had/had not claimed in years past. After 3 hours, I was charged a little under $350 dollars for the 3 years of taxes, but it was well worth it because with the extra work Zena did, I will be getting a lot more back than I expected. Had my taxes done there last year, very friendly, did it for nothing. This year decided to have them done again. I made an appointment for 2:00, wasnt seen untill 2:30. Sat around being offered hot chocolate and slices of pizza. When I was finaly seen she was very friendly, done quickly, everything was great untill she asked me how I wanted to pay and told me it was 138$!! Very simple return, short form, 2 W2's. On the way home I stoped at H&R block to pick up past years return, told them about my experience, they told me they could have done them for 38$. Never going back. If they didnt have to pay a guy to dance out front prices could be cheaper. Never going back, advising everyone to do the same. read more

I went in one year after being ripped off by H& R block and I never looked back! I have gone back every year since! They are professional and very accommodating to a busy work schedule with their early hours in and some days staying late. I was referred here and I am so thankful. Zina has been an absolute miracle-worker! She really knows her stuff. Great office, great location, and I live in Boston, but the commute is well worth it! I will be back next year and I will continue to refer this company. Stop by the office yourself, you will see how you are treated and you will see that the office is always nice and tidy. Fees where astronomically less than H & R Block. My taxes are very complicated, I have 3 homes, I have 2 or 3 jobs (if you include my home-based business, that is 3) and A LOT OF tax issues, which the very Zina zips right through it all and helps me find tips to save money.
