I called LaShawnda to describe to her why I switched, but my message went unreturned--so, I am leaving my message here. My husband and I are building a house in Bellevue, and our builder suggested getting our own liability insurance during construction. I tried for over a week to get someone at LaShawnda's office to look into my request. First I left a message, which went unanswered. After a few days and a few more phone calls that went to voicemail, I finally reached a man who didn't know what I was talking about, but, to his credit, he said he would leave a message with someone who might know. (He also said he would watch them process the request so he could learn how to do it himself, which I appreciated.) However, that message too went unanswered. I called again the next week, and a woman spent most of our conversation arguing about what I was requesting. Although she said there was probably no need for liability insurance, she said she would contact an underwriter and call me back that afternoon. That was two days ago, and still I have heard nothing. I finally called another State Farm agent in town, who immediately clarified what I was looking for, noting that it is a common product and that it would be an important policy to carry during construction. Reflecting on the experience, I realized I had spent many phone calls and over a week trying just to enroll in a service; what could I expect if I actually needed assistance on a claim? For these reasons I have switched to another agent, and LaShawnda, I am sorry that I was not able to express my concerns directly to you.
