I didn't end up using this company because unfortunately they weren't available for our moving…read moredates, but I still wanted to leave a review because of how incredibly helpful the gentleman I spoke with was. He spent nearly 15 minutes on the phone with me going over the details of our move, even knowing we wouldn't be able to book with him. I mentioned a quote I had received from another moving company and that I was worried it might be way off. He reassured me that the price sounded reasonable and then took the time to explain what I should look for when choosing a moving company, what I could expect to pay, and some things to watch out for. There was absolutely nothing in it for him, yet he was patient, knowledgeable, and genuinely seemed to want to make sure we had a good moving experience, even if it wasn't with his company. That kind of customer service and honesty is rare and really stood out to me. Although I can't review the actual moving service since we weren't able to use them, based on my experience over the phone, I would absolutely recommend giving them a call. I only wish our dates had worked out!

I would like to highly recommend Gordon's Moving based on my recent experience with them for a move…read morein the Portland area. Gordon himself runs this business with his family as they have done for decades and their dedication to the highest quality of work and customer satisfaction is as clear as day. They take the time to assess your home in person to provide as accurate as possible a cost estimate and to properly allocate labor and materials. They provide many ways of assuring that the move will go as planned and that any unexpected challenges would be taken care of if they arose. They were incredibly kind and communicative and went out of their way to assure that we would have a smooth and comfortable move. Their commitment to their customers satisfaction fully included the work of the movers as well. Their team handled both the moving and also packing of our entire home, and everything was done with care and efficiency. I have used many moving services over the years and we were very impressed by Gordon's and have absolutely no hesitation recommending them for a move and would happily hire them again if needed.

My husband and I recently went through an unexpected and stressful move, and I cannot express enough how grateful we are that we hired Gordon's. From the very beginning, when Gordon came to do an estimate, he was so understanding and kind, all the way through to the last day when they completed our move, everything was done with exceptional service, professionalism, kindness, courtesy, and genuine care. This is one of those rare companies that truly cares about you, wants to make your life easier, and is dedicated to providing excellent service. Gordon and Cathy are absolutely wonderful people who clearly love what they do, are very good at it, and are exactly who you want running a company. And their team... WOW! The group of young men on their team are AMAZING! On top of being incredibly hardworking, they were the nicest individuals. We never heard them complain once despite working very long days (and in the heat, no less!), they were so sweet with our toddler, asked questions to ensure that everything was packed & moved exactly how/where we wanted, and each and every one of them did an absolutely remarkable job. My husband and I cannot say enough good things about them, as well as Gordon and Cathy. To say we were fortunate to have them help us through this move is a huge understatement. I also want to underscore that we are a military family and have moved seven times in the past ten years, so we have a lot of experience with moving companies. Gordon's Moving is by far, without question, THE VERY BEST.

U-Pack Moving

I had a great experience using U-pack containers (2) for a move from Portland, ME to Minneapolis,…read moreMN. Now, granted, I did not have much furniture, so I'm not sure how well furniture would have fared over those 1400 miles, but everything else (including bikes, office chairs, lamps, modular shelving units, even a non-boxed ceramic flower pot) made it in the exact condition it left in, so I was very impressed. I chose U-Pack after reading some bad reviews of PODS, comparing BBB ratings, getting a quote from a full service mover that was way too high for my budget, and after realizing that they were significantly less expensive than renting my own truck, with gas & everything else factored in plus hauling my car. Plus it relieved me of the burden of driving halfway across the country during a time of the year with very unpredictable weather (December) & having to deal with any truck issues (which, I've gathered anecdotally from friends are not that uncommon). Plus truck rental has fairly strict pick up & drop off times whereas, it turns out, U-Pack works with what's convenient for you. This method was so much more convenient than renting our own truck because the containers were delivered almost 2 weeks prior to my actual move date (per my request), so I was able to pack progressively and spend some extra time shifting things around to make sure they were in their most stable configuration. No extra charges for the extra time. I also liked that you use your own locks - that way you know nobody has access to your stuff during transit or storage. On arrival in Minneapolis, they asked me what would be a good day for delivery. I chose Friday & even though my stuff had arrived by Tuesday, they did not charge me anything extra for those few days of storage. That would NEVER happen w/ a full service mover (and the quote we got from one full service mover was 2x what it cost to move w/ u-pack!). Perhaps most importantly, there were no surprise charges or additional fees tacked on. They stuck to their initial quote to the dime & there was never any hassle about payment or pricing. One thing I recommend is getting some ratchet straps to help hold things down inside. There are small slats with slits along the walls that you can put the hooks into & then tighten the straps across the top of the boxes/items. Also, pack heavy to light bottom to top & fill the space laterally so that everything ends up sitting as even as possible across the top - this will keep things from shifting around during the forklifting & transport. All in all, I don't think it could have gone better - I am still kind of amazed.

WORST MOVING EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE!!!!!!!!!!…read more I have moved so many times in my life and have never experienced a worse move ever. Everything seemed shady from the beginning. I only wish I would have followed my gut feeling when I saw all the red flags waving. The owner, Larry Scott is the most unprofessional businessman I've ever worked with. He humiliated me when he got into a screaming/cussing match with one of my elderly neighbors in my nice neighborhood, calling the gentleman every obscenity in the book, threatening to physically harm him, etc.. Then, once everything was finally loaded, in Maine, heading to Texas, Larry disappeared and was completely missing in action. He wouldn't return any of my calls or texts, contrary to what he told me. The moving truck arrived a day late, requiring me to pay an additional night of a hotel & rental car. When it arrived the next day, I learned that almost all of my belongings, including my car were damaged in the move and the professional movers that he scheduled to unload the truck were NO-SHOWS when the truck arrived. After many frantic phone calls and after waiting 3 1/2 hours, they finally arranged for day laborers to unload. By this time, it was almost 4pm. All my furniture was dented, scratched, scraped, corners broken, legs broken, my car scratched, etc. The laborers refused to put furniture & boxes in the proper rooms even though everything was clearly marked. They claimed that they were not paid to arrange, just to unload. Then a large portion of my furniture was in pieces in no organized fashion. There were pieces of wood, screws, etc. laying everywhere and no one knew how to reassemble the furniture. The laborers stated that they weren't paid to assemble furniture - just to unload. The truck driver finally tried to assemble what he could but he did a terrible job. I still have furniture that wasn't assembled and I have a bag of parts and many pieces of wood that I didn't not have before. What was assembled was assembled incorrectly. I called the office the next day to see about filing a claim. I was told by the Administrative person that she had to speak with Larry first and would call me back. After a few days, I called again, and she said she would let me know when she knew anything. I never heard from them and eventually gave up which is what I'm sure they were hoping for. DON'T EVER TRUST THIS COMPANY! They will rip you off!!!

Okay... let's face it... moving sucks…read more So, when my wife and I decided to move... the thought of carrying boxes up and down a flight of stairs at my age... well, it sounded about as appealing as eating rocks. So, I went on Google to research moving companies. I found 2... and the ONLY reason I chose Blanchette's at the time... was because they had a Yelp review. And a good one at that. Well, let me just say... now only did the Yelp review confirm that using Blanchette's moving was a good pick... I thought they were as professional, helpful, friendly, and CARING as you can get. Mark, one of the movers... not only talked to me and my wife any chance he could get... he was funny, friendly, and just plain nice. They were SUPER fast and VERY efficient... having moved our entire house in about 4 hours. And the price was VERY affordable as well... well worth the investment. It's the only time I've moved where it literally felt as if I went from one place, and was able to walk into my new home... without much stress about the move. If you live in the Lewiston/Auburn area and you're looking to move... I honestly would never use any other company besides Blanchette's. Blanchette's made the entire process easy, Joanne was SO friendly and helpful on the phone... and I couldn't be happier.

He left me feeling confident and assured. Then I got a reminder call 24 hours ahead of time. On moving day, the crew of 2 showed up right on time and got to work. When they got the desk into my house I realized I had underestimated its size, so furniture had to be moved in order to place the desk in a better spot. I knew I would be paying for an extra 30 minutes but they did it without complaining. Estate stuff is heart-wrenching but Blanchette's made this part easier. I'd give ten stars if I could.

Midwest Moving was very communicative from the moment we reached out to them. Their quote was…read morereasonable; however, I was fairly certain that they had underestimated the time, which they had. I believe they charge you from the time they leave their facility until the time they return, so keep that in mind when estimating your own cost and keep careful track of when they come and go so that you don't get charged more as that almost happened to us. Their employees were friendly and polite and arrived within the timeframe they had promised. We had three guys show (instead of the two that were expected). They moved the furniture fairly quickly as we had a tight window to complete the move on both ends. Unfortunately, there were a couple of items (an electric fireplace and a shelf that we are aware of thus far) that we discovered had minor damage, so be sure to wrap everything carefully that you really care about. They also forgot to bring some of the bolts for the bed frame (which we discovered later) and their drill from the first location, so my husband had to drive back to original house to let them in. Despite these few issues, we were happy to have movers who actually showed up when promised and did what they said they were going to do. We would absolutely consider using them again.
